Epra eyed the young ferret in response to his glib comment about eavesdropping. "Perhaps you should listen better," she told Bane, preparing to turn away from this rude youngster who seemed to be immune to her insults, but was stopped by his next statement.

"A deal?" The shrew listened as the ferret went on, giving Bane an odd look. "A hug? Why in the name of ladybug farts would you want a hug?" Ah, Epra. Oh so elegant and ladylike. She was certainly more tempted to thump Bane than to hug him.

Well, maybe she was bored because she was boring, that seemed the case so far. Listen more?! Was she crazy? He laughed.

"I don't actually wanna hug, but iffin' I can get one, I can trade a stone fer a warrior's feather!" He seemed excited indeed for the prospect.

"I'll owe ya a favor, 'n I never break my word!" A prideful swell of his small chest. "Plus, I reckon y'like provin' people wrong. Provin' 'em right is never fun."

Oh, so this was all for something else entirely. The shrew looked at the ferret out of the corner of her eye for a moment. He had a point, little bugger. Hmm... he'd owe her a favor, huh? Well, it certainly never hurt to have people indebted to you.

"Deal," she told Bane, putting actions to her words by giving him a hug, though quick and certainly without any feeling.

Eglantine raised an eyebrow at the goings-on with Baneberry and the shrew. "Doesn't look like he's gettin' much of a lesson t'me," she said. "Looks like he's huggin' some shrew instead. Wonder why he's doin' that." She yawned widely. Was this his plan to prove that his stone worked? A devious thought crossed her mind, playing across her lips in the form of a small smile. "Y'know, I know a lot of shrews who could use a hug from an upstanding liddle gentleman like our man Baneberry..." She let the statement hang, talking more to herself than to the other ferret. The kid was eager enough and fixated on the feathers enough. If she told him she was partially convinced, she'd bet that he'd hug a lot more grouchy shrew-ladies. Or anything else that came along. It'd do those sourpusses a world of good, gettin' a hug...

Etto raised an eyebrow.
"Y'wanna try and get him to hug a bunch of sour old shrews? It's an odd form of entertainment if I've ever heard."

Not that Etto had anything else BETTER to do. Besides maybe scuttle around on rooftops and scare a few poor unsuspecting patrons. But he'd done that YESTERDAY and it got old fast.
