Howl doubted it. His experiences with Lance (which were few) did not paint him as an understanding man. In fact, his experiences with Lance said the exact opposite. Surely, surely, Lance would make fun of him. So he was absolutely astonished when Lance not only didn't laugh; but offered to help.
"What? Help?" The wizard's expression was one of shocked disbelief. One could hardly blame him; Lance had made it clear each time they had met that they were rivals. Then, all at once, it changed; an expression that could only be describe as graditude. "Thank you," he said, beaming at Lance briefly. Maybe he'd been wrong about Lance after all. Maybe he really was a nice guy.
He looked to Kali and shook his head. "It wasn't a backfired spell," he corrected her. He studied Lance before nodding to himself. The boy had proved himself worthy of the truth. "I was attempting to summon my son, Morgan, from another world. There was some kind of barrier, my summons didn't go through. It'd done that before, but this is the first time another spell was shot at me." He straightened. "I was hoping to surprise Sophie before the wedding; it wouldn't be the same if Morgan wasn't there."
The wizard paused and narrowed his eyes at Lance. "Of course I can," he hissed. "When I find what hex was thrown at me."

Kali looked up, astonished, amazed, and impressed all at once that Lance didn't take this opportunity to make fun of Howl. She was stunned - so stunned that she didn't react for a few moments. Long enough for Howl to confess what he'd done, anyways. But then she was whirling around, wrapping her arms around Lance and giggling, kissing him hard. She was tempted to tell him he was a 'good boy', but refrained, instead snuggling into the crook of his neck.
"You want to help? Yes! Please help~" She wanted Lance to be involved, for him and Howl to get along. She turned to Howl and beamed, still hugging Lance. "Don't worry. We'll find that hex. Lance can help us look through any books you have for it." she was cheery and jubilant, a stark contrast to her earlier, furious self.

...Howl had a son? Really? He supposed it made sense, since the wizard was apparently older than he appeared to be, - though the Gothic boy STILL wasn't sure whether or not that claim was true - but it still seemed strange to him. Howl didn't exactly seem to be like the fatherly type, but hey, maybe he was a better one than what Lance was picturing.
Any doubts about Howl's supposed duties as a father quickly left as Kali suddenly wrapped her arms around him and proceeded to give him quite the kiss. He was surprised and confused for a moment, but quickly returned the gesture without any complaints and completely ignoring Howl's claim at being able to fix the hex that was on him. Right now, he was more focused on the fact that Kali was kissing him, and didn't really give a damn about whatever the blond wizard was saying.
"Help. Sure. I can do that." The black-haired boy would be happy to help if it meant that he got more kisses from Kali later. "Sounds easy enough." Besides, he'd just be looking through from books...

Howl wrinkled his nose at Kali ad Lance's behavior. Clearly, clearly, the most romantic part of his brain (or was it his heart?) was still disfunctional. Somehow, he still didn't believe that Lance was offering to help out of the kindness of his heart. He expected the teenager was simply agreeing to please Kali (not that he blamed him, he wold have done the same thing if it were him).
He flashed Kali a grateful smile. "Sure. I'll fetch the books. Now, do you guys want anything to drink? Tea? Juice? Something stronger?" Maybe he could drink his problems away. Maybe... Maybe drinking was the solution? "I've got rum," he added. He studied Kali for a moment before shaking his head. "But in your condition, Kali, I'd advise against it. It's not very good for you." Without waiting for a response, he summoned several books at once; large volumes came flying out of his bedroom, and fell into a heap in the livingroom. Just the way Howl liked it. Messy and disorganized--in a sense. Howl knew where everything was.
"Should be under countercurses," he said helpfully, picking up a dusty volume and cracking it open.

Kali gave Lance one last, soft kiss, before following Howl inside. "Juice is good for me. I don't recommend you drink, though, Howl..." She trailed off in her opinion as Howl offered an opinion of his own. Her condition? She stared at him, bewildered, and unsure of what he meant. What condition did he think she have? She was perfectly healthy!
After a moment, she shrugged, and picked up one of the large volumes from the floor. Howl was weird. That was all there was to it.
"Counter curses. Alright." She sat down on the floor, and looked up at Lance, patting the space beside her. "Here. I'll help you if you find a language you can't read." Her own books had random pages filled with Latin thrown in the middle. Not that she was an expert on it, but she knew enough to manage to muscle her way through it. She didn't suppose Lance knew any of it, though.
"This shouldn't take too long." She was cheery, and optimistic as she flipped the book open, flicking past pages until she reached the section she wanted. With a small smile, she hunkered down to work.

