"Well it's good that one of us is," she laughed at him, a real laugh for one of the first times in a while. She could see why she had liked him before, even if she couldn't remember their meetings. "I don't like sweets much, but I can handle the ones that don't try to put me in a sugar coma."

She had just reached out to take his arm when he brought up another point, and her hand faltered halfway there. The pleasant mood dimmed slightly and her face hardened without much control of it on her behalf. Though she was glad to be in the negaverse now, to be helping, the matter of her arrival was still a little sore.

"Rhodizite," she said bluntly, and there was no hiding the edge of venom in her voice. Her mixed feelings were odd, but it probably had to do with what little she could remember of him before the actual night of her corruption. "I tried to stop him from killing Sailor Nemesis." Nemesis' name made her a little sad and she looked away, forgetting for a moment that there was more for her to say, to share. When she finally did remember, the glance she gave him was solemn.

"Think carefully before you bring them here if you are implying what I think." For a brief moment, that haunting, hardened look that stole her at moments was there before she hid it away behind her mask of confidence. It was clear that Alkaid was deeply troubled, but that she was also good at hiding it so as not to appear ungrateful. "They will forget you and they will forget themselves. I don't even know my own name, Zink."

She reached for his arm then and gave it a gentle squeeze with her hand before simply looping it through. She was conflicted over whether it was okay to subject others to this punishment or if she'd simply be happy to have someone else to share her woes.

That made him pause much the way she had. Not even her name...
though.. it was not as though he were so close to his 'target' that he cared if she hated him...he'd be saving a life in a way...right?

"Would you say...that it was better to be killed than to forget such a thing?" He asked quietly. His face was blank, no judgement, no implications... just a serious question.

"...I apologize if the subject upsets you... I have little qualm about killing the truely misguided, but... when they are open enough to question the morality of their actions...I am unsure if I could simply... " He sighed...

"I am overdue on that particular...project at any rate." He offered in some attempt to comfort her. That was not, however, to say that he had given up on it..

She frowned at the question, then shrugged her shoulders a little at the way he had put it. "Our life ends either way, doesn't it?" Who she was had died, they were no longer there and there was no way she could ever return to whatever life she had. As far as Alkaid was concerned she had already died once, she'd just been brought back to finish what she'd started.

As he apologized she just shook her head, holding up her other hand to stop him. "It's something I live with and something I hope, one day, I'll come to terms with." She smiled, albeit having to force it, and shrugged her shoulders again. "Moods come and go, all that really matters is that I'm here to fight for the right cause this time." After all, it was really only her cause that kept her from losing herself completely to despair. She had something to live for, to fight for, and she wasn't going to lose sight of it.

"Let's forget this," she squeezed his arm again with her hand then, "we were going for tea, right?"

The words gave him pause.. he wondered, did every senshi who was brought over feel the same way? That they had died, was it better to simply kill them even if they -saw- the light of reason?

"Yes, tea...of course." He nodded though it was clear he was processing the thoughts that were whirling around behind those pale blue eyes.
"You may have to tell me what books you prefer as well, or I will, I fear...inflict chess books on you so that I'll have another partner other than Uranophane.

She laughed softly as he spoke of books, glancing over her shoulder at the one she had abandoned. "I've probably read way more boring things than books on chess and strategy in the last few weeks. I probably wouldn't mind." She shook her head then, her smile amused and lingering. "Though I'm really just reading about.. anything I can find. History, science, cultures. It's hard to know what I could have forgotten, you know?" Well, at least there was a reason she had the driest, most boring taste in books ever conceived.

"Who knows, maybe I already know chest. I sometimes don't realize it until I start to do something." She shrugged her shoulders, still slightly confused over the fact. Which reminded her that she wanted to pick up a book about brain function and memories.

