Normally, Xavier might have been a little shy of such a obvious display of affection in public, but at the moment he didn't give a damn. The painkillers probably helped.
Not that he needed to be high on painkillers to practically attempt to fuse himself permanently against his girlfriend, though he was also doing a rather valliant effort of being as quiet and small as possible in the faint hope that Angus might overlook him in the process. Probably a lost cause.

Whatever Xavier was trying to do, it didn't seem to get past Angus. "Alright, you four, the jig's up," he sighed. "But you all get points for keeping me in the dark as long as you did." The big man didn't look angry, though. Just tired. Maybe a little sad.
"The nurse says you're all stable and good to go home, I can drive you," he said, and then added, awkwardly, "Well, not Xavier. They'd like you to stay a day or two. But I can give you two rides? Bell? Jaimie?"
Tallulah glanced at Bell, noticed that the girl looked furious, and felt terrible. We'll talk later, she mouthed to her.
"I don't know your parents," he said to Bell, "And I don't know yours, Jaimie, but we... I'll just tell Damian there was a bus crash. I'm not interested in blowing up anyone's spot."
Tallulah cringed. "Dad, what does that even mean?" she asked.
Angus shrugged at her, "Being a tattle-tale, doesn't it?" he asked. Tallulah looked blankly at him. "See?" he asked the others. "I don't know the first thing about what you kids are up to these days."
