Jewel opened his toolbox and carefully took the face off of the collection of light switches. He knew that it was still live but working in the dark would be a lot harder then just being careful so he decided that he would just no be stupid about this procedure. He needed to replace the fixers and rewire each switch. The eerie flickering of the lights made him feel a bit on edge but as he worked he became less aware of his surroundings. He was half way though with his work when... "BOO!"

"HOLYSHIT!"

The kid spun around and slammed his back against the wall his hands going up to shield his face from the expected on coming attack. His heart lept into his throat and he nearly fainted. It wasn't until he saw that it was just one of the Fay that he was able to take a breath and shoot her a glare. She had that faint sparkle on her that told of a glamor he was never going to see and the kid sighed.

"Can I help you mam... and um. You don't have to do that. It doesn't work on me...?"

The boy gestured to his own face. He was talking about her skin tone glam. Jewel bit his lower lip and averted his eyes she might take it as in insult... As if he was saying that she wasn't powerful enough to affect him when in fact it was more like he was blind to it. Nothing special.

Nixie was quite surprised at how the human reacted to that simple word. She didn't even say it that loud. He sure was jumpy, wasn't he? Though, she had to admit, he could move pretty fast. Before she knew it, his had turned around and his back was against the wall. The fairy did find it odd that he felt the need to shield his face. It's not like she was going to hurt him or anything.

No, she was just having a bit of fun. Nixie raised an eyebrow at the glare he was sending her. Eh, whatever. She wasn't going to get upset over that. After all, she did spook him. "You don't have to call me Ma'am. My name's Nixie." She explained with a smile. "And you're going to have to get used to being shocked like that if you're going to hang out around here. We're a mischievous bunch." She stated, referring to the fey in the productions.

Do what? That confused her a bit, and she was certain it showed on her face. Could he possibly be referring to her Glamour? It was quite possible. It did seem like something Quin would do, hire a human gifted with sight. Just to test, she dropped her glamour, and it didn't seem to bother him that she should have just went invisible. Hmm. "You know, your kind doesn't always fair well when gifted with the sight..." She noted audibly.

Jewel raised an eyebrow. He had heard her name mentioned before in passing, Nixie... She was cute for a fey, her eyes were bright and her blue skin tone looked soft and nice without the annoying shimmer that was glamor to him. When she said that he had better just get use to being scared he rolled his eyes and pushed his glasses up his nose a bit with his pointer finger.

"Uh, Nixie... I just don't like being startled is all. Okay? And I can keep myself well just fine. There are plenty of my kind who have sight and live normal nice lifes."

Not that he had ever met one or heard of one. You only ever hear of humans with sight going crazy or getting themselves killed or imprisoned or worse. He felt okay here though. The theater was a safe place to be himself. No one here should care if he was gifted or not, he was just the tech boy. The handy man.

"So, Is there anything you need then Nixie, or did you just come out here to scare the crap out of me?"

He gave a little smirk to the shorter blue woman and crossed his arms over his maroon sweatered chest. He was dressed smart casual, a nice sweater, Black V-neck T, dark jeans and leather lace up casual shoes. His hair was tussled like normal and he showed no signs of homelessness or mental instability.

Nixie watched as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. Didn't like to be startled, eh? Bad thing to admit around a bunch of fey. Faeries weren't all sweet like fairy tales made them out to be. No, they were downright pranksters sometimes. Now, he just gave her a bit of knowledge she could use against him.

Oh, really? Were there 'plenty' of his kind that could see fey that lived normal lives? Nixie doubted it. "Really, name one other than yourself...Because in all my years, I have yet to find one that hasn't been deemed mentally ill or taken away by one of my kind." She stated simply. If he could name one, she'd drop the issue and let him think he won. However, she was pretty certain he couldn't do so.

"Eh, no, I don't need anything. I just grew rather tired of the bickering. So, I came out here and decided to spook you..." She stated with a smirk on her face. Faeries couldn't lie, after all. However, they could leave out pieces of the truth. Which she would be. Oh, yes, she was bound to come up and spook him whenever the opportunity presented itself now. It was the combination of his reaction when she startled him and his admittance of his dislike that made up her mind in that matter.

Jewel thought for more then a moment... and he really did think... But nothing came to him, no one. He would have to make up a name, say that he knew the guy personally. That would work, He was a librarian. and old. Good.

"Ever heard of Scott Williams? He's got the sight and is perfectly fine."

The kid looked down at the floor at his tool box and smiled. So she admitted to just coming out here to mess with him. Not very nice... She would pay. Oh... she would pay. You see, Jewel had a slight problem with revenge. He didn't like being picked on or bothered for no reason... He took it hard and always remembered. Some day soon Nixie would need his assistance and he would intentionally fail her.

"That's mighty nice of you. But I'm trying to do my job and you're makeing it hard."

After looking back up at her... Straight into her eyes he shrugged. If she wanted to mess with him he would mess right back. She'd get a nice iron oxide dusting the next time she walked into the dressing room or maybe a St.John's wart branch in her wardrobe. Oh Jewel knew how to fight back, he knew the Fey's faults, their problem areas. He'd watched them his whole life it's not like this was anything new.

