Zac scowled back in return. "... At least you don't have to pay rent... and they won't cut your hair." He shot back at the silence, which was at -least- as bad as perverted comments, maybe worse.
"Stop sulking you look like YOUR 10...." It was an ironic statement at best coming from the 16 year old with stability and temper issues.

Oddly, that did help a little. More human and less General. Ever drew in a raggedy sort of breath, his mouth shifting and arms still folded tight. The jacket sat crooked on him, and he was acutely embarrassed, all at once, that he'd put on good pants for this. He shouldn't have bothered.
"Only if you'll introduce me to your hot friend." It was an effort. It rang false. Lacked the usual teasing edge, the usual easy mockery. But at least Ever was trying, right?

Zac blinked, utterly sidelined by the request even if it was forced. "...What hot friend..." He blinked...and then it seeped in.
"Wait... De... Scheelite?!" He demanded eyes wide. "HOT?!"
Oh dear lord do not let Demy hear that, he'd be insufferable... probably.

Tall, confident, seemed fun. Yeah, Ever was cool with that: go with hot. He breathed out again, more of the tension going with it. It was reassuring that Zac was exactly the same -- when he was powered down, at least. Virtually unchanged. That was a relief.
"Ski, right." That was definitely right, he remembered that. Ever cleared his throat, and added more seriously. "And explain what the hell I have to do."

"He... you...." Zac sputtered... interesting reaction for just an introduction. "We'll SEE." He said which furthered the implication that there was more to "Ski" than he was saying.
"And it's SCHEE-lite not SKI" He added pointedly, including one finger pointed at ever's nose. "Or 'Ski-lite' if you must but at -least- include Captain." He said testily.
"Alright... you're to gather energy from civilians, it's non lethal so long as you don't do something like suck the energy out of a taxi driver on the highway. Please remember if you DO that then you are still going to be stuck in the car because you -can not- teleport as a lieutenant."
He paused watching Ever's face for comprehension before continuing.
"Secondly we fight the senshi... don't need them shoving Their queen or their weird little twisted logic down the general populous -throats. Queen Beryl is....she has been around a very long time and no one's heard from her... they came back so she started recruiting... No one knows WHY this city is such a hot spot either that I know of, but they do or DID have senshi in other places, we just wiped them out."
At least that was the lay of the land to the best of his current understanding.

It was impossible to tell if it clicked in Ever's head. Mostly his expression still held that flat, blank edge, that touch of something bleak. A trapped-animal edge behind his eyes. He absolutely couldn't pick up and leave and he'd never admit it but, in all honestly, that scared the crap out of him.
"I don't fight. Not really..." Was that going to be a problem? Presumably, if it was, then Zac would have recruited someone who weighed in at more than a hundred and thirty pounds. He cleared his throat. "So maybe focus on that first part?"

"Do I -look- like a fighter?" Zac replied dryly. "I spend most of my time dodging till an opportunity opens up. We have more than enough people willing to teach you how to fight and defend yourself...and there will be team trainings too."
He looked thoughtful for a moment.
"If you'd gotten on better with Fayalite I might have asked her AND Selenite to train you... but I think I'll just be asking Selenite for when I can't be there. She's smart and she's ambitious and you won't hit on her."
A small sigh and he stood and beckoned. "Taking energy is easy...so is running away, but if it will make you feel more at -ease- then let's go somewhere where I can teach you some basics, no matter HOW ironic. I'll warn you though, you are stronger than before, at least in uniform and you'll find jumps would a great deal better than before too."
A soft chuckle before he added. "Scheelite, found that out by mashing off a street-light...let's not repeat that."

"I don't usually take to hitting things or jumping around like a loony..." No, Ever wasn't exactly high-energy -- and any activity he might be doing most certainly wouldn't be in uniform. He dug the heel of one hand into his eye starting to crumple back toward frustration and bleak misery, but he forced himself back up out of it.
"Show me how to do it." More demand than polite request to a General. Oh well.

"....Christ... do not make me summon Scheelite just to hug you... I don't do hugs and you have the 'I need a care bear' look." growled an increasingly uncomfortable Zac.
"Down here...we'll change to uniforms and then I can show you...."
Soon, soon Ever might be able to realize that something very ODD had happened after 'that kiss'...

Ever levered himself up to follow, nabbing the book off the bench as he did. At least he hadn't put on a tie. If he'd put on a tie, he would have felt like a real idiot for taking the time to bother.
"I like hugs." Unlike Zac, he had no issue with physical contact, with hands-on friends, with open friendliness. He shrugged, clearing his throat, and folded both arms around his book. He didn't even remember the kiss, but he'd probably figure out what had happened after.

"....What IS it with you people and TOUCHING?" Demanded Zac looking genuinly confused... "I just... what IS it...what is so great about being all up on another person...god... just... oh for s**t sake stop looking like I killed your dog!"
A tense moment and then the one thing that Ever could never risk telling anyone in the negaverse happened, something only Scheelite had ever enjoyed previously... Zac hugged him.
Well... sort of. It was a stiff armed terrible little thing but it was an effort. "NOW then..." He huffed releasing...though it was really kind of up to Ever if he got away, at least while they were in civi clothes.

Later, Ever would probably think of this as blackmail material; would almost certainly tease Zac ruthlessly about it. But in the moment, he made a soft sound, a quiet 'hmph', and just wrapped his own arm down around around Zac and tipped his chin down against the shorter man's head.
Remarkably, it helped. That was the thing about people and touching. Zac hated it, maybe, but other people thrived on it, and Ever actually looked reassured when he was released from the terse hug.
"I...ah. What should I do with this...?" He held up the book -- back toward Zac so he couldn't read the title.

"Bring it with you...my great-coat has pockets" He said with a shrug and then a small shift of his shoulders as though he were trying to peel off that 'weird hug feeling'.
He refused to enjoy contact with people, it was just another form of PDA, ridiculous and unnecessary. "Did you eat today?" He snapped suddenly. "Decide now..."

"I ate." He'd eaten, but he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do, exactly. So he shrugged a little at Zac and loked puzzled, mostly. He was following. He'd follow Zac's lead, for the time being. So he cleared his throat, smoothing his hair back off his forehead and rolling his shoulders to get more comfortable.
"It's okay, I'm not going to pass out on you or anything." But he said it in a matter of fact way. Probably had happened. He offered the book.

Zac took the book from him and glanced at the title first thing, he arched a single eyebrow at Ever but surprisingly didn't comment, instead leading them down a tight alleyway which at least opened into an intersection with another that was wider and had a fire escape part way down it.
"Alright... concentrate, think of how it felt while you were in uniform and you'll change...very easy just don't do it when people are watching." He explained and then did so himself. Zac to General Zinkenite like someone spliced the film oddly.
