She gave him a softer smile and shrugged a little. "You're my best friend. Of course I would notice that. Especially having to see you afterwards." The she-wolf poked his side playfully. "Those are some of the best Scario Car nights, though."
That Jack damned cute frown (she just had to face it...she couldn't pull off mean OR scary very well) was back as she looked between two dresses. One confused her entirely. How did one put it on?! The other...was another maybe. She at least liked the feeling of the material. And she would be able to move easily in it. That was important. LW had seen some of the skin tight dresses hanging on the racks. Yeah. No.
"Clearly," this was said with amused exasperation, "you have not gone to a werewolf dance party."
Sexy? That word was definitely not one in her main vocabulary. "Has Sir Snake strangled you for that nickname yet?" She asked and held up another dress, nose wrinkling. "And what the hell is this?" Her eyes looked to his golden ones. "Do not even try to tell me this thing is a dress. There is...nothing to it!" Holding it up just a little longer, she shoved it back with the others and sighed heavily when he walked over, dresses in hand.
A few dresses in her own hands, she eyed the pile the gryphon had. It was clear she was not looking forward to this. Good thing he'd placed a hand at her back. That meant she couldn't escape. "Fine..." Taking the ones he held she went to find an open dressing room stall, tail dragging slightly. Once in said stall, she glared at the dresses and picked through them until she found one she was willing to try first. It...looked nice...? Maybe. Ah hell, she didn't know! Grumbling at it, she stripped down to intimates and worked to get dress one on. Halfway through this process, she determined she didn't like it. Too tight. No way to move freely. She'd be stuck standing up right and stiffly. Kind of like how she envisioned her besties parents.
Discarding that one, she went for dress two. It was definitely easier to get on and she would be able to move. It was some dark color, blue or black possibly. Thin straps held it up and it fit...nicely. LW eyed it in the mirror and reluctantly admitted she kind of liked it. Until she tried to swish her tail. The dress didn't move very well with it. It would be manageable though, just not preferable.
Best to get a second opinion first, before throwing it into the discard pile. "I feel weird." She announced to Ren, walking hesitantly out so he could see the dress on her.

"Scario Kart nights are the best," Ren agreed, flashing a wide grin at his best friend. He had, to say the least, a horribly strenuous relationship with his parents, one that he did not ever wish on anyone else. However, as i the universe was attempting, in some odd way, to compensate for his terrible home life, he now had three best friends that all tried to cheer him up in some way or another. It was difficult to admit it aloud, but Ren treasured the nights he spent playing Scario Kart with LW; the werewolf would never say anything. She would come over, see the expression on his face, and simply turn on the skelevision set, handing him one of the controllers as she settled down in his pillow pile.
Then he would proceed to kick her butt at Scario Kart. Ren's gaze flickered down, catching the frown on her face. "Clearly you've never been to a gryphon dance party," he said with a laugh. "Our realities are clashing here."
"And no," Ren added airily, lifting a brow and waving a hand nonchalantly. "Sir Snake has not strangled me for that nickname yet. Considering that he calls me bird brain, I thought it only fair to give him a nickname to call his very own."
LW went to the stall, and Ren lounged on one of the sofas just outside, draping one arm lazily over the back, one leg crossed over the other. Several ghouls were casting questioning glances at him, a few of them looking vaguely confused, but he merely smiled at them, resting his head in his hand as he waited for LW to finish. She came out a few moments later, in a small, blue strappy number.
Ren blinked, momentarily distracted. "It's amazing what a simple dress can do," he murmured, mostly to himself and then said "Not quite getting that wow factor yet. Try the next?"
"You do look lovely, though," he added, smiling. "Better than going naked."