"Unless you want to be a dear and help me with my work I say, you run along and find someplace else to spread your mischief."

The spectacled kid chuckled and turned back to the open switch cavity. He took his pliers up in his right hand and continued his rewiring, ignoring the blue woman. He tried to focus on his work but knowing she was right there made him nervous.

Nixie raised an eyebrow at his response. It took him way to long to come up with the answer. That's how she could tell it was a lie. Seriously, if he had known someone, he would have been thinking about them when he first brought up humans living with the sight that were just fine. He practically told on himself, which brought another smirk to the fey's lips. "I don't believe you..."

"Sorry, I didn't come out here planning to spook you...I just saw you and had to take the opportunity...You shouldn't make yourself so easy to pick on...." She noted the last bit idly. It was true, though. He just seemed like an easy target at that particular moment.

Ooh, helping with his work was an interesting prospect. She looked at the various tools, not sure if any of them were iron or not. She'd rather not touch them to find out. However, it would be neat to watch. "I'd love to help if I could...but water doesn't mix well with electricty, right?" Electricity was a newer thing that Humans had harnessed for their use. First gas, then this. It was quite interesting to watch how they progressed.

Of course she brought up the matter of water because she was a water nymph. She didn't quite like the prospect of being shocked. Since he had turned to continue his work, she came up behind him and rested her chin on his shoulder, examining his work. No, most fey she knew didn't pay attention to personal space.

"I don't want to talk about it and it's not likely that you'll get shocked if you just pay attention and use common sense."

Jewel spoke without turning to look at the fairy. He was watching his fingers and making sure not to cross any wires that would get him stuck electrocuted in the dark. He was doing really well until... She was right behind him, right behind him, and her neck was on him and her chin on his shoulder and her body close to his... The kid froze and in a matter of moments realized that his pants were too tight for this kind of contact. He blushed and tried to continue his work but was unable to focus.

Nixie was so close... and she was a water nymph... Nymph... Nympho... the boy tried to push the thought from his mind but couldn't. what use to be filled with electrical circuit theories and wire dependency designs was now full of... 'Her boobs are touching my back... I can feel her breath, If I just turn around and lean down a tad we'd be embracing each other... ' The kid blushed deeper and closed his eyes bringing his hands in to avoid being shocked.

"Umm. Nix? You're making it hard to work. I can't focus on wiring with you... So close to me."

There we go. That was the right way to explain that she was just to near. Hopefully she would understand and take a step back... Or leave that would be nice too. Getting involved with one of the fey would be the worst possible mistake he could ever make and he knew it... But he didn't like regular people... it was a curse.

Jewel put his tools down, dropping them into the open tool box and he slowly and carefully turned around. He couldn't step back any more due to the open electrical hazard he was working on being behind him and the little blue woman was very very close to him.

"Look... I'm here because I got a job and part of that job is keeping this place in working order so you being all sexy and up on me isn't working well of either of us."

Nixie raised an eyebrow. He didn't want to talk about it. Well, fine then. Moody human. However, she did giggle a tiny bit when he froze. It wasn't like she was trying to bite his head off or anything. She was merely trying to get a good look at the work he was doing. However, there was heat radiating from his cheeks. Odd. Why would that be happening?

She watched idly as he was trying to resume his work, but he seemed to be hesitant at what he was doing. Either that, or he was supposed to move that slow. At his words, she understood why he was moving so slowly. She was distracting him. Oops! Nixie hadn't meant to do that. So she straightened up and removed her chin from his shoulder.

Her eyebrow shot up again as he dropped his tools into the tool box. He wasn't done yet, was he? It didn't look like it. Wires were still exposed. Hmm. It was then that he decided to turn to face her. Her expression was certainly one of curiosity.

"Wait, what? Being sexy up on you? What are you talking about?" His most recent words had the water nymph confused. All she had done was look over his shoulder. How was that 'being sexy'?

"You know. You're all... Blue and little and... soft and stuff. So Naturally you're a distraction for a guy like me when you just smush yourself against my back like that..."

Jewel's cheeks were bright pink and he looked down at the floor nervous and embarrassed. He reached up to rub the back of his neck. Oh if they knew how he really was they never would have hired him in the first place. You see now... Some men like blonds, others brunettes, some like just men, some like just Asian men... Jewel? Jewel liked Fey. He liked little Fey and big fey, manly fey and ultra femmy fey... Blue green, yellow white. He liked them all. He'd liked Fey ever since he was a fourteen year old art freak and still did even after he knew that it would send him straight to a mental institution.

"I'm trying to work and you are a distraction. I was told that I wouldn't have to worry about the actors here bothering me to much, but you seem to be proving Quin wrong."

Oh Quin... the man was so rugged and tall and hot. It was no coincidence that Jewel liked spending time with the owner. He was a very handsome man. The kid had never been one to judge a guy on his looks, okay maybe a couple times at band camp but other then that...

"Got it?"

Nixie looked at him incredulously. What did her being short and blue have anything to do with it? "Excuse me, I did not 'smoosh' myself against your back. I just rested my chin on your shoulder. Sorry I was so 'distracting'." She stated with a roll of her eyes. Temperamental, aren't we?

