Devicius felt the weight lift off his shoulders--she would stay with him? Allow him to stay with her? That was one of the biggest fears that had been nagging at his mind, for he had spent so much of his life abandoning other mares. What could keep her from leaving him? A bit of guilt made his way into his thoughts. Was this the way that his previous trysts had felt? And he had thought nothing of them... this was only another reason he wanted to treat Charlotte the way she deserved. He didn't want to hurt her like he had hurt so many others.
She said his name... and it sounded sweet with her voice. Like it belonged there.
"Charlotte," he responded, perhaps a strange response to his own name. But he wanted to say her name, let her know that he was thinking of her, and only her. He grinned into her violet eyes, letting his eyes shift over the lovely blush on her cheeks.
"Perhaps I can call you my star? My little star... a perfect name. You are my star." He leaned in and touched his nose to hers. It was as soft as a butterfly's kiss, and an extremely intimate touch for one in his predicament. But he felt like she deserved it. And he wanted it for himself--there was no denying it.
"Thank you Charlotte. For all you've taught me, and all that you've yet to show me. I don't know where I'd be if I was without you."

Charlotte's blush could only grow and she had a fleeting thought that after tonight her face was going to be permanently tinged red. "I-I can be your star."
Her eyes were on his and once more her heart was galloping in her chest, when his velvety nose touched hers ever so softly she was sure her heart had grown wings because at this moment it, no her, she was soaring. No one had ever said such beautiful words to her before tonight or had ever made an attempt to make her see past her own outer self.
She closed her eyes and turned her face away slightly, her nose tingling and the blood rushing in her ears. Charlotte inhaled deeply to steady her nerves and to fill her lungs with oxygen. She had forgotten to breathe for a few moments and now felt like she'd just galloped in a race at full speed. Once she was steady she looked back to the adoring stallion next to her. "I should be thanking you as well. You've shown me that I'm beautiful in my own way and, though I may still have my insecurities, you make me forget them." She carefully leaned against him. "It would seem as though we need each other."

Her words could not have been truer. It did seem as if they needed eachother--whether she needed him more than he needed her, he did not know. But he had a feeling that his attention was just as beneficial to her and hers was to him. He was glad that she realized this, and with his emotional barrier finally gone, he felt like he could truly relax with her.
Here was a mare that he could love forever!
"Indeed," he murmured, resting his cheek against her snow white hair. He looked upwards once again, seeing the beautiful pattern of the stars. He would imprint them in his mind, so as to remember them for the rest of his life. This night was the light in his life.
"Let us sleep now, Charlotte. The night finally calls to me." He laid back down in the grass, softly pulling her along with him, nestled in his wings like a babe in cloth. Her warmth against him was comforting and relaxing, perhaps like the warmth of a mother, if he had ever known his own.
"Tonight is the start of something new, my star. The start of us."