Howl raised an eyebrow. He smirked. He snickered. Kali clearly didn't know what was going on, and he found it absolutely hilarious. "Just," he started, "you remind me of Sophie right before I had to turn her into a cat to save her from the djinn. Glowing and beautiful."
He picked up another book, tossing the one he had been looking through previously down, and paused, putting a finger to the corner of his mouth. His expression was thoughtful, until he looked to Kali. "Let's go shopping," he decided. "For stuff. Come on, Kali. Please? It'll be fun. I'll buy you something~"
It seemed to escape the wizard that he was behaving--well. Quite like a female.

Lance quite willingly kissed Kali back, only reluctantly breaking it when she pulled back to talk to Howl. Like Kali, he was confused by the blond wizard's comment and raised an eyebrow, but figured that it was just some weird magic thing that Howl was talking about.
"I don't think you want to give me alcohol if I'm supposed to be reading." the young man stated simply before he went over to pick up one of the books. He took a seat next to Kali when she gestured for him to do so and smiled at her before popping the book open. This one appeared to be written in English, luckily.
They hadn't been going at this for more than a few minutes before Lance heard Howl mention going shopping. The gothic teen lifted his head from his book and raised a eyebrow at Howl. "For someone who wants to get back to their regular self, you sure aren't acting like it's your first priority." Lance stated dully. "I would think that you'd be more focused on, y'know, finding that counter-curse."

Howl, she decided, was definitely being more strange than usual. She shook her head, and continued flipping through the book. It was probably just the curse talking - which, she thought, was emphasized by his next statement. Shopping?
Oh, god, they had to work faster.
"Here! I think I've found a spell that will work. Howl, stand up...or...maybe we should do this in the back yard...just in case something explodes..." She kept her finger on the spell as she managed to get to her feet, looking up at her blonde friend. Hopefully the spell would return him to normal, she thought. And he'd stop going on about glowing cats...or whatever it was he was talking about.

"What? Turn back?" Howl studied Lance blankly. He gave the teenage boy a look that said 'Turn back? Are you on crack?' He blinked a few times before he seemed to come back to his senses. "It is my first priority," he snapped. He shook his head frusteratedly. The curse was taking hold of him, he could feel it.
He looked over Kali's shoulder and grinned. "That'll work," he said. "Yard, right. He stood up, and taking Kali's hand, attempted to lead her to his back yard. Despite that spring hadn't started, the plants were already starting to bloom. The grass was slowly regaining its green color that had faded from being under snow for so long. "Ready Kali?"

Kali followed Howl to the back yard quite willingly, stepping away from him once they were out there.
"Just stand still, okay?" She said to him, then began to mutter to herself, going over the spell quietly. She didn't take the time to admire the scenery as she lifted her hand, and traced something in the air - a symbol, it seemed, but she did it too fast to follow. Then, she spoke the incantation, clearly, so it wouldn't muddle and do strange things to Howl.
An explosion of light enveloped the wizard, and Kali yelped, dropping the book, afraid that something had gone wrong.
"Howl!" She coughed, waving the residual green smoke away as she stepped forward. "Did it work, are you okay-" Anxious, she peered around, desperately trying to find a spell to be rid of the smoke.

"If I'm dead, it's your fault, Kali," came a voice out of the smoke. Definitely a male voice; definitely Howl's. "You should have given me more warning, you know. I could have helped you with the spell." The tall wizard stepped out of the smoke, clearly having used the smoke as a chance to change outfits. He was back in jeans and a t-shirt.
"How about some icecream, huh?" Howl asked as he pulled Kali into a hug. "I've had a rough day. My treat, though. You've earned it. You saved me, Kali! That curse almost had me. Oh, and I suppose Lance can come." The last part was said rather reluctantly.
"He's earned it too. You were right, Kali. He's not really such a bad guy after all."
