Riley had become rather distracted by the brain bits that everyone seemed to be throwing back. She was looking at them with a careful eye, and reached over to grab a hefty handful when she felt it was an appropriate moment to do so. One of her tentacles slid into her fisted hand, working away at what was inside.
Sammy's particular phrasing made Riley look just a little smug. It wasn't hard to know what kind of compliments appealed to Riley, and being almighty was certainly one of them. She listened to their chatter in silence, drinking it all in until Sammy broke it with a question. Riley stretched her back slightly, and slid further down into the couch cushion she was sitting on.
I am the same year as you both. I haven't been at the school as long, however - I came in rather late in the year. No matter, I've managed to catch up.
The tentacle in her now-empty fist made a few odd little smacking noises.

"Weird," Siddie said in response to Sammy's explanation. "Doesn't sound like anyplace I want to go."
"Huh." She tilted her head to the side slightly, considering classes, tests, and class years. "I don't think I'm ready to take a final yet, myself ... I don't want to know what would happen if someone failed." She shuddered delicately. In her case, even if there were no horrifying consequences imposed by the Academy itself, failing would shame her forever. Her parents might not even take her back.
Siddie watched with some interest as Riley's tentacle discreetly ingested the snack, though she tried not to be too obvious about it. She'd wondered what Riley ate, if anything, and how, since the mindflayer had no obvious mouth. Now that question had been answered. It had something to do with her tentacles. That was interesting.
Tox hopped up onto the back of the couch and walked primly along it until he could stretch his nose out to sniff towards Riley's hand. Why were they all eating his snacks? Life was a mystery.

At one point during the dance Sammy had witnessed Riley's eating habits. It wasn't really odd, it even made a little sense in a strange way, tentacles were after all considered one of the most multi-use limbs anyone could have.
"Well I guess we can all take finals together. Shouldn't be to hard right? Not like Christmas Field trip at all." She tapped her chin for a moment at Siddie's remark, "Again, can it be worse to fail that then get burned by a dragon? I doubt it, and I never want to be set a flame again. My skin was crawling for weeks after we got back."
Glancing slightly she watched Tox hop onto the couch with a low whistle she pointed at the Schink. Omen perked up ever so slightly but remained where he was watching Riley's tentacles but no longer making action to chase them.
Ixxy on the other hand leaped out to pounce Tox off the back of the sofa with a few meeps. "No Tox, not for you boy, those are for the ladies tonight." She quirked an eyebrow slightly at Riley, "Maybe not with the way some people slurp~" She said with a tease.

I do not slurp. Riley countered with a snap, and her eating habits became noticeably quieter as a result. As for the final, I'm sure they will give us ample time to prepare, and the proper study guides.
She thought about it for a moment, and shook her head. What am I saying? They'll probably throw us in a pit and have us fight or riddle our way out. This school is led by a clown car filled with fools. Except Professor Cadmus of course. Riley's snack choked in her tentacle at the accidental though, but really - she hadn't said anything that interesting. Just a good professor. Which he was. And he gave study guides.
.. As long as the final is not another field trip, I will be satisfied.

Siddie giggled at Riley's brief grump. "Of course you don't," she said. "I didn't hear a thing. Very ladylike."
Her curiosity had been piqued about school field trips; they sounded awful, but at the same time, her trip home had been filled with boredom and irritation in alternating rounds. Oh, and occasional disgust at Ebby's terrible taste in boilfriends. Certainly a bit of excitement had to be better than that.
"I don't mind Professor Hellma," she said. "Okay, she's scary - well, terrifying - but she's good at what she does."
She made a face at the speculation about finals. "I'd rather have multiple choice. Ugh."
Tox hissed at being knocked off the couch, but when he had determined it was Ixxy tackling him and not Omen, he calmed. He gave the water scareon a begrudging few swipes of his tongue.

