Foramen's eyebrows rose as Chaonis identified Moonstone as the one he wanted revenge on. Foramen had only been throwing out names - he hadn't expected to hit the target. Though he was not surprised that Moonstone was causing such a fuss again. For all that she was two ranks below Tanzanite, Moonstone had a load of batshit crazy that made her more dangerous than most other Lieutenants out there.
"Been there, done that," he told Chaonis. "She did the same to a friend of mine, once. Got to wait through a short coma to see how things would work out. Not fun, dude."
Foramen felt his pain. Or thought he did, since he had no way of knowing that Chaonis' friend was actually Chaonis' dad. Foramen totally got sitting through a parent lying in hospital, too. His experience hadn't ended as well as Chaonis'. But they weren't sharing that much information.
Still, what they were admitting to was a slight bond. It made Foramen a touch less angry over their introduction. Chaonis was allowed to act all PMSy after such a thing - Foramen certainly hadn't been at his best while Zac was hospitalised.
"b***h broke my arm, too," he added after another few leaps across buildings. "Kind of a mean weapon, for a starter Nega, that mask. Thought they all got useless crap."

Chaonis nodded his head, though he didn't make a comment on the commiserating. Every senshi and civilian seemed to be getting bogged down in this kind of stuff, and the Senshi of Danger didn't like it. But he supposed that was the dangerous part, for him and those near him, living in this place. There would always be risk, even just walking down the street.
Some were just more apt to fight than others.
For Chaonis' part, he was coming to realize that civilians had the short end of the stick here. People like his father, who were brave and wanted to fight but just got themselves in more trouble. Or people like those that called them terrorists, hiding in fear and becoming the victims of Negas and youma. They were the ones that needed protecting, whether they wanted it or not, whether Chaonis liked them or not.
Unfortunately, he didn't know how he could give himself such a specific duty as that, something as important as preserving lives and going out of his way to find those in need of help, while still having fun. Because he would be damned if he did anything that didn't pay off for him in some way as well.
Some called it selfish, Chaonis just considered it utilizing his skills and time.
"Yeah well," he grunted, slowing as they drew closer to the youma below. He could sense it now. "She's going to be shitting pieces of mask for months when I find her." He hadn't known that was what her weapon was: but it certainly helped to narrow things down. He motioned to the alley nearest them, pointing down, just in case the other hadn't felt the presence yet.

A smirk grew on Foramen's face. He approved of Chaonis' sentiments entirely. In fact, he found himself hoping he'd be there to watch when Chaonis and his devastating attack took on the lower-levelled Moonstone. Perhaps he'd bring some popcorn.
He felt the presence just before Chaonis paused and pointed downwards. Youma. The smirk grew. It wouldn't be quite as satisfying as beating up on a real person, of course, but it was still a nice outlet for their frustrations.
"Play time," Foramen agreed, tossing his hair back.
He quietly slipped off the roof, down into the alley. It was hell to hold still for the short time it took his eyes to adjust. Ah well, it gave Chaonis time to follow him down. Foramen might even let the other senshi have first strike. As long as there was enough left for Foramen to practice his limb-slicing rift technique.

Chaonis' bad mood seemed to vanish as he grinned broadly, nodding his head. Play time, indeed. He was more than ready, and all this talk about beating the hell out of Negas made his blood burn. It might not have been the right thing, but it was certainly going to get treated like it was exactly what Chaonis had been looking for.
Chaonis lacked the subtlety of the Senshi of Rifts. Rather than climbing down and being stealthy, he jumped right off the roof and fell down into the alley. The Youma didn't miss Chaonis, at least, though it was now oblivious to the senshi behind it. Which may or may not have been what Chaonis was thinking. It was hard to tell if he was planning, or just winging it.
"I'm glad to see you," he said to the youma, who didn't pause or pretend to understand him. It barreled toward him and the Senshi of Danger punched his first into his other palm expectantly. He wasn't going to kill the thing, though: he wanted to see its limbs get removed from its body.
He did leap at it though, slamming his fist into its face with a hoot of a laugh.

