"Sleep," Aulus sighed and rubbed his face, "sounds like a good idea... Please tell me that grunts at least don't have to sleep in bunk-beds; I feel like a six year old... A six year old stuck in a room with seven other six year olds who'll probably smash his head in with a toy block given half a chance." Ugh. Somehow he couldn't see himself sleeping well the next couple of months. He just hoped that when he moved up to grunt level he didn't manage to totally alienate his roommate. Even if he did, however, at least there'd only be one of them to cope with.
"It looks good in here," Aulus commented as they move on through the training facilities, "big variety of equipment. Guess a massive criminal empire needs well trained soldiers, humm?" The pool sounded like another good spot to be, but asking what it was like would be stupid given they'd be seeing it very shortly. "Honestly I don't like being idle either," Aulus added after a brief pause, "I get cranky when I'm bored... crankier, whatever."

"Arceus, no way," she replied with feeling, a short, exasperated sigh following the words. "Grunt rooms aren't too big, but there's two separate beds on opposite sides of the room and one roommate to deal with. Hopefully yours won't be too bad, because mine is an absolute nutcase." How Len ever got herself into Team Rocket, Claire would never know.
Alexina trotted along behind Claire as her human followed the other human, and a light chuckle escaped Claire at Aulus' comments. "You? Cranky? Never," she teased idly, "but well-trained, yes. There's also a firing range somewhere around here too, though I haven't been to it." That was something she needed practice with - aim. She could fire a gun, just... aiming properly was still a bit difficult.

"Oh, sarcasm," Aulus shot the purple-eyed woman a dark glare, "aren't you just a shining wit. By the way, ever heard of spoonerisms?" Firing range. He wasn't a fan of guns as a rule, but it would probably be sensible to learn to handle one... eventually. Maybe once he got out of the drudgery that lay in wait for anyone in a red uniform. "Next floor down then?" Aulus suggested, signalling sharply for Tortie to keep up: the Absol had stopped briefly to sniff at something.
While he'd usually indulge her he wasn't really in the mood right now; he'd just remembered he had to sleep in a sodding bunkbed, and Claire was making fun of him... Oh boo-hoo, poor little baby couldn't take a tease? Sob-frickin'-sob. Maybe he should just have ignored it, or joked back or something... though he supposed what he'd said could be interpreted as a joke. Whatever, didn't matter anyway.

"Nope," was her quick reply, the tone of her voice and the way in which she'd said the single word indicating that she didn't know and didn't exactly care to learn, but recognized it as a potential insult. Apparently he didn't like teasing. Did that mean she wouldn't ever do it again? Hell no, it just meant she'd have to do it more.
"Next floor," she repeated to signal her assent, then headed towards the next stairwell before quickly descending the steps. "Like I said, pool, exercise and rec rooms are on this floor. Want to look around here, too? There honestly isn't much more to look at after this. Basement floors four and five are the tech rooms and laboratories, respectively, and the latter of the two is restricted to authorized personnel only." In other words, if he wanted to explore more, this was the floor on which to do it, or just go to bed now.

"Well... I'll take a look at the pool," Aulus decided after a moment. "I guess I can take a better look around the rest tomorrow. If I have any free time, which I probably won't." Ugh. Why had he talked himself into this? It was sounding like a worse and worse idea the more exhausted he got... Probably because being tired make him about as extra-cranky as being bored. There were, in fact, a lot of things that made him extra cranky.
As her human grumbled, Tortie gave an internal sigh and trotted closer in order to give him a nudge. She might not think he had any particular right to be grouchy - it wasn't him who'd just had a new life sprung on him - but he was hers, and she couldn't help wanting to make him feel better.
"Mmfh, hello you," Aulus mumbled gruffly, giving the dark type a half-hearted scritch on the head. "A headbutt doesn't change the fact that I've got to sleep in a bunkbed surrounded by malevolent idiots, but thanks for the sentiment I guess." She was definitely staying out of her pokeball tonight, up on his bunk if he could fit her; he wanted somebody with sharp ears close by just in case anyone tried anything... Plus, he supposed he would be nice to have the companionship in this weird new world he's thrust them into: that was just a bonus though. Yea.

"You might have some, that is if you don't feel like collapsing into bed immediately after you're finished with your shift." It wasn't that exhausting, really. It could be pretty bad sometimes, especially the first few days, but after that it got monotonous and easy to get used to. "Besides, I'm sure you'll be out of there in no time at all and into the grunt dorms, as long as you don't give the higher-ups any reason to want to keep assigning you trainee jobs." Which they definitely would if he didn't watch himself, but.. she didn't think he'd have much trouble with that.
After stepping off the last of the stairs she entered the hall and.. pool, right. Err, left. Left was right. Oh, whatever. "Pool's this way," she said with a tilt of her head to the left and started walking in that direction. "Locker rooms to change in, and it's a decent sized in-ground pool. Heated too, I'm pretty sure." At least, it felt like it. Until a certain Glaceon decided to join and lower the temperature several degrees...
Said Glaceon was trotting along behind her human, though at the mention of the word 'pool' she looked up at Claire expectantly. Were they going swimming now? It was rather late to go for a swim, wasn't it? Humans were so odd.