Yes. Scario Kart nights were indeed the best. She'd always had brothers around who loved to rough house and play games. And then there was her sister that was busy catching up on all the latest fashion and gossip magazines. LW had never fit into that world. She was one of the boys. Yet, at the same time, the she-wolf had never really had a real friend. Someone that she COULD go play Scario Kart with. And someone that wasn't her brothers. Or trying to pin her to the floor. Bite her ankles. Yeah. Werewolves didn't play nice all the time. Add in an unusually small werewolf...LW lost quite a bit.
Including races to Ren. Just not quite so painfully. ONE DAY THOUGH! She would kick his turkey butt one day. Hopefully...
"Eh, fair enough there." LW giggled at him. "Guess we have all given each other at least one name by now. Isn't that right, kitten?"
Alright. She felt awkward standing there as she was. In a dress. Something she had to remain conscious of at all times. Because there were some things, you just couldn't do in a dress. Especially a short dress. That was not quite working out with her tail. Said tail couldn't really wag. It had to just sit there immobile. That so was not how she was going to walk around for a whole night!
LW gave him a dirty look. "And what IS this 'wow' factor!" She huffed again and felt her tail begin to twitch before she stopped it. No. Not. Going. To happen. "I have an idea," she said teasingly, unable to hold on to the irritation at wearing a Jack damned dress, omg! "Why don't you try on the next one?" The she-wolf gave him an angelic smile that faltered and turned into a bashful expression when he added she looked lovely in this one.
"I-I disagree." She stammered before spinning and fleeing back into the dressing stall. Dress two came off and she started pawing through her choices for the next one. Two of them she discarded without a second glance because they were too bright for her tastes. She tended to like the darker colors. Her hand halted over one particular dress. It was one of the ones Ren had chosen. A very pretty shade of purple too. The material was soft and a little silky. Still shorter than what she would have liked...but she had come to realize that this was not an option to be discussed anymore.
Sighing, she slipped into dress three (though it was really more like dress six or seven) and looked in the mirror. She liked the color. It was still a dress. But her tail could move back and forth without any problems! True, the dress still moved a little with it, but not dangerously so.
Her light step was still hesitant and shy almost as she stepped back out for her best friend to scrutinize again. "Still think naked would be better." She mumbled, tail swinging from one side to the other while she watched Ren.

"I'm not so sure I like this 'kitten,' nickname," Ren said, lazily lifting an eyebrow. "It makes me sound all cute and fluffy, and gryphons by nature are not cute and fluffy, at least not according to the oh so delightful parental unites of mine."
LW's face had turned a bright red, expression a mixture of shock, embarrassment, and disbelief. "Disagree all you want, wolflove," Ren called out to her as she darted back into the dressing stall, yanking the curtain hastily shut behind her. "I only tell the absolutely truth, darling."
He paused a moment, then said "Why don't you ever believe that you're lovely? You disagreed back when we first met, too. I said you were lovely and you said that that was a word that wasn't normally associated with you. Besides, why would I say it if it wasn't true? You've managed to snag one of the best looking guys in school - besides myself, of course - " he added teasingly, not serious in the slightest " - as your boilfriend, yet you still don't think you're lovely? Why would you..."
Ren trailed off abruptly, the words dying in his throat. LW had stepped out of the dressing stall again, this time wearing a pale lavender dress. It hit a little lower than mid-thigh, making her legs appear longer than normal, and it was strapless, revealing smooth, tanned skin.
For a few moments Ren just stared - stupidly. His mouth opened and closed a few times, trying to say something, but nothing came out. He had seen LW dressed a thousand times, seen her at her worst, seen her every day, most of the time the entire day. He knew she was beautiful, had told her many times that she was pretty, but she had never accepted it. He had thought he had seen her at her best, but this...this was different.
Ren snapped his teeth shut. He stood up slowly, moving across the floor towards LW until he was standing right in front of her, hands in his pockets. A small smile crept onto his face.
"Wow," he said softly. "That's what I'm talking about."

