I actually really like spiders. I would get a pet tarantula and I've been meaning to but my roommate is terrified of spiders she would move out. She's already warned me twice. xp

If your roommates are anything like the roommates I've had, I'd say get the tarantula just to get rid of them xD

Any idea what kind of tarantula you'd get if you could or what you will get once you can?

I'm not picky on which one I think the Rose Hair Grammostola rosea is cute and pretty small.
And this roommate I love her she's been my roommate for 4 years so I would never get one just for her. That and the fact that she gets panic attacks when she sees any spider. There was once a little one in the shower I think it was a daddy long legs so a pretty normal spider nothing too out of this world. I literally thought she was dying in the shower from all the screaming I head. xD
I hope the situation gets better with your roommates and if it doesn't get the spider
twisted

There are no more roommates xD
I ended up leaving that school a while back and I'm not going to go back.
Change in career plans but the rose tarantulas are definitely my favourites <3
We had one in our bio lab named Rosie (original, I know) and I was about the only one who would even go near it xD
They wouldn't let me take her out of her tank though

Sorry to hear that, did you end up switching to another school because of your roommates?
Rosie xD
Yeah, they are really cute and I hate when I can't play with them. xp

Yeah, they are really cute and I hate when I can't play with them. xp

Roommates factored into it a bit. I had bad roommates ... 3 times >.>
That combined with lots of other things lead to a mental break down so I went home. Was supposed to head back later this year (in the fall) but since I've been home I've been able to re-assess everything in my life and what I want to do. The major I was going for (wildlife rehabilitation) would almost certainly require that I work with things that make me really uncomfortable (mice, rats, and snakes) either as food or as animals I was supposed to work with and jobs would be hard to find. Can't afford to be picky (avoiding the things that scare me) when jobs are hard to come by.
I'm just switching everything entirely.
I'm now going to go to a community college and become a pet groomer. I still get to work with animals (I'm a HUGE animal person) but it'll be free from things that scare the crap out of me and an added bonus is that jobs will be much easier to find AND the school is only a year long, much cheaper, and in my hometown xD

SORRY LONG POST IS LONG D8

Oh gosh, I hate rats and mice. I wanted a snake so bad but I can't feed it because I freak out when I see a mice or a rat. But I'm glad everything worked out. Its pretty cool you like animals that much that you changed careers but still stuck to working with them 3nodding

It sucked you got stuck with bad roommates. I'm going through that situation right now for the first time with my direct roommate. It's really uncomfortable and I had a breakdown but she doesn't want to move even though no one gets along with her. xp She just wants to stick around and make our lives hell as long as possible.

haha I'm almost over my fear of snakes. Don't love them but I'm not terrified but mice and rats will make me scream and cry and stand on top of a chair for an hour <.< dead or alive xD

And my first roommate thought being emo was "cool and unique" and praised being emo, bragged about cutting and having been suicidal, liked to pierce herself in my room (over my desk so my desk got blood on it), had lots of sick/twisted art around the room (like an angel with it's wing ripped off lying on the ground and arrows coming out of it's back - a creation of her own). She also had an eating disorder and was of the opinion I should have one too >.>
She also was VERY Christian and took offense to the fact that I just wasn't. She would invite people to our room and talk about youth group stuff and look over at me and tell me it "wasn't for my type" xD
She loved Twilight, would get angry and throw things ... it just wasn't cool (there was other stuff but you get the idea it was really uncomfortable)
Moved out to be with roommate 2, who was a slutty little cheerleader with a creeper ex who would show up to our room looking for her <.<
That and she was REALLY into drinking and would leave the bottles ALL over the room. Like her vodka bottles would be UNDER MY LOFT when my mum came D8
I don't even drink x.x

The last group shared an apartment with me and they'd eat my food and stay up until 3 am partying on school nights with their boyfriends. The one in the bedroom next to mine would have sex a lot of nights and I'd have to hear it <.<
They'd trash me when they were drunk and got mad when I wouldn't do their dishes for them >.>

Sorry to hear about your roomie sitch though Is it like more than 2 of you living together?
If it's just two, request that you move to another room.
If it's an apartment type deal, see your residence advisor and work something out and maybe see about being able to live with a friend somewhere else for a bit?

Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that I think I'm pretty sure I would have left too. That's way too much. I've heard of similar situations with friends and such here as well. It just sucks that people don't have any common courtesy. I live with two other girls we are in a 2 bedroom apt. I already met with housing but they can't kick anyone out of the dorm unless that person wants to leave. She said she was comfortable but that if I wasn't I could move. Even though she moved in because I begged my friends to let her live with us because she had no one else to live with. She has no friends on campus and she's been here four years. But its not cause people haven't tried trust me look at where am at. I had a breakdown for the first time in four years here when most of my friends haven't even seen me shed a tear. But because there is only three months left they arent doing much about it and I'm too tired to let it wear me out.

Did your residence advisor at least say something about sitting down between the two of you and trying to get things to work out?
At least where I was in the dorms, they would try and work out a meeting.
I mean, what's the other girl doing that's getting so bad? >.<
Any way to just avoid the problem?
Sorry she's making your life hell >.<
Roommates can have a knack for that.
I guess this just means next year you try for the friends or people you already know route or avoid them altogether?
Learn from mistakes and stuff, right?
It's really not fair for someone else to make your home somewhere you're not happy >.<

We had a meeting that's where I broke down. She's just rude in general and she's a bad person to live with she makes the atmosphere awkward and uncomfortable for everyone. She's very judgemental and its even hard of for me because everyone tried to tell me beforehand of how she talks behind others back and so on but I would stand up for her because I thought we were friends. My friends stopped being friends with her and then started telling a few of the things they had to put up with and I just had it. I tried solving out the problem before I even mentioned her moving out but she said she had no time. We weren't talking literally for three weeks so my roommates and I finally sat down wrote her email and asked her to live. Next thing you know she comes in with her own plates, bowl, mops and brooms and started cleaning and fixing her attitude with the roommates so by the time I went to the meeting she acted as if nothing was actually wrong that it was just me whining for no reason.

Maybe that email was just the kick in the pants that she needed?
I'm really sorry she's rude and stuff ... any chance you can do all your schoolwork in the more public area of the apartment or do it in the library on in the other bedroom so you can get away from her?
The one that you share a room with is always the hardest to deal with x.x
No one else ever knows how they act around you and after she's been as rude to you as she has been, you'll probably find it hard to put up with her, even if she does turn her attitude around >.<
Three months can't be toooo bad. I feel horrid for saying that but it looks like there won't be a way of getting away from her entirely.
Just try and make sure you don't have to spend more time than necessary with her

it's not that bad now that my temper has gone down. She also leaves every Friday to her hometown and works nights. Either way I have my friends and its my last semester so I decided no to let it bother me even though its easier said than done she's helped me learn a lot about people. But at least now I know. I believe everything happens for a reason so I'll just add that to the life lessons