It seemed that boys would be boys, even if one of them technically had a sash-skirt-type-thing over the top of his pants. Like a pair of pre-teens, they were suddenly co-conspirators as soon as there was something else to face down. And just like boys, everything else was forgotten as soon as the first punch was thrown.
Foramen was determined to prove himself, after all of Chaonis' ragging on his power before. In the excitement of battle, it was no longer an irritated 'I'll prove you wrong' determination. More of an invitation to see just what kind of mischief Foramen could really get up to.
So when Chaonis leapt in first and threw a punch, Foramen was already calculating his moves around the other senshi. The punch was clearly going to connect, in which case the youma would be knocked as the respective angle of the swing - which Foramen took note of as Chaonis let fly - and there was roughly a 90% probability that the youma would do what any human in the same circumstances would do...
Angles set, Foramen lifted a hand and said, "Foramen Rift, Slice!"
A rift slashed into being in the air behind and to the side of the youma.
Chaonis' fist slammed into the youma's face. The youma fell backwards, angled slightly since the hit had contained a bit of swing from one side. Trying to regain it's balance, the youma windmilled its' arms, and... There! One arm fell into the rift, which Foramen abruptly cut off.
The howl that filled that air and echoed through the alley drowned out the splat of the severed arm dropping to the ground a few feet away.

Chaonis loved the thrill of a fight. He didn't care what kind of fight it was, particularly when he was in moods like this one. So long as he was hitting something, he didn't care if they were impossibly stronger than him, stupidly weaker, or anything in between. So long as they deserved it, he was game for a fight and glad to be supplied one.
And a monster like this one certainly deserved it, in his book. What else were they good for?
Having a partner in crime could either make it worse or make it a hell of a lot more fun. Since Foramen wasn't ripping on him or telling him to 'be careful' or 'think first', this was shaping up to be one of the latter. He didn't know the other was doing math in his head, which might have upset the balance. Instead, he just heard him call his attack, and landed lightly enough to jump back and get a good view of things while the other took over as lead in the fight.
He grinned.
The youma stumbled after Chaonis had hit it, just as Foramen had anticipated. The rift opened and that's when Chaonis landed and bounced back, taking in the rest of the event as the youma fell and...
"Holy s**t!" Choanis whooped. "That is AWESOME."
He laughed and cracked his knuckles, giving his nod of approval to the other as he charged in again, this time leaping and dragging his body sideways, slamming his foot into the youma's newly severed stump of a shoulder and making it slam into the ground. They had hit it so fast, punch, arm, kick, that it had no time to react.

Filled wth pride, Foramen shot his companion a fierce grin. Not only had his attack and calculations worked, but Chaonis had also been forced to see just how useful Foramen's ability could be. He still had yet to test it on something that wasn't a youma (he deeply regretted not giving it a try in Elysion), but that could come later. For now, it was enough to have an alternative to dropping trash cans on peoples' heads.
Chaonis immediately followed up the loss of the arm with a kick. He seemed to know his way around hand to hand fighting - first punching, now kicking, all of it miles above Foramen's own attempts at physical attacks. Foramen was faintly envious. Perhaps he'd ask for tips. Later, that was. For now, they still had a youma to take down.
At least it was on the ground after Chaonis' kick. Moving in closer so that his view wasn't blocked, Foramen focused on the remained arm. "Foramen Rift," he said. The youma moved faster than anticpated, springing back onto it's feet. "Slice!"
There was another splat of severed flesh. Unfortunately this time it was only half of the claws off the remaining hand. The enraged monster howled and backhanded Foramen, who was still too close. The redhead was slammed across the alley. Thudding into the wall of the a building, he gasped for breath. Instead, metallic liquid filled his mouth. Foramen spat frantically, wiping at his face with his gloves.
"Youma blood. Ick," he coughed out. The worst of the blood came off, smearing his face and revealing two scratches from the youma's claws. Nothing too serious, if you didn't count more bruising on Foramen's back. Privately, the senshi wondered if he'd make it past twenty-five without doing some kind of permanent damage to it - it seemed like everyone's favourite target lately.
Aware that the youma was still up, enraged, and sporting claws and teeth, Foramen struggled back to his feet. He couldn't leave everything to Chaonis, after all.