A rude snort. "Did you just hear yourself, kitten?" LW gave him yet another dirty look. "If I go by those standards, than it is the perfect nickname because your parentals won't agree with it."
She had no doubt he did tell the truth about how she looked. It was Ren, after all. He never lied to her. But...still. A heavy and almost weary sigh escaped her as she thought on the best way to answer him. Not having to look at him for the moment helped buy some time, but she still would have to answer him soon. So how did she? It wasn't easy for her to formulate the exact reasoning on why she had a hard time believing him. And of course listening to him, she only blushed more.
How did you explain to someone that you could never easily believe the words you are lovely when all you ever heard growing up was 'you'll never be pretty, because you are too much like the boys.' And who wanted a female that wasn't very feminine? LW had believed this. STILL partially believed this. But having made friends with Ren and Alessa then somehow catching the interest of Gabrian...a small part of her was starting to think they were right. That in her own way she was lovely. But it was hard. Very hard to get around something that had been beaten (alright not quite physically...but there were a few fights) into your psyche since you were a little pup.
Now out of the dressing stall, she had to face him. And that meant try to answer him. In a dress. A very short dress. "I...I don't mean to." She said in a small voice. "It...I...it's a mental blockade I have to overcome, I guess." Man, were her cheeks still red? Oh no. And...why wasn't he saying anything? This made her shift her weight slightly from foot to foot. "Umm...t-there are...a c-couple more I can try...i-if this one doesn't work..." LW felt very self conscious right now. Her bestie had still not said anything. Was that a bad thing? Did...should she try another dress on? Why wasn't he talking?!
For the barest moment, she saw...something in his eyes. She didn't know what, but it made her heart skip a beat. WAS THIS GOOD OR BAD? She was ready to bolt back into that stall and put her normal clothes back on. Then he slowly began to stand and the she-wolf froze. Her gaze followed his movements until he was right in front of her. Only when he smiled was she able to move again, although it was only her tail, flicking from side to side from her unease.
"T-t...this one works then?" Her voice was barely above a whisper. His reaction had thrown her out of step. Ren's reaction was good, right? It seemed that it was. But LW could count on one hand the times she had ever warn a dress and there would be plenty of digits left over. In fact, now that she thought about it, the last time she had tried didn't go well. She'd felt like an idiot and her sister had agreed that she looked like one. "I-I like it. Maybe." She worked to make her words come out without a stammer to them. "Allows me to...dance."
At that point, she just decided to stop talking. Before she hit squeak levels. Or turned any redder.

Having grown up in a very elitist family, Ren had long since grown used to dressing up and putting on a show. His lovely parents had arranged dates for him at all of these gatherings, and he had had ghouls clinging to his arm each night. Blond, brunette, redheaded, witches, ghosts, monsters (anything but demons; his parents were disgusted by what they called the "pathetic race"), he had seen every variance of ghoul that was possible. All of them tall, all of them leggy, all of them beautiful.
Or at least, he had thought they were. Until now. Now it just seemed like he had wasted his time with them. He had not ever seen LW looking quite so...different. It was throwing him off his groove a bit.
Man, he thought, rubbing the back of his neck absently. I'm new to this...got a beautiful ghoulfriend who easily surpasses all of those ghouls I was forced into "dating" before, and now my best friend is looking...different.
He didn't realize that LW had spoken until after the fact, and then he blinked, startled back into reality, smiling down at the werewolf. Reaching out, his fingers lightly touched the she-wolf's chin, tilting her face up so that he could look her straight in the eye.
"It works," he said softly. "Perfectly. You're one sexy werewolf; Gabe's jaw will drop."
Ducking his head, he pressed a kiss to her forehead then wrapped her in his arms, hugging her tightly, swaying playfully from side to side. "You're so prettyyyyy~!" he crooned teasingly, and squeezed her before stepping back. "Look at you, baby girl, you look amazing. Now we just have to have Alessa do your hair and makeup, and poor Sir Snake won't even know what hit him. Now," he added, giving her a gentle push back into the stall. "Go get dressed and then we'll go eat."
Ren stepped away, leaving LW to change, and made his way towards the counter to (secretly) pay for her dress, snagging the same one from a rack to get the price.
"Will that be all?" asked the ghoul at the counter.
"Ye - " Ren started to answer, but something to the right caught his eye. Ren's gaze flickered towards a small jewelry stand on the edge of the cashier's table. Hanging from one of the metal prongs was a brooch; a crescent moon shaped brooch. It was simple, yet something about it was...intriguing.
"And this," Ren said, slipping the brooch off and sliding it towards the cashier. "I'll take this too."