They teleported to a reasonable location, a safe if walkable distance to the tea house of his choosing, it was just another back alley in the streets of destiny city, one more spot where people might live or die to the sound wind rattling the old chain link fence, where the only witnesses were the half faded advertisements for forgotten stores and products, the only ones that remained relevant were the faded cola adds that hung over the rest like some curvy white emperor of advertising.
He offered her an arm again, polite...there was no flirtation there, no making of eyes or other wistful gazes, not that she wasn't pretty, he did study her though, as though he could read a life story in the very curves of her face, or the cut of her dress.
"They make a most excellent Chai tea here..." he offered as they moved out of the Alley, he had of course powered down into the familiar civilian clothes again, his face well schooled, his eyes less so.

"And most of the pastries aren't too sweet, I personally think they make the best scones in the area, but I'm without a car of my own so..." He shrugged slightly and then added.

"Do you mind if I ask...would you prefer this never happened to you? Would you... prefer, that you had, ceased to be rather than this?"

Alkaid had powered down once they had reappeared back in Destiny City, sporting a white winter coat, jeans and a pair of fur-lined boots. It was one of the few outfits she had been able to buy out of a little money Rhodizite had grudgingly tossed her way, but she couldn't really complain - she was rarely in her civilian form anyway.

"My name's Kaia, by the way." Or at least that was the name she'd been given as her civilian form, with all the proper documentation that she might need. She took his arm then, with an appreciative smile, and was busy studying their surroundings when Z spoke up about the tea. "That sounds delicious," it was half absent, though no one could really blame her for trying to familiarize herself with new parts of the city when she had the chance.

His next question did manage to snap her attention back completely though, and she frowned a little as she considered it. "Some days, I think so, when I'm really down about it and start thinking too much. But then someone or something reminds me that I have a cause to fight for and it's not really about me." She half-smiled then, glancing over at him. "I do what I can to help and at the end of the day I feel a little better about my place in this world."

"I guess what they say about wanting a fresh start, isn't all that it's cracked up to be." He mused and gave the hand she had rested against his arm a small cautious but comforting touch.
"Harder if nothing else... I suppose it's just as well that they don't seem to be able to redo their 'taint'...I'd hate to see you have to go through that again."

He held the door for her, brass bells clanked and chimed to alert the staff of new or departing customers, though it worked just as well to turn all eyes on them.

"I'll order for us if you like, just tell me what you would prefer." He offered with a small bob of his chin at the blackboard menus, some of them illustrated with not quite terrible cartoons, one of them being a scrawl of brown holding a tan and black...thing. Apparently it was an advertisement for a 'Wookie Kookie', catering to the 'geek' crowd to a degree, but the cookies were rather 'wookie' sized, you could have carried drinks to your table on them.

She smiled at his small joke, shaking her head a little before she gazed back out at the streets. The touch on her hand brought her attention back though and she nodded in agreement, "who knows what would even happen to me if they tried." She'd already suffered what she assumed was some trick on their part, she didn't want to have to try and reverse that.

She entered the tea shop with Z, passing a little thank you when he held the door for her. When he pointed her at the menu, she could only laugh, amused by the strange doodles over the board. Finally, with a little contented sigh, she set to looking over the scribbled menu items.

"Maybe that Chai you were telling me about earlier? It sounds lovely." She turned her attention back on the cozy sitting area then, trying to avoid the stares that her rather long blond dreads attracted. Girls with dreads were apparently pretty rare and she half wondered what had made her decide to get them in the first place. She finally saw a table isolated in one of the corners and weaved her way through the others until she could sit down.

He ordered for them, pointed at things in glass cases and then stepped politely back as the under-caffinated, or in some cases the over caffeinated behind him lined up to place their own orders, each in turn standing in line behind the diminutive young man with the solumn intense eyes. A few times he'd turn to stare at them the way they stares at everyone else, they always turned away it seemed, and he treated it like a game.

He took the tray they placed on top of one of the glass cases and carefully wove his way through the crowd, he dodged well if nothing else, dodging a few near collisions by footwork alone and setting the tray of nearly over full oversized coffee mugs with the milky-spiced tea and scones down between you without even a drop soaking into the cheep paper napkins that advertised some generic maker.

"I... picked up some of the cinnamon scones, I hope that's alright, we can visit the bookstore around the corner after if you like, Audio books might be a nice replacement to just reading if you like, it's always so quiet there after all... or music at least."

