Even though he played dumb, Achiu understood every word that the blond human girl said. He hid his anger and grief until he had been taken back to his cage, the gate was locked and the guards had left. He simply slumped to the ground, his head laying on his front legs.
When he was alone, he threw his head up to the sky and let out a long, loud roar, letting all the pain in his soul rip up his throat. A tear the size of a baseball rolled from his eye down his cheek and splashed on the ground.
When he ran out of breath, he slumped back down, curling in a ball and surrendering to his grief. Tomorrow he would be sent to the mainland, and he would most likely be dead by the end of the week. "I'm sorry, Silia. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I never wanted to abandon you like this. I hope that you'll be alright. I love you. I always have."
Silia smiled as she stepped a bit closer and settled herself on the ground. "A pleasure, Hara. I'm sorry, I don't get out much. It's nice to get to talk to someone else for a change."
Just then, she heard the ground above and behind her crumble, then a female voice screaming out in terror. Looking over her shoulder, she saw a rock slide and a human girl tumbling down, bouncing off the cliff as she fell toward the ocean. Without even thinking about it, she got up and dove off the cliff, folding her wings and legs so she could catch up to her. Barely a foot above the water, she reached out with her front leg and caught the girl gently but firmly in her paw and spread her wings to stop her decent. "It's alright now. You're safe." Flapping hard to gain altitude, Silia spiraled her way back up to the ledge she and Hara had been sitting on.
Setting the human girl down carefully, she backed up a few steps, not wanting to frighten her, and not sure if the girl would be dangerous. "Are you alright? What happened?"

Thanatos stopped mid step as the man called his name. He crossed his arms and smiled " A job?" he asked "well then I'm your guy, what do you need me to do?" he asked though he knew it was most likely transport of something. He kept the smile on his face and he crossed his arms and pulled his sleeves up and he waited but he started to fiddle with his keys " Lets see, if going to do this, I better get my spare parts from storage just in case I need to make any more repairs." he said.

Donaldson nodded. "Very good. We need you to report to the Daniels labs building tomorrow morning to take a delivery to the mainland. The specifics and location for delivery will be supplied to you upon arrival." Donaldson gave the young man a very serious stare. "I cannot stress enough to you. This is a very expensive, highly delicate and dangerous cargo you will be transporting. If you succeed, you will be rewarded handsomely, I'm sure. If you fail, it will most likely mean your life. If that is acceptable, you have the job."

He began to laugh when the man said it would mean his life, he never took things like that seriously. He smiled ' Oh come on man, whatever it is I'm transporting can't be all too dangerous, and if if that doesn't kill you, you aren't either, but its good to see you at least have a sense of humor." he said and smiled " I'll be there and I'll get your cargo there fast don't you worry." he said " That means I get to take a different jet." he said and smiled " This is awesome I can't wait!" he said.

Even though she was blind, Dawna closed her eyes tight, knowing that the end was near. But as she felt the spray of the ocean starting to dampen her skin, she also felt something solid clench around her body. "It's alright now. You're safe." She heard a voice above her call as a leathery flapping started up and the breeze changed direction.
Within a minute, she felt solid ground beneath her again. She moved carefully and felt pain in varying degrees all over her body. "I heard your voice and another, I was following them and didn't notice the cliff until it was too late. I managed to keep myself from walking off it, but then the ground crumbled under me and...." She remembered the feeling of her rescue; the strong...... hand that had caught her, the scaly feel of her skin, the sound of the wings. "You're a dragon, aren't you?!" There was only the slightest hint of fear in her voice that was more than overshadowed by aw and fascination.
Hara gave a sad smile at Silia's comment. "Yeah, I kinda know what you mean. I don't get to talk to many people, either." She cocked her head a bit. There seemed to be a bit more to what Silia was saying, but before Hara could ask, an avalanche started behind the other dragon and a girl went tumbling toward the ocean.
Hara was considering diving after her, but before she could make up her mind, Silia was already over the edge of the cliff. Hara moved to the edge, watching to make sure everything went alright.
When Silia returned up with the girl, Hara stayed back, being cautious of this strange human. When the girl realized what they were.... "Well, what if we are? What are you going to do?"