Chaonis loved when fights went well. Hell, he enjoyed them when they went bad, but it was never an option to lose. And to win with style? That just made everything a whole lot better. Not to mention it boosted his ego way too high without him actually having to do all the work. As far as he was concerned, it went so well because he was there to help.
He was all for physical attacks, all the time. Beating things to death, youma specifically, was his specialty. Unlike a lot of other senshi he had run into, his magic was simply a power up to his own strength, which went hand in hand with his penchant for punching.
He really couldn't complain. But sometimes he wished he could teleport the arms off of bad guys. Like right now.
"Whoa!"
Not expecting the youma to recover itself that quickly, he couldn't offer Foramen any help when he got smacked, though he wrinkled his nose to see all the youma blood on him. They bled? He thought they were made of dust. Oh well, didn't matter.
"Stay there! Leave this punk to me!" Chaonis said, sounding oddly angry. Protective? The guy was his temporary teammate, after all: he couldn't let a youma have its way. And he wasn't about to let his fellow senshi get beaten up when he could do something about it, now that he was well in the middle of the fight anyway.
"Warning! Earthquake zone!" he bellowed, fist drawn back, then flying forward with the boost of his magical attack to aid him. He slammed it into the youma's gut, sending the thing slamming backwards down the alley and into the dead end. It left a skid mark of claws in its wake.

Normally Foramen would have argued at being told to stay where he was. Hell, forget the arguing, he would have just disobeyed and done what he wanted. But most days didn't involve him wiping crap off his face after being slammed into a wall. He'd make an except for Chaonis today, he decided. Back on his feet, he leant against the wall and stretched out the kinks from his back, hissing when it pulled bruised muscles.
"Warning! Earthquake zone!" Chaonis yelled.
Suddenly being near the walls seemed like a bad idea. Foramen remembered the crazy amount of damage that Chaonis' attack had done during his demonstration. He darted back past Chaonis, hoping the earthquake damage wouldn't reach back that far behind the Senshi of Danger.
The youma appeared dazed after hitting the wall. Foramen wondered just what kind of internal damage a punch that caused the earth to split would have when directed at a stomach. He wouldn't be surprised if that had been enough to finish the youma off, though he kept a careful eye on the youma as he approached just in case.

Chaonis wasn't going to let this fight last much longer. Now that he had called his attack, he was feeling very cocky, very strong, and very eager to show this youma what really happened when it attacked two badass senshi at once. And yes, Chaonis was considering Foramen officially a badass, though he would wait until later to let the other one know he had been accepted into that elite club.
Whether he had applied to it or not.
Choanis focused and used what energy had built up, which was admittedly not much considering he had only landed one punch so far, and forced it to expel. When he had been weaker it would expel whenever it wanted, quickly or not, and he had no control over what happened. Now the earth split under his feet and toward the youma.
Mostly.
The buildings near rattled and a dumpster ended up tipping over haphazardly, but at least the ground opened enough to trap the youma, which wasn't moving very much anyway, leaving him prime for the killing blow. One more hit would easily make the thing burst into dust. Moving out of the way of a lamp life that had shaken loose and watching it burst on the floor, Chaonis looked over at Foramen and grinned.
"Want the honors? It did show you up a bit, there," he teased, but he also meant it, motioning for the other senshi to finish the job if he wanted. Not that Chaonis would wait long: he'd take a running kick at the thing's head if things took too long.

Foramen watched, impressed, as Chaonis trapped the youma by means of his eathquake attack. He was more than just a bit envious that Chaonis had such an offensive, effective attack. Not that Foramen didn't love his own teleporting, but he'd had to work hard at finding ways to do any actual damage to someone.
He perked up when Chaonis offered the final blow to him. "Sure," he agreed quickly. Usually Foramen's final blow was again using his powers to cause something else to damage and destroy the youma. He'd never taken one out physically before. The prospect was enticing.
Foramen stalked forward to the trapped youma. It snarled, but Foramen wasn't worried considering its remaining claws were just as encased by broken concrete and earth as it's legs. Standing over the youma, Foramen clenched his fist and drove it down into the monster's chest. He didn't have the strength of Chaonis, but it was enough. There was a flurry of dust as the youma exploded around the punch.
A brilliant grin split Foramen's face as he stood and turned to face to Chaonis. "That was ******** awesome," he told the other senshi. The whole battle and their very unorthodox partnership, not just the act of finishing off a youma with his own fist. Though that was pretty damn cool, too.