"Right, so it's just a simple matter of being charming to smarmy white-shirts is it?" Aulus groused with a sneer. "Well that'll be a piece of cake, I'm sure. I'm going to be a trainee forever if the people supervising me are up tight." Great. He could see some sniveling Agent keeping him back just because he called the idiot on being a total pansy... He should probably stop making up imaginary people to hate; he had enough real distasteful people to deal with without sticking ones that didn't exist on the list.
"We go in through the changing rooms then?" Aulus asked more or less rhetorically, heading for the men's even as he spoke. Just relax. Do whatever he had to during the day, and in the evenings come down to the pool or the training areas or whatever. It'd be fine; channel the hate into constructive exercise, not into breaking the jaws of superior officers. Always a smart thing, not breaking the jaws of superior officers.

"Mm, yeah," she replied, trying (and largely failing) to stifle a yawn. Arceus, was she tired... Bed sounded really good right about now.. Oh, right, tour. Pool. Well, there wasn't much she could do to show him around here, it was a big empty room with a pool. Not much else to really see, so while he looked around, she leaned her back against one of the walls. "Nice and big, isn't it?" Perfect for swimming laps in.
Oh, so they weren't going for a swim now. That was alright then. Still, humans were odd. The petite Glaceon glanced up at her trainer quizzically, but received a small shake of her head. No, no bed yet. Soon. "The higher-ups aren't all bad, just don't go pissing them off. And I'd suggest looking them up in the database and be able to recognize them by name or by face in case you happen to run into one sometime. Wouldn't do well to piss one off by accident because you don't know who they are." When she'd arrived, looking up everyone of agent rank and higher had been one of her top priorities, as well as memorizing the layout of the base. Wouldn't do to get lost or accidentally piss off a superior just after arriving.

"Yea," Aulus sighed and rubbed his face wearily, "I should do that. I'm kind of crap at remembering faces to be honest but I should at least try... And yea, it's a nice pool." It was a nice pool all sort of... Big. Full of water. Diving board. Egh. He wasn't sounding much more intelligent than Lucas had over dinner even inside his own head. He wanted to sleep, but he didn't want to go back up to his dorm. The more he thought about it the more he regretted being so aggressive with his roommates right off the bat.
Why hadn't he just taken the free bunk, whichever one it was? He could have dealt with the top dog of the room when the idiot lout moved against him, but instead he'd insisted on being the aggressor. At the time he'd felt good, powerful, on a high looking forward at this new life. Now he was beginning to wonder if he'd effed it all up for himself before he'd even really begun. If anyone in his room was pals with somebody higher up the ranks he was going to be in for it, and he'd have nobody to blame but himself. He hadn't been acting like a big tough man throwing his weight around like that, he'd been acting like a stupid kid. He was twenty two, not fourteen, and the worst of it was that he knew this mistake wasn't going to change him. He was an unadulterated, unchanging berk; no matter how hard he resolved to be different next time it all went out the window when he lost his temper.
"I should go to bed I guess," the scarred man sighed eventually, his tones losing the last of their bite as weariness at himself and the course he'd laid for himself sapped the anger out of him. "Look, Claire..." Claire what? Was he going to tell her what an idiot he was? Ask her to protect him? No. He had it coming, whatever was coming, and he wasn't going to try to cower behind anyone to avoid it. Besides, she probably wouldn't let him; she'd only brought him here because she'd thought he'd be useful, there was no affection there, and nor should he expect any with the way he insisted on acting. "Thanks for the tour," he concluded eventually, "feel like I kind of know where stuff is now... Guess I'll see you around the place then."
He'd feel better after a good night's sleep. He'd feel better even after a pretty poor night's sleep. At least he knew he had a bed for the foreseeable future now, and he knew that he and Tortie wouldn't go hungry. Anything beyond that was a bonus, right? Perhaps he shouldn't worry so much about what his roommates might do to him, or to his stuff, or get more important people to do to him or his stuff... Sleep. He'd feel better after he'd slept; all this gloomy introspection was probably just a result of weariness, and the stress he'd been under. He had somewhere to sleep, food, and the chance to make something of himself; what more could he possibly ask of the world?

Mmm, sleep. Sleep would be a good idea. "Alright," she replied, choosing to forgo replying to his other statements, and leaned away from the wall. His next words caught her attention and she quirked a brow at him, but.. "You're welcome," she said, slightly confused about his wording. Was he going to say something else? Possibly, but right now she was way too tired to even bother trying to figure out what it was, or even think about it.
"Alright, I guess I'll see you around sometime." Should she say he could always find her and ask questions if need be? Nah. He'd know enough that he could, right? ...actually, probably not. He seemed to be too obsessed with his manly image to break it to ask anyone for help. "Let me know if you need anything, okay?" Within reason, of course.

"Uh... Sure," Aulus nodded, reaching down to stroke Tortie's soft fur, "I will... Thanks." And with that and a nod he turned to leave, moving swiftly so that he didn't run into her again in the corridor.
Eventually he made it to the dorm, where it seemed that everyone else was already asleep. His possessions, which he had dumped causally on his bunk before dinner, were still in place, untouched. Not quite sure of where he was supposed to store everything he just shoved it all to one side of the bunk before stripping down to his boxers and climbing into bed. A moment later, Tortie scrambled up and made herself comfortable beside him. Sighing softly, Aulus closed his eyes and shifted closer to his pokemon companion. Tomorrow was a new day. He'd feel better tomorrow.

She vaguely waved off the thanks and waited until after he'd left, also having no intention of running into him in the hallways. After a few minutes she wandered out of the pool area through the locker rooms and down the hall, ascending the several flights of stairs slowly (she still didn't like elevators) before reaching her dorm. Len was already in bed and asleep, thankfully, so she quickly changed and collapsed onto the mattress. Sleep, thankfully, was not far off.