The longer the silence continued, the more she started to have an internal panic attack. And she was so very aware of every inch of this damn sheath she had to wear! How the slightest movement made the soft fabric slide along her skin. How the hem of the dress brushed against her leg with a baby soft touch. And the burning in her cheeks. OH GOD WHY?! Why hadn't he said anything? LW decided then that she did not like dress shopping. It made her feel awkward and weird and made her best friend act funny.
"Ren...?" It was all but squeaked out of her. Uncomfortable silence mixed with very self conscious she-wolf? He was lucky she was still standing there. Of course, LW was still all be frozen to the spot. There were other ghouls looking her way too. She couldn't read their expressions, but she wasn't exactly getting a bad vibe from them.
Her brothers were lucky they were male. Being a female was frightening and had too many extra rules for playing the part right.
His fingers touched her chin lightly, tilting her face up to meet his gaze. The contact made her start slightly. Those golden hues of his, she trusted those. Most of the time. When there was a devilish hint to them...not so much. But right now? She...wanted the dress off.
Blush- Activated. Actually, more like flaming. "S-sexy?" Now that was a word she definitely never heard unless it was in teasing. Not...not like how Ren meant it. "I...hope he likes it." She mumbled before receiving a kiss to the forehead and what she was calling a bear hug. And that dress...it was short, damnit! "Ren!" LW squeaked, clutching at him while they swayed from side to side. Alright, so her cheeks had been flaming before. Now they were scarlet listening to him. Violet eyes got bigger when there was mention of doing hair and makeup. There was more to this than just wearing the Jack damned dress?!
LW didn't have to be told twice to go strip out of the dress she wore. She all but ran back into the stall and then just stood there, leaning against the side of the wall. Ren said I look sexy. And pretty. Hell, there were a few things he'd called her that she was not used to hearing at all. Was this something else she would have to get used to? Could it be...possible that her sister (and sadly, her mother as well on occasion) were wrong? Just who in her family actually did call her cute or pretty?
The she-wolf stepped slowly out of the dress while she pondered that question. Nightstalker. He did. But...not in quite the same way. And her father. HE would kick the a** of anyone who tried to tell him his two ghouls weren't adorable. Yet it STILL wasn't the same.
Groaning, LW placed the dress back on its hanger and slid into her own clothes. Muscles and fried nerves relaxed infinitely as she was back in her comfort zone. Mostly back. Her gaze stared at the dress and she debated on just leaving it and running out of the shop. But this was what she had come here to accomplish. Do it for Ren. He came out here to help, after all. Sighing, she grabbed up the dress and walked out to find her best friend. He wasn't right outside or sitting back in the chair. Frowning, she moved away from the dressing rooms and towards the front of the store. She found him up there.
"Ren! Y-you..." he had, hadn't he? He'd paid for the dress. The sneaky little gryphon. "I could have gotten it, kitten." She tried to give him another dirty look, but that failed amazingly. "I'll get you back." LW promised, though she would probably fail at that too. Sighing again, she turned warm violet eyes up at him. "Thank you. You're the best bestie there is!"

Ren lifted a brow, slipping the brooch into his pocket before she could see it. "I know not what you speak of, little wolflove," he said airily, handing her the bag. "Consider this a gift from an anonymous source; one who is going to make sure you look fantastic on your special night~"
He smiled down at LW. For a few moments he debated on giving her the brooch, but then changed his mind. That would be for later. There was something about those eyes that made it hard to deny her anything, and with an elaborate flourish, he held out his arm to her.
"Now," Ren said grandly as they walked to the store exit. "Didn't you say something about buying me lunch?"