Sammy grinned as Riley objected, she was very sure it was slurp. Undead she might be, but they had an eerie perception of what was going on around them in all forms. It helped for finding the brains hiding in the dark. Survival instinct if you want?
"Okay maybe not a 'slurp' but not quiet either dear~" Lounging again she tapped her chin frowning. "I'm with Riley on that one we'll be tossed in a pit last ten standing get to graduate to year two I bet." Shifting to the side she tilted her head at Siddie, "Hellma is... if she's running this show I peg her for the reason why we keep getting sent to do crappy jobs."
Glancing at Riley again she raised an eyebrow, something in her eyes seemed to flinch as she spoke about Cadmus. "Something wrong Riley? And the field trip? They will. I'm sure of it, they do that way to often."
Ixxy of course only blinked and butted heads gently with Tox when she was licked before hopping back atop the couch to watch Riley and all her wiggle bits.

Riley stopped eating snacks altogether as Sammy pressed on the issue of noise, and lifted her chin a bit in stubborn resilience. She let the subject drop, and shook her head at the question directed to her. Nothing is wrong.
Her melonkit purred quietly under her claws, visibly ignoring any other living thing in the room as if none of it mattered. She could have been a feline statue, with how little movement she managed. It was a frightening similarity to the straight-backed owner whose lap she currently rested on.
Hm.. second year. That comes soon, doesn't it? I feel confident if we are thrown together in a last man standing battle, I will manage well enough. That, at least, would be an up front fight. Not some ridiculous skirmish with creatures while out of our element. She was reminded of the giant dragon that had incinerated them, and shuddered visibly. The melonkit in her lap looked up at her, quite put out at her sudden movement.

"I haven't had much practice fighting," Siddie said, vaguely concerned. "I haven't had any of the gym classes yet - I mean, I haven't caught signups or anything. Not that I don't want to. Can't be as boring as some subjects." She leaned back against the cushions with a deep sigh. "I guess if I had to, you know? But I'd like some training before I get thrown into the middle of something."
Second year was coming soon, wasn't it? She hunched her shoulders a little, not entirely happy with the idea. Not being the smallest of the small was good, but the new year meant new classes and possibly new idiots. She'd never been particularly intimidating, either, and if she was still a wimp ... well, that would just bite, wouldn't it? She leaned over and took another brain bit to nibble on, ducking her head slightly so that her bangs covered her eyes.

For now Sammy laid off Riley, it wouldn't do her any good to upset the mindflayer, though it was a bit fun to make her grump if only because it proved she could still get under her skin just a little bit. "An up front fight Riley? Sure half the student body wouldn't just turn on you for the sake of being the biggest threat?" She pondered for a moment, "Not to mention going after Jericho probably, any dragon actually. Take down the biggest things first, or reapers who are well armed..."
For a moment Sammy seemed to wander in her own mind wondering what WOULD be the best way to go about culling students in a free for all that would work out the best. Eventually she turned back to Siddie shrugging, "Join Fitness club, Riley and I can show you how. Fighting was all I knew how to do before coming here really."
Meanwhile Ixxy stretched out from the top of the sofa to place her paws on Rileys stomach taking a spot beside the melonkit to watch her more closely. She looked like a big purple jellyfish, or maybe an octopus thing, either way Ixxy felt at least some kindred spirits towards the land dwelling sea monster.
Omen meanwhile just eyed the bun of tentacles with what could pass as a disappointed look.

Riley looked pleased that Sammy was 'selling' the Fitness Club. She said nothing, but nodded at the notion. More than anything, she was sure that those who were smart enough to join the Fitness Club would excel in their Gym classes as a result - and that alone seemed like a good reason for joining.
She sucked her stomach in when one of the pets that had been prowling around the room decided to make itself at home on her stomach, and her hand curled tightly around her melonkit in response. The kit itself did nothing more than lift it's head, and turn to glare at Ixxy thinly. It did not look very happy about something else being so close, not to mention using it's owner as a pillow.
This was her terrain, and it was being encroached on. She didn't act on it yet, but from the way her ears went flat and her eyes thinned to slits, it was clear she was ready to fight for her claim. Riley could feel the tension in her body, and slid her hand down Storm's back. Shh, kitty. Stop being so anti-social.
Like mother, like daughter.

"Exercise." Siddie made a face, but she'd mostly made up her mind already. "Oh, all right. You'll give me backrubs when I get all horribly sore, won't you?" She tipped her head to give Sammy a sweet little smile that suggested that she would, indeed, complain, and complain a lot, when she did start in on regular exercise.
But she knew she needed it, so she'd do it. It was just extra plus bonus if she could whine at her ghoulfriend and get pity and backrubs out of it.