Silia listened to the human girl's explanation, relaxing a bit that she wasn't freaked out yet. But then she stopped talking for a moment before bursting out with the realization that Silia was a dragon. Silia was completely confused. "Ummm, of course we are. I mean, didn't the whole giant winged lizard thing sort of give that a...." She studied the girl closer and realized that her eyes had a far away quality to them, like she wasn't seeing anything around her. "Oh! Oh I see. You're blind, aren't you?"

Dawna cringed as the second female spoke up, not sounding very happy. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it. I just..."
Then the female who saved her spoke up. When she realized that Dawna was blind, Dawna gave a sad smile. "Yes. I am. Have been for years. But most of the time it's not a problem. I just got a little too worked up about finding the two of you and wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
She turned toward where she thought the second dragon was. "As for what I'm going to do.... Well, nothing really. I mean, I came out here to find dragons and get to know them, but I don't want to cause any trouble, so if you don't want me around, I'll just...AHH!" She tried to stand, but the pain screamed up her leg and nearly made her pass out. "Oww, my leg!" Tears started running down her cheeks.
Hara realized quickly that she had been a little snippy to a girl who hadn't done anything to them. She felt a bit badly about it, particularly when the girl said that all she wanted to do was get to know them. But before Hara could speak up to apologize, the girl nearly passed out while trying to stand.
Hara carefully moved closer to examine the human's leg. "Silia, I don't think human legs are supposed to bend at that angle..."

(Sorry this took so long. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired sad actually, it's just lots of work and a cold, but still...))
Silia took an automatic step forward when the girl tried to stand and fell back down. When Hara mentioned about the girl's leg, she came closer and examined it. "Definitely broken." She ran a critical eye quickly over the rest of the girl's body. "Hmm, I think the leg is the worst, but you've got a lot of scrapes and gashes. They could get infected if they don't get cleaned."
Going through an internal struggle, Silia looked out at the sky. The sun was sinking low over the horizon. "It's getting late. It'll be dark soon. This island is more dangerous after dark, particularly for humans. Especially with your injuries, it's unlikely you'd make it till morning. If it's alright with you, I think it would be a good idea if you came home with me. At least for the night." Her gaze turned to a glare, and her voice had a threatening edge to it when she spoke again. "But I warn you; you must never tell where my cave is or anything that you will learn. This is a great trust I am putting in you. If you were to betray that, you would wish I had let you drown in the ocean this evening."

Dawna concentrated on taking deep breaths and trying to force the pain away from her mind. She barely registered the second dragon telling the first one, who's name apparently was Silia, that her leg was bent at an odd angle. She noticed it more when she felt the warm presence of one of the dragons come closer to her.
After a moment, she heard Silia speaking to her and made an effort to listen. "Well, any of the little human settlements would be safe enough for me, and I could get help there. But I would never dream of subjecting either of you to that type of danger." She held up her hand, a human symbol of an honest, heartfelt promise or oath. "I promise, I will never tell anyone anything unless I get your permission first. And you don't need to worry about me telling anyone where you live. It's not like I can draw them a map or anything." She smiled, waving her hand in front of her eyes.
Hara was slightly nervous about the idea of taking an unknown human into a dragon's den, but she had to agree with Silia; being this close to dark, there was little choice. "Say, Silia. If it's alright with you, I'd like to tag along. Of course, if you'd rather I didn't....." She stepped back a step to show that she wasn't trying to push herself in.

Silia smiled a little at the girl's attempt at a joke. "I'm sorry. I guess that was a little snappy. But we dragons can't be too careful. You understand."
She turned to smile at Hara. "Of course. You're welcome to come along if you want to. If you're ready to go..."
She turned back to the girl. "Alright. The only way to get to my cave is to fly. With your injuries, I don't think you'll be able to ride, so I'll have to carry you." Stepping up to her, Silia carefully wrapped her paw around the girl making sure not to jostle her too much and also to make sure that the broken leg would be supported so it wouldn't get injured further. "Alright, try to hold as still as possible. We will be flying rather high over some unforgiving terrain. I wouldn't want you to fall and get injured more, or worse." She launched herself into the air and started flying.
After a moment, she realized she had never introduced herself to the human, and didn't know her name either. "By the way, I am Silia. What's you're name?"

