Devan peered up at him and smiled, eagerly taking his first feather. He played with it a moment. Running his hands over it and tickling his face. Once he had satisfied the need to play with it he glanced up at the man. His big hazel eyes were already on the larger feathers of his wings.
His tail thumped the ground behind him. "Yes! I can do a whole minute! This is like the quiet game!"

Fifth grinned at how excited the boy seemed to be about the feather. While the other played with it, he searched out a slightly bigger one that was falling loose, hissing slightly as he plucked it from his mane and laid it down on the floor in front of the two of them. The gryphon smiled at how adamant the boy was to get on with this class. "Alright, now remember to keep yourself visible and completely still," he reminded the boy, pressing the stopwatch button. "Go!"

Donte wondered if taking out the feathers hurt the man. It seemed to. He held the feather close as he waited. When the other man said go he began to hold still again and repeat the process. He managed the first forty seconds then faded out from view then back in. This part was harder. Not sitting still but the concentrating part. He managed to keep himself visible for the most part but still, he sensed he'd messed up. He never knew when he'd gone invisible.

"Ap. Stop," Fifth stated simply as soon as Devan vanished, noting that it was around forty seconds that he started having that problem. Well, they would change the aim, then, wouldn't they? "Unfortunately, you started disappearing again, my friend. Looks like you're gon'na have to start over again. Remember what I told you: Try to find something that keeps moving to focus on, right? Alright, now, ready... go."

The boy frowned up at him and took hold of his spade. "OKay..." He responded and when he was told to go he began to focus as hard as he could. This time he was able to finish the time without disappear.

Fifth grinned as the clock neared the minute mark and the boy still hadn't disappeared, brightening even more when he reset the clock and gave a slight applause to the envy spawn.
"Stop! Good job with staying visible that time, Devan, you're really starting to get the hang of this. Here's your reward for this time around," he congratulated the boy, handing over the slightly larger feather for him to play with, setting the timer once again. He looked himself over for another, slightly larger feather, plucking it easily and setting it on the floor. "Alright, now for a minute and thirty seconds. Ready?"

Devan didn't beam at the applause like most kids would. He seemed merely content with himself. He took his new feather and lovingly stroked and coddled this one. "Imma make a necklace." He stated to himself. "I already got one from Tyiker."
This time Devan was able to stay visible. A few more rounds though and it was clear the boy was tiring. He was having more and more trouble, flickering in and out of sight. He never complained once but he was done. His eyes lids drooped and he started to nod off, tail curled protectively around all of his feathers. He went utterly invisible until he jerked having fallen half asleep.
In a loving gesture his mother came over to scoop him into her lap. "I think we should call it quits for today. Its passed his nap-time and I'm sure it isn't easy for a kid, even one of his descent to stay still like that without getting tired."

"Smart idea, kiddo," Fifth replied approvingly. His tail flicked gently behind himself as he continued with the lesson. By the end of the steadily growing little rounds, he found himself leaned back in a much more relaxed manner, wings laid out behind him. Even he was starting to lose focus by the time that Devan accidentally fell asleep, giving a wide yawn and an approving nod at the woman's suggestion.
"Probably for the best. I'm not sure how much longer I could stand doing that, either," the man replied with a soft chuckle, getting to his feet and stretching himself widely, pawing gently at an emerald green eye. He nodded once more that he agreed with her idea. "It was a pleasure teaching him today. Hope that I'll get the same privilege when he grows."

Devan curled his tail around the woman's wrist and wrapped his fingers around her shirt. His head against the woman's shoulder. He was utterly asleep.
"Yah, he'll just keep going til you tell him to stop." She said shifting him to a more comfortable position as she picked up the forgotten feathers and ducked them into her pocket with a gentle care. "Yah... I'm positive you will. Hey uh..." With the expertise of a mother she managed to juggle her kid in one arm while she fished out a piece of paper. "I wrote down our phone number." She offered it to him. "You're free to call."

Fifth chuckled softly. "Oh, don't I know it. 'Course, I have the burden of how Gabby likes to whine the entire time instead of just doing it," the man replied, glancing over to the beanbag chair pile, where the patience spawn had curled up and fallen asleep, tired out from all of his whining ( finally ). When she offered the gryphon the piece of paper, he raised his eyebrows in interest and smiled softly, taking and looking over it curious before giving her a smile and a salute. "I'll be sure to keep it in a safe place. You two be safe now, see you again."

"Ha, nothing like that from this kid." She said ruffling his hair. She gave him a smirk and let her tail brush across the man. "Oh I hope so." She responded as she walked out. She hoped he got her intention as she took her boy home.