Kaia looked up to see Z winding his way towards the table she had picked and instantly wished that she hadn't chosen something so far out of the way. Those cups looked like they were dangerously full, ready to spill over at any second. She held her breath as Z made his way over, finally releasing it when the tray was safely on the table.

"I thought for sure you were going to spill these in some horrible accident on the way over here," she said, laughing softly at her own worry. She slid one of the cups over to her and took a careful sip, smiling appreciatively at the spiced tea. "And cinnamon scones are just fine." She reached out for one of them and took a nibble, testing the taste and finding that it was not too awfully sweet.

"You know, I never thought of audio books," she tilted her head a little as she thought about it, munching quietly on her scone in the process. "You're right though, some kind of something would be infinitely better than the awful silence all the time, though I probably need headphones lest I risk.. upsetting other people." She wouldn't come right out and say who she meant, but she wasn't sure she should be drawing attention to herself with everyone's tensions already being high.

"Headphones are god's gift to the musically different tasts of the world... if you believe in that sort of thing." He said with a quirk of a smile.
"And I have defiantly spilled before, this is better though than the lunch room at Hillworth -trust- me, there they try and trip you. Well, I should say they try and trip ME."
He wrapped his fingers around the mug and blew carefully over the top of it for a moment before taking a deep breath of the sweet and spicy aroma and hummed pleased before lifting it carefully to take a sip.
"We could defiantly look into music for you as well I suspect..." He added though part of his thoughts had drifted else where, Lyra had that whole place to herself...the one 'their' father bought, what would Alkaid say to that kind of 'out'... and, what would she think about being a 'day time guardian' to his cous...his little sister?
The thought was as quickly dismissed as it had come though, too dangerous all around. Alkaid might be recognized and... Beth might be caught in the cross fire. No, defiantly not a good thought...

"They're a gift at least," she agreed with a laugh, though the idea of religion was quickly dismissed. The negaverse was all the religion she needed - Beryl was the only one that would fill the position of any god in her life. There was no reason to think of anything else when she knew who controlled her life.

She munched quietly on her scone, curling her hands around the mug to warm them, though her mouth turned down in a little frown at the thought of Z being tripped purposefully. He had to be a good person if she had been willing to risk everything to help him even before her awakening into the dark kingdom - who would want to do such an awful thing? Unfortunately, with her lack of memories also went most of her knowledge about school bullies and their complexes.

"I'd really like that, actually. I don't.. know much of modern music and I don't honestly know what my tastes are." She drew the mug to her lips and sipped at the spicy tea as she considered the music idea. She had never explored that, not with her binge on knowledge. "That could be an interesting adventure."

"We will just have to visit the bookstore that has the music stations in it." He remarked over another satisfied sip of his own spiced tea.
"Then you can at least listen to a few selections of each, once we figure out the -base- of what we like we can broaden from there and fine specific bands, once we know bands...finding recommendations should be that much easier...don't you think?"
Strategy and the art of Band finding, not exactly the next catchy book title, but at least it didn't require him to be out trying to fight and punch things...that seldom went as well as he hoped it would.

"Thank you...by the way for taking the time to talk like this." He added, though is face was as blank as a sheet of paper, the reasons for his gratitude buried within whatever thoughts tangled and twisted in his head.

"They have those?" She asked with a bit of surprise, finding the combination to be odd but what did she know of such things? She was putting her faith in Zac and the knowledge he had - her only job was to follow his lead. "Whatever you think will work best," she said with a smile, shrugging her shoulders a little, "I wouldn't have the first clue where to go for this kind of stuff."

She just smiled at him over the mug she was holding in the air, her hands curled around the warm ceramic and her eyes peering through the lazy spiraling steam from its center.

"Don't thank me, you're the first person I can remember like this," she brought one hand away from the mug to wave in his general direction, trying to indicate his civilian identity, "I am selfishly using you for my own comfort." Even though her words were true, she managed to smile and play it off as a joke.