Chaonis loved his attack, considering he was an offensive guy, in more ways than one. Of course, that meant he had no real defense left to him. Earthquakes and powerful punches did little to keep him safe from taking damage, or from long range fighters, considering for his magic to expel and be useful he needed to land hits. It had his drawbacks, but he never thought of them.
Because he was too busy basking in how awesome he was most of the time.
Right now, though, things were in plural.
"We kicked that thing's a**!" He hooted, once Foramen had successfully made the thing explode into dead youma pieces. He moved over to the other senshi, clapping him hard on the shoulder. In a bro kind of way, not meaning to actually do him any damage. He just had some issues holding himself back, especially when he was so ramped up on adrenaline and pure, awesome fight induced, glee.
"Good job man! s**t, I thought you were going to cut its head off, but you made it explode with your fist. That's awesome, right? Nothing better than that, I think. Man! That was. The coolest. Fight. Ever."
He laughed again, looking at the dust, then around at the damage they had caused. He grinned with pride, approving of the scene. Laughing, he stretched and put his hands behind his head, stretching back and shaking his head, a grin plastered on his face.

Foramen shared in Chaonis' glee as the other senshi wandered over. The friendly clap to his shoulder had the smaller male stumbling from the force behind it. One of many downsides to being barely above five foot and slender as a girl besides. Still, Foramen couldn't hold onto a grudge when he was still so pumped up over their victory.
"It's head...?" he repeated. He blinked, then his expression turned pained. "Dude, that would have been awesome. Why didn't I -? Nevermind, next time, definitely."
Huh. All that time plotting to take off arms and legs, and Chaonis jumped straight to the heart of the matter with the suggestion to behead opponents. That would kick a**.
But he was still riding the high of taking something down physically, so he didn't linger on his anguish over missed baddassness for long. "God yes." Foramen smirked, a decidedly dangerous expression, as he was clearly planning nothing good behind it. "Ha, too bad it wasn't a Negadouche. Like any of them could have stood against that, either." Well, excluding General or above, really, but Foramen was in a good mood and didn't feel like tacking on limitations. And Chaonis was Super, right? They could manage more than what Foramen could on his own...
The thought made Foramen pause. The look he gave Chaonis was clearly assessing, though not without the hint of dangerous mischief from before. "Hmmm," he considered. "You're rather handy in a fight. And not preachy, like most senshi out there."
Was Chaonis thinking what Foramen was thinking?

Chaonis was also a tree, standing near his dad's height at six foot. He hardly seemed aware of the difference in their stature, though, too wrapped up in how awesome they both were to care. Height didn't matter anyway: they had just won that fight in the coolest way possible.
It wasn't about beating a youma. That happened all the time, after all. No, it was about doing it with style and a heightened degree of badassness that most people didn't appreciate, let alone make the time for. And the best thing was they had swung it without conscious planning: it was impulse and instinct.
That had to count for something.
"Dude, no way. Put one of them against a tag team like that? They'd be no better off than that youma. Even worse, because Nega's are smart enough to know when they're losing, and try to get away. At least that youma had the balls to stay and fight."
So maybe he was generalizing a bit too much, and letting his cockiness get ahead of him. It wasn't anything new, and so far he hadn't gotten tripped up in it too badly. Anyway, he was the Senshi of Danger. That meant in his thinking, as well, it seemed. He eyed Foramen when he spoke next, though, a wicked grin spreading across his face to replace the triumphant one from before.
"You're not useless or preachy, either. We could probably make a habit of fighting at the same time, you know?" Like a team? Chaonis had never really offered to team up with someone before, at least not more than once. But Foramen seemed to be riding on the same wavelength as Chaonis was.

Foramen gave a cocky grin at Chaonis' statement. In battle, he'd been too busy to properly appreciate Chaonis revising his earlier opinion on the use, or lack thereof, of Foramen's teleporting skills. The redhead took a moment to bask in the praise, as well as the knowledge that he'd made someone change their mind - better, perhaps, than someone thinking his rift powers were awesome right off the bat. (Though they were awesome and everyone should recognise and accept that fact.)
"We should definitely do this again sometime," Foramen agreed. Taking his cue from memories of other senshi doing the same, he rustled around in his sash until he located his senshi mobile and pulled it out. Aiming it at Chaonis, he let it record the senshi's details and synced phone. Now he'd be able to call Chaonis if they were both powered up at the same time.
Foramen might not have made it quite as far as 'team' yet, but clearly he was more than on top of the 'team up' bandwagon. This had easily been one of the most fun battles he'd had in some time, if not ever. He and Chaonis had also fallen easily into sync once the battle had begun. It deserved repeating.
