Langley took a few more exaggerated steps before he noticed something was different. He bent his around and looked at the human on the ground from under his wing. "Geoo..."
"Waahaha-" Nyx started laughing before she realized what she was doing, and clasped her hands over her mouth. The agent took a few deep breaths through her nose before she trusted herself to hold back her laugher. "Sorry, sorry. Woo... Thats why we practice on the ground first." It was better to fall from a few feet than from a hundred, and falling was likely to happen a few times. "Get back on, try again." The white haired agent smiled at Faleen.

When the sound of laughter came from the other rocket, Faleen's hazel eyes blinked, and moved her gaze over to Nyx, a small sheepish smile forming over her own mouth. and she pushed herself back up to her feet, brushing sand off of her uniform. "Thankfully so" she added with a smile of her own, cheeks still pink, it had not hurt to fall from that height.
"Alright... forward" she told the Pidgeot again, to climb back on and give it another attempt, trying to stay on the Pidgeot while it moved the best she could. "Its strange not being in complete control over how it moves." she explained

"Hm... I suppose so." People could completely control how a machine moved, it was true; They engineered things to be as easy to use as possible, there was no risk of being thrown out of a moving car (save for a collision). "But, you can learn how the pokemon moves, and adjust your own movements for it." Scientists were all about observation. Luckily for Faleen, the ride was much smoother in the air.
"Ah. One bit of advice, when you get into the air. Lean with him. You'll most likely have an instinctual reaction to try and keep yourself straight, but fight it, or you'll throw him off balance." Nyx kept an eye on Faleen while she rode her Pidgeot around the sands. "Once you're comfortable, try directing him."

A harness of some kind would really... really be beneficial here, even if to just have something to hold onto to keep her secure on the bird. leaning back a bit, Faleen was wearing a thoughtful expression as she glanced around the form of the bird "Hm..." she hummed softly to herself before she turned her attention back over to Nyx, head tilting to the side when a connection was made "Ah, I see, that makes sense, the same is applied for when driving a motorcycle." This pleased, and put Faleen a little at lease when this was realized, having some similarity to a machine.

"Oh? I've never driven a motorbike..." Nyx made a point of just plain not driving, period. The idea of driving something even more dangerous than a car was horrifying.
Langely seemed fairly responsive to the physical commands, even though Faleen had never done it before. The Pidgeot would squawk a few times in warning when he thought the girl was digging her heels too hard, but never tried to throw her.
"I'm guessing you have? I assume since you know that, and also because of your fondness for machines." The glory of a well engineered machine or robot was not lost on Nyx, however that particular facet of the sciences eluded her. Sure she could manage to flail her way through the basic physics of something, but building or programing something was completely beyond her. "Ah, let me know when you think you're ready to get into the air. We'll stay low, and don't have to stay up for long."

Faleen nodded, though didn't look up from her consentration of not falling off the Pidgeot again. "I have have experience, yes, I helped build one in a shop club." She explained.
At the mention of taking the next step into actually flight, Faleen looked up finally. "... alright" she agreed, nodding stiffly. "I'm ready." She would have to get in the air sooner of later, and after some time, she was able to hang on okay with him on the ground, even if she had to be corrected a few times by Langley.

"Alright!" Nyx smiled reassuringly at Faleen, "This'll be easy, don't worry. Just hang on." She bent down and told the mew-pidgeot what she wanted it to do, and then to Langley. "Up."
Nyx held on tight as Darwin started flapping awkwardly, eventually lifting off of the ground, but swaying back and forth as he attempted to get used to his wings. Unlike Langley, he didn't always have wings, and floating through the air was much different than flying.
Langley didn't wait for Faleen to repeat the command; The Pidgeot gave a few experimental flaps, and took off into the air. Take off was a little bumpy, but certainly less so than Darwin's sloppy lift off. Once they were in the air, though, things were much smoother than tan they had been while Langley was walking on the ground.

