"You'll never loose me, Pippin!" He said proudly to the other boy, "Even if you can't see me or nothin!" He frowned and shook his head. "Nuh uh. I like them. People are just mean."

He sat down on the floor where Pippin found the book and peered at the cover. "Wow! He looks like a really scary pirate! Look at his hand!" He pointed to the hook. "Yah! Let's start with that one and it'll be our first book together. Wait! We gotta ..."

He reached back and yanked out a feather, wincing slightly before offering to to the boy. "Here you go! I like to give people feathers so they remember me. OK? You can have this one. It's oen fo my bestest."

Pippin felt slightly calmed by the other boy's words. He didn't feel quite as... geeky anymore, which was something in itself to be proud of. He never had semi-decent self-esteem like he did now!

Peering at the book he smiled again, "Yeah, that's Captain Hook! He's the bad guy in the story, and that..." he said, pointing to a young boy with a funny hat and green outfit, "Is Peter Pan." He said with a smile, Peter was one of his favorites, he was so cool and witty, always outsmarting Captain Hook and stuff.

Taking the feather he reached up to his headwings and pulled quickly, making a face as a feather popped out before handing it to Devan as he took the feather meant for him, "That's a good idea, here's mine! Yours is so soft!" he said, holding it between his fingers.

"Captain Hook." The boy repeated abandoning his book to look at Pippin's even though they were the same. "Peter Pan..." He pointed with Pippin at the character and scooted so that he could look over the boy's shoulder.

He glanced up at his new feather and stroked it lovingly. "Yours is too! Its really pretty..." He twirled it in his fingers as he put his head on Pippin's shoulder. He squinted at the words in the book. "On-ce a upon a ...tiime.." He started clearly having difficulty.

Pippin smiled as the other boy was close to him, he didn't mind at all. It certainly made reading easier, and he kind of liked the cuddlyness of it all. He was kind of a cuddler when it came to the right person. "Yours is prettier, it's not a boring color like gray." he stated, admiring his own feather and it's beautiful pink color.

Watching the other read he noticed that the boy hadn't has as much practice as Pippin himself had. Though, Pippin read almost all of the time, so he didn't expect anyone his age to have as much practice. "Just tell me if ya want me to read too, okay? I don't mind at all." he added, not wanting Devan to feel pressured to read, but also hoping he didn't feel like Pippin didn't want him to read. He didn't mind at all really, it was kind of cute watching him concentrate on each and every word like he was.

"I like gray and brown... earthy colors." He responded letting his wings flutter against Pippin's back. He had to avoid hurting the other boy's headwings when he leaned against him. Bending a wing hurt.

"Um ok..." He responded still in deep concentration. Finally he paused and pointed to the word 'Neverland'. "What's that say? Can you read some of the book to me?" He asked looking at the boy imploringly. The big word was kind of intimidating and he didn't want to look silly for not being able to read it.

"I like wearin' those colors at least." he said with a smile, taking one finger and pushing his glasses up on his nose. They were always falling down, and he was always pushing them back up again.

The young boy nodded, shifting his position before looking down at the text the other had trouble with, "That says 'Neverland'." he read, struggling at first with the word before getting the hang of it finally. He took over the reading duty, reading a few paragraphs to the other boy. He could tell the one big word had intimidated him, and it sort of made him smile because Pippin remembered the days he use to be like that before he really got use to reading. "Like it so far?" he inquired.

Devan watched him push up his glasses and decided he liked the action. It was rather adorable to watch. Neverland. He'd remember that.

When Pippin asked about the book he turned his eyes away from the colorful pictures and smiled, nodding. "Yah! We should try and go to Neverland some day! Just need a fairy!" He was interactive with the book as he put his finger down on one of the lost boys. "How come those boys are lost? Isn't Petter smart enough to help them get unlost?"
