Fade thundered into the fray, ripping the framing boughs away with activist ferocity. "STRANGEUSELESSKIMETI!" She cried, "WHEREISYOURBOSS?!"

Fell stayed static, perhaps out of shame (maybe yet still terror) and Rise slowly tilted into vision, before emerging to regard Fade curiously.
"I suppose I'm his boss," he nodded, "if you were addressing Fell," (the strange useless Kimeti who was either him or Fell; sorry Fell) "I'm Rise, how may I help you? Perhaps you are interested in preserved salamander?"

"NO!" She was still blinded with activism, but his soothing voice had settled her down, and he was slowly emerging out of her rage-blurred vision. "YOUR STRange useless Kimeti fell into a..." Oh my - so this was his boss? Wow, he was awfully...handsome... "...into a..."

Oh for - This really was a problem with Fade - one good mug and she was good for nothing. With all her fancy ideas about oppression and freedom and independence, too. Honestly, she could be such a disgrace.
Trotting up discreetly beside her slack-jawed sister, Weep bumped her shoulder scale with stern intent, and muttered, sharply, "Exploitation."

"Right um, your strange useless Kimeti fell into a crocodile trap he made himself," Fade rambled on a little, with a mechanical frown, "and um, we didn't think it was right that he was out there alone trying to catch a crocodile because look, he fell into his trap. Which we got him out of."

"Oh Fell," Rise said, looking back at him, "I wish your naming dream had been different." He turned to her again and smiled kindly, "I would've gone to find him after a while, but thank you for getting him out. Fell is smart; he rarely makes the same mistake twice and I trust his capabilities. I know my failings, and he fills them very well."

"The only mistake," he interjected, stung even through his rising panic, "was your psychotic plan - it's a stupid idea all round!"
The sense of satisfaction with which he had led the interlopers back had entirely dissolved. This was not how it was supposed to go! She's supposed to be crazy - where was her crazy now? And was she...was she making eyes at his boss?!?!!

"Oi don't talk to your boss like that," she said, doe-eyed, not really listening by this point. "Okay, that's alright with me. Alright."

Rise laughed, evidently used to Fell's whinging, and swatted his tail at him all friendly-like. "I hope that everything is to your satisfaction then, ladies?" He questioned graciously, "I assure you I'm quite good to Fell."

"Ooh yes," she sighed. "You look like a wonderful wonderful boss to work for."

"Do I now..." he commented, with a slight turn of voice. "Well, you're very talky," he observed - yes, that would be great for customer communication, he wasn't bad at it but couldn't be around all the time, "and your friend seems very practical. I think you're both very charming."

"Wait, wait..." Fell started anxiously, moving next to his boss like a giant, fluttering moth. He had a bad feeling - a very bad feeling -

A sharp, solemn tap from his back hoof - a little warning that he was serious and Fell should shush. "Oh yes," he asserted, "and I think you'd make great shop-keepers for me. Our business is growing at a good clip, but Fell and I are more of the outfield sort - it'd be wonderful to have the two of you tend to the selling. How's that sound?"

It was like the twist in the tale of horror, that you could see coming a mile away. And Weep did, but Weep had hoped - foolish hope! - that sensible heads would prevail. And just where did she expect the sensible heads to come from?!
It was as if the world had slipped into slow-motion: urgently she pushed forward, but it would not be enough. She knew it would be too late, too late, even as the first high syllable issued from her mouth - "Fade!"