Watching Nyx give the commend to the Mew, and observing for a moment while she flew. The Grunt hesitated before opening her mouth to give the same commend. But the bird was not waiting for her, he had already spread his wings and flapped them.
Alarmed by this, and the realization that they were rising up into the air, Faleen reached forward, and wrapped her arms around the birds neck tightly to avoid from falling off. "Ohhh dear oh dear oh dear!"

Langley squawked sharply in protest to having his neck constricted, even if it was his fault. Luckily, it didn't seem to impede his flight, and he glided along, following behind Nyx and Darwin. Faleen could direct him if she wanted to, but as she was hanging on for dear life at the moment, and he needed a direction to fly in, they a convenient guide.
The agent didn't seem to be steering her mount, as much as she was just along for the ride. Darwin was very obviously getting the hang of things. He would start gliding along, catching an air current, and then suddenly drop or rise in the air a foot or so; This was not at all natural. Nyx seemed to be doing a good job of staying on, though, and wasn't terribly concerned for her safety, they weren't that high up, and they were on sand.

Faleen had her eyes shut tightly, arms still firmly around Langley's neck, she seemed to be muttering something very rapidly while staying on top the back of a flying pokemon. a list of what could be distinguished as parts for some kind of mechanical device, or more like, steps to take to construct such a device that she was picturing in her head.
She was using it to try and calm herself down, view things in a logical way... was okay, she hadn't fallen off, and though she felt as if she might fall off, the actual movement while in the air was becoming... a little more predictable.

"Go fly off somewhere! Langley knows the way back!" Nyx shouted, though it wasn't guaranteed that Faleen would have been able to hear her over the wind rushing past their ears.
The Pidgeot cawed, slightly irritated that the girl still had her arms around his neck. It was fairly uncomfortable, and they weren't even going that fast, or that high.

She heard, even over her muttering, and she wasn't about to disobey an order from an Agent. It took her a moment to get her body to move though, the irritation from the Pidgeot was apparent, and as a result, Faleen managed to slowly.... slowly loosen her grip from the Pidgeot, remaining low over the bird's neck hands gripping onto the sides to keep her secure.
Here she lingered for a time, breathing deep, before she finally moved her leg, gently pressing her heel into his side the opposite of the direction she wanted him to go, to get him off the trail of the other bird. She simply did her best to refrain from looking down.

Langley chirruped, thankful that the human had finally let go of his neck. He felt the heel pressing into his side and tilted slightly to the other side, turning towards where Faleen was communicating she wanted to go.
There was bound to be something interesting in the desert to see, besides the Rocket's tower, and Faleen could go anywhere she wanted on the back of the pokemon.

It took her some getting used to, for the most part she kept fairly low, and close to the Pidgeot, not taking chances, Her heart beat fast in worry whenever he would flap those large wings, worried one would catch her and knock her off, but, it never did happen.
As time went on, she continued to move the bird in different directions. The more time she spent doing this, the more comfortable she seemed to get... starting to get used to the motion of the creature, and more confident in her ability to stay on without falling off. slowly her grip became less vice like, more relaxed, and slowly she started to actually look around, and even started to try out different heights.
It was much like having the freedom and openness of a motorcycle, though, she did miss the rumble of an engine, this was so... quiet, only the rush of air, and occasional beating of wings. Flying over the desert gave her a different perspective than before... she spend hours and hours every day looking over a mapped out grid of the desert, but she had never seen it like this... she could locate defenses below, becasue she knew they were there from works she's helped with.
Okay... so maybe this wasn't so bad after all.

Once Faleen calmed down, Langley seemed to notice, and responded in kind, flying steadier than he had been when she'd been doing a wonderful impression of a necklace. They could stay in the air as long as she wanted, really, but the sun was starting to get high in the sky, and everyone would probably be getting hungry soon. Not that he didn't enjoy stretching his wings.
