She just worked as a grunt, setting type. Really, it was kind of a pain in her a**. The pay kept her in caffeine and fresh clothes, though, so what the problem was she didn't know.

The brunette glanced down to the brownies and allowed herself a smile. Note to self: Xavier apparently liked chocolate. She would remember this next time she decided to come bother him--which would probably be soon. He was a nice guy. Why hadn't she talked to him before? "Try paying for a five-dollar drink entirely in pennies," said Tate in her best commiserating tone. "Sixty bucks in singles and quarters could be worse, my friend."

"Old people and really poor people," she said, deep irony in her tone. "I wish they'd at least get quarters." Tate was a pitiless b***h, yes she was. Except, it seemed, for victims of monsters. But that wasn't a highly valued trait, so she sort of skated by. That was when a shrill beep interrupted whatever she was about to say, and she looked down at her watch with great irritation.

Great. "Fuuuuuck." Time, so easy to lose track of. "Sorry, I gotta bolt. You can just bring the plate down to Parker, he'll put it on the counter for me. I'm gonna be late for a final if I don't move my a**." With a brief wave, she scooted out the door.
