Continuing from his short rest stop, Ryan was in a dead run down the northern path of Hydra Way, on his way to go train with the North Kai, who was apparently known as King Kai, which was weird, because as for all Ryan knows, all four of the Kais share power equally across the galaxy. They had divided the galaxy into four quadrants many multiple years ago, and have been ruling their individual segments ever since then. So why would one be called the "King" Kai? Maybe it was because that King Kai was the King of his own segment of this vast galaxy? Or in the case of the East Kai, she would be known as Queen Kai? It was all a complicated and confusing subject, as Ryan had not met any single one of the Kais at all. Or maybe, just maybe, it was because that King Kai, the North Kai, was a king before he became a kai. Wait, was there even a life before being a Kai for all four of the Kais? Did they even have any semblance of a life before their lives as one of the four Kais? Could there be a life before the kais? What about life after the kais? Did they have a set time limit for being a kai? Then again, King Yemma had seemed to have been at his job of sorting souls and spouting random musings of Mahogany for YEARS upon decades upon centuries, and possibly upon even millenia. Did the kais and King Yemma even have a set time of service set for them to fulfill their duties to the after life, or did they just go on and eternally serve every single living soul that had came their way? No, that was not right. Dead soul. Did they just go on and eternally serve every single DEAD soul that had come their way. Yeah, that seemed more correct to the situation at hand. Dead Souls. Wait, what exactly was Ryan contemplating? He skidded to a halt and looked around.
Ryan had been running for hours, and everything had looked the same as before. Every minute of running has been spent contemplating random musings of this and that, and not a single bit of his time had been spent actually paying attention to where he was or what he was doing. He was just going along with the ride, for who knows what or how long. The young swordsman looked left. Nothing but the golden colored clouds and pinkish colored sky. He then looked to the right. Nothing but the same thing. The golden colored clouds and the pinkish colored sky. Looking straight ahead, more twisting and turning, winding road was laid out before Ryan, that led off into the distance, with yet more golden colored clouds and pinkish colored sky. This caused Ryan to slump down and sit right in the spot he was standing in. He crossed his legs and then leaned his head on his right hand, finally hearing his stomach growl over the thoughts in his head. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I know you're hungry. I'm hungry too." Ryan groaned as he laid back, and spread his arms out above his head.
Ryan took this time to actually look at the clouds as they passed overhead. As a kid, Ryan had taken time out with his mother to actually gaze at the sky. They would make shapes out of the clouds and point them out to each other. But as of Ryan's current state of mind, all he could think about was the growling noises that his stomach kept on making. He needed food, and the shapes he was pointing out overhead indicated as much. "Ugh, I see a deliciously hickory grilled steak, grilled to perfection, some hickory smoked bacon, fresh out of the frying pan and onto the plate. Ugh, what I wouldn't do for something to eat right about now. Actually, that's a pretty long list. It'd be easier just to eat these clouds." Ryan, having never been to the other world before, and having never talked to anyone that has been to the other world before, did not know just how edible these clouds were. It was ironic, really, because he was so focused on how hungry that he was, and the sound of his stomach growling at the fact that he was indeed hungry, that Ryan did not realize the clouds rising up and rolling over the curved, twisting and turning path of Hydra Way, therefore, allowing him to actually eat. But that was not the problem. Pretty soon, his sight would be hindered by the clouds rolling up over the roadway in front of Ryan.
Ryan closed his eyes, resting them for just a minute, when he tasted something quite delicious. The clouds had rolled over his face, and into his mouth. Bolting upright, the young warrior had seen this, and quickly connected the dots, and added one and one together to make two, and began ravishly scarfing the clouds into his face. It wouldn't be until he was full, that he would realize that his pathway was mostly covered, and he could only see the spikes ahead of him. This was very detrimental to his race against time, and he would need to speed things up. A quick moment of beating himself up over not continuing, and letting his mind get the better of him, and Ryan took off again, making sure to keep track of the spikes to his sides, to make sure he did not fall off of Hydra Way.
"Way to go, Ryan. Stopping long enough for your pathway to get covered in clouds. Some very surprisingly tasty clouds. Anyway, good going, Greyson. Now you can barely see the road ahead of you. You better take it safe, unless you want to fall down to Hell and start over from the beginning of Hydra Way. Genius, Ryan. Just some pure, rolling genius."
