We don't do that. But when our guard does partner work, I'm paired up with an eighth grader, and it's her first year. I'm also near her in the drill quite a bit. I try to encourage her a lot, and I give her helpful hints now and again. She's kind of shy, and so I'm trying to help her get over it, because we're all a loud, friendly bunch. She's doing so much better now, and I've actually heard her say more than two words at one time.

we have an adoption program...give the freshman five dollars and they have to dress, act, and do what the upperclassman says....i've had like six people try to adopt me....it was confusing so i was marked un-adoptable. unless i picked one of the kids trying to adopt me.

They Senoirs at my school always pick a freshmen to take care of. It's funny my sister still refers to her's as her little freshmen eventhough he is now about 2ft. taller than she is.

our band does "Cluster Groups" where band leaders take small groups of the band during band camp, and teach the rookies how to do everything, and refresh the memories of old band members.

we have a club called big brother big sister and that is where upperclassmen volunteer to help with registration and show a group of freshman around school(this all before the school year) It looks good on college applications so a lot of people do it but otherwise it isn't really that segregated...i have made so many senior friends i probably will cry at their graduation playing pomp and circumstance T.T

Oraiste` We have freshman ownership... Anyone that's not a freshman pics a freshman as a slave. Although it's not really a slave type thing... Your freshman does stuff for you and you do stuff for your freshman... And when you graduate, you give your freshman slave a pair of your pants. we have freshman ownership too but really its only the drumline thats into it.