Dawna smiled. "Don't worry. I understand. I don't know if they're true or not, but I've heard some rather horrible rumors about how some humans are treating you dragons." She shivered a bit at the thought.
She sensed Silia step closer to her, then felt her scaly paw wrap around her. It hurt at first, from the jostling of injured parts, but once she was settled, it was a comfortable enough perch. When Silia warned her to hold still because of the height of their flight, Dawna wrapped her arms tightly around Silia's leg. It wasn't that she didn't trust the dragon to hold her tight enough, but it gave her an added sense of security.
She could hear the leathery flap of dragon wings and feel the rush of wind on her face when they took off. It was a scary but exhilarating experience. She had flown on planes many times, to the point that, except in rough skies, it didn't really bother her. But this was something totally different. She figured it was one of the few closest ways humans would ever get to actually flying by themselves.
Then a voice from above broke through her thoughts. She smiled up at the dragon. "Pleasure to meet you, Silia. My name's Dawna. So, you live in a cave? That's interesting. I remember going exploring in caves with my father. Of course, that was before I got sick and lost my sight."
Hara smiled when Silia agreed to let her come. "Great! I'm ready whenever you are." She didn't have many friends, and this was an opportunity to make a new one. And it seemed to Hara that SIlia was possibly just as lonely as she was. She had taken the time to come over and attempt to talk to a complete stranger for no other apparent reason than to have a chat.
She took off right behind Silia, staying a short distance behind, since she had no idea where she was going. She smiled at Dawna's comment about living in caves. "Lots of dragons live in caves. All living creatures need shelter, and outside of caves, what could be big enough to hold us?" She chuckled a bit. "I'm Hara, by the way."
She turned to look at Silia. "So, where is your cave?"

Silia closed her eyes when Dawna mentioned the cruelties that humans inflicted on dragons. A single tear slipped down her cheek, but she shook away the feelings. As much as she missed her beloved Achi, there wasn't anything that crying could help. "Yes, it is rather terrible."
She smiled down at the girl when she felt her arms wrap around her leg. Humans could be such funny creatures. Silia had no intention of dropping her, but if it made the girl feel better, then where was the harm?
She chuckled at Hara's explanation of living in caves. "Rather true, isn't it?" She then turned and answered her question in the old tongue. "Sia waere ui svern persvek wer verthichai." (My cave is up in the mountains.) "We're nearly there. Just a little further." She looked back down at Dawna. "So, you used to go cave exploring, huh? Did you enjoy it? Ever find anything interesting?"Draconic courtesy of http://draconic.twilightrealm.com/

Even though Dawna couldn't see the pain on Silia's face, she could hear it in her voice. 'Wow. I wonder what her story is? I won't ask, though. At least not right now. Really doesn't sound like she's up for sharing.'
Dawna joined in the giggle at her own expense. "Yeah, I guess that makes some sense, doesn't it? I mean, it's not like you can build houses like humans." Then a thought struck her and she cocked her head curiously. "Or can you?"
Before her question was answered, she heard Silia say something to Hara in a strange language that she had never heard before. She had no idea what it meant or even what language it was, but before she could ask, Silia was questioning her again. "Um, yeah. It was fun. I've been in caves all over the world. My parents are archeologists, so we did a lot of traveling. But then I got really sick, and I ran a fever so high, it caused brain and nerve damage and left me blind. They wouldn't let me do any more exploring after that. They'd be furious with me if they knew I was here. But I'm a grown up. They can't control me anymore."
She thought about the second part of the question. "Hmmm. I think the neatest thing we ever found was a bunch of relics from the Myans down in South America. They're this ancient tribe of humans that was wiped out a long time ago."
Hara saw the tear that trickled down Silia's face, but figured it wasn't her place to ask. When Silia spoke to her in the old language, Hara was a little confused as to why, but simply nodded her understanding. Looking forward, she saw the mountains just a little way off.
By the time Dawna was done with explaining about her spelunking past, they were within a minute of the mountain. "Ok, so what part is your cave in?"

