Melka's eyes sparkled in response and she chuckled at his rapidly-related stories. "Well, it's a good thing you didn't drown. It would have been much more difficult for us to have this conversation, my dear Nova. It's not easy to commune with the spirits you know, not while still living. I've never had much luck myself. I don't think," she trailed off thoughtfully. Who knew how the spirits actually communicated? Would the living even be sure that they were speaking or being spoken to? Curious...
And bees! "Oh, bees are tricky little things, you know," she nodded, leaning in conspiratorially. Her eyes glanced back and forth, then she whispered as if sharing some secret...perhaps the bees might be listening. "I have a theory, you know. The bees steal life with those little stingers. 'S why they sting, of course, to steal your energy for their own, robbing the natural lifestream. But, it's okay...if you pull their stingers off, they die. Ever noticed that? Their own lifeforce must be in the stingers, and it aligns with yours to steal it if they sting you with them." She nodded sagely, as if departing some great truth, then added quickly, "But, it's all still just a theory, of course."
She stretched, first her paws and front legs, then her back, then hind legs as she stood once more. "Well, Nova? You know this area better than I do. I've had a good rest now, so...what's interesting around here? You up for an adventure?" she prodded, grinning in that way that promised excitement and thrills, if only one would come with her.

"Bees. I bet you are totally right." He blinked. He wondered how much life force he had lost to the bees. He sure itched a lot after they stung him. Did it itch to lose life force? Did that mean that death itched? Was dying just a state of eternal itchiness?
An adventure? She was asking him -- him! -- to take her around on an adventure? Oh, he could do that, certainly. He'd seen so many things. So many truly fascinating things....Wagging his tail, the young adult grinned a slow half-smile. "I think I know one or two things I might be able to show you," he admitted, and backed away, his long-suffering lynx companion trailing along amicably.