Silia cocked her head at the house building question. "Hmm, that's an interesting one. I don't think any dragon has really had the inclination to try. At least, none that I've ever heard of."
She felt sorry for the girl's story.how terrible must it be to be so sick, and then to lose your sight from it? And then to have your parents hold you back because of it.
"Myans, huh? Interesting. You know, they used to worship dragons. Such a shame that they had to be wiped out by their own kind." She realized how that sounded the minute she said it and shook her head with a rumbling sigh. "I'm sorry. I didn't quite mean that the way it sounded."
Silia pointed with her free paw. "Right there. Come on in." She banked down and landed just inside the entrance, moving out of the way as fast as she could on three legs to give Hara enough room to land.
Going to a comfortable, out of the way area of the cave, she set Dawna down carefully. Grabbing some of her wood stockpile, she stacked it up a short way from the girl and used her fire breath to light it. She then went back to her stockpile of useful items and pulled out a metal bucket. "Ok, Dawna, you just relax for right now. There's a stream not too far from here. I'm going to go get some water so we can get you cleaned up, alright? Hara, would you mind keeping her company for a few minutes? It won't take me long."
Before she left, she turned to check her eggs. The fire was getting low, but she could sense enough heat radiating off the rock to keep them safe for now. "Don't worry, babies. Mama will take care of you in a little while. I love you." Heading back to the entrance, she took off and sailed down to the stream that ran by just at the base of the mountain.

Dawna found that listening to Silia and Hara was rather interesting. She had never thought that she would get this close to dragons, much less be having a conversation with two of them.
Dawna shook her head when Silia apologized for the comment about the Mayans. "It's alright. I think there are lots of humans that would agree with you. But that was the way things were centuries ago. At least some people have become more civilized since then."
When Silia said that they were there, Dawna braised for the landing. She figured that Silia would do her best not to jostle her too much, but as sore as she was, she figured any little bump would be pretty painful. The landing wasn't too terrible, and she was able to breath through the hurt. She shortly found herself being placed on a stone floor, but it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as she would have thought.
She listened as Silia went about the cave. She listened as wood was stacked near and felt the warmth when it was set on fire. She then heard a rustle of objects being moved, and the clang of something metal being pulled out. When Silia mentioned about a stream and getting water, the sound made sense. 'I see. Must have been a bucket. Wonder what a dragon is doing with human objects?'
She then listened closely as Silia seemed to talk to herself. 'Babies? Mama? Wow, that's neat. I don't think ANYONE'S ever seen baby dragons.'
Looking for something to distract her from her pain, she sought out Hara. "So, how long have you and Silia known each other? I guess you've never been here before, since you didn't know where the cave was..."
Hara landed right behind Silia and stayed out of the way while she went about doing things. When she asked her to keep Dawna company, Hara nodded. "Of course. Not a problem." She went over and settled herself close to the human girl.
She waatched as Silia slipped back to a part of the cave that was almost completely hidden in shadow. She couldn't entirely make out what the other dragon was saying, but she thought she caught the word babies thrown in there. When Silia walked away, Hara noticed a bright glow and what appeared to be two dark, shiny shapes sitting on top. 'Eggs! Wow, that's interesting. I guess it makes sense of a few things. I wonder where the father is?' Then a memory clicked. 'Oh! That might explain the tear at the mention of human cruelty toward dragons. Poor Silia.'
She was snapped out of her thoughts by Dawna asking her a question. "Hmm? Oh! Actually, we just met a little while before you dropped in. I live near the ocean, but I was up on the cliffs getting some sun. Silia came down, hunting I assume. When she was done, she saw me and decided to come have a chat. I guess she was a little lonely. So am I. Don't have really any friends."