Though, he seemed to be a bit embarrassed at his words. Ah, the oddity of humans. That was, after all, one of the reasons why she had ventured to the city. She wanted to observe the humans a bit, and him being at the theatre was a perfect opportunity.

"Well, I wasn't trying to distract you...Not my fault you can't concentrate..." She stated with a small frown. If he hadn't been gifted with the sight, she could have just gone all invisible on him and he wouldn't have been distracted. But, no, he had to have the sight. He was stuck with them whether he wanted to be or not. He might as well suck it up.

"Got it, but I'm not leaving just yet...." Nixie informed him. No, she wanted to watch him work. The bickering actors didn't hold her attention at the moment, he did. "Oh, and you haven't told me what your name is..."

"The name's Jewel. and it kind of is. You don't need anything out here. Why don't you just go back into the house and do your acting thing. I promise I'll be here for some time. Besides, you never know when I might accidentally swing my iron wrench around... That could end badly."

The boy picked up a wrench and twisted his wrist back and forth a couple of times. He was showing the blue girl just how dangerous it was to be to close to him. He picked his pliers back up and turned to the wires. This would be done in five minutes tops... He focused and worked carefully reattaching each tib aaaand... Done." The boy tested each switch then picked up the face to screw back over the bare switches. It never took much work to fix lights... Heating though, that was hard.

"Okay. Done. Now What do you need?"

The boy shook his head and looked to Nixie confused and a bit alarmed. He clutched the wrench in his left hand and leaned back against the wall behind him.

"Assistance with something? did something else break? have they chosen their skit yet?"

If the play was chosen he would have to go back into the house and meet with Quin about the set requirements.

Ophelia was neither deaf nor blind; she was well aware of the little drama unfolding behind her as one of her so-called kin, Nixie, set about trying to spook the little mechanic.

Mechanics.

Oh, how she hated such modern things! Whatever happened to the subtle beauty of nighttime, when the light of the moon bathed everything in its radiance, without the use of artificial light to deter that transcendental beauty? But Ophelia was careful not to get lost in her reverie. Things like that oftn got her in trouble, ofr whenever she let her guard down, she seemed to be overrun by the spies that he surrogate mother liked to send on occasion...

The Snow Girl crouched behind the door frame, wishing she had the courage to go out and sit in the audience, in a spot other than her usual corner in the shadows. She had initially planned on a breakthrough today... perhaps, when everyone was gone, she could force herself to wander upon the stage and act out her own little story with the random props that were strewn across the stage. She could be the star to an audience of the invisible, the diva of the night placed upon the dramatic pedestal of the arts, and perhaps she could muster up the courage to play a few notes on her flute...

But no. All it seemed to be was a useless dream, one of many that the Snow Queen shattered on a daily basis. Why her father had chosen to send her to this woman was a mystery, to her and her horrid son, whom she just knew she would one day be forced to wed... but that was in a different world. She was a new person here, another reason why she felt she could do what she aimed to do since the morning of that day. The only problem was... that man... oh, how she wished she could remember his name? It began with a peculiar sound. Quin... Quentin?... Quin...

... for in their docility, they demand a price.

After a bit more encouragement, Quin was able to coax the troupe into a night of improv. Clearly the decision of what play to work on next was not going to happen anytime soon, and rather than clean up the chaos of forcing a group of faeries into making a concrete decision, he was content to leave them to their devices while he poked around the auditorium in ponder mode.
His steps took him up and down the isles, around the back rows, and deep into the dark corners of the theater. This was perfectly normal. Quin wasn't a pacer of minute proportion, he needed a large space, preferably with many obstacles to mirror the way his mind worked when thinking about a particular problem. One hand tucked itself deep within his jacket pocket, gripping a heavy, card sized bit of paper. His fingers worked at the corners, curling the edges over and over again. His other hand swung loosely at his side, fingertips fussing with a thread on his shirt sleeve. The "invitation" in his pocket felt chilly to the touch, even though he had been worrying at it for hours now. Quin frowned, his eyebrows drawing together over his dark eyes.

No good will come of this...he thought, she probably wants something.

But what exactly.... ?

Quin paused in his furious marathon pacing as he noticed that now a consistent source of light peeked through the curtains, rather than the annoying flickering that had been occurring for weeks now. He smiled, thinking a moment on the young man he had hired. He's a good kid, smart too, Quin thought. This strange little rag tag group was probably the safest bunch for him to be around with his particular....talents.

Dria Hollowcourt had slept in very late. She couldn't help it, she had been watching the most amazing mortal dream...it clung to her senses as she opened and closed her eyes to the little lights that decorated the ceiling in her small bedroom.
She rolled out of bed, carefully extracting herself from the nest of sheets and blankets and slipped her dainty hooves into a pair of satiny slippers. They were completely unnecessary for someone of her particular pedial nature, but they made her feel pretty. She dressed and brushed her long hair, little bits of leaves catching in the wide toothed comb as she tried to make some semblance of order in the lengthy tresses. She could hear the other actors already up and about, stomping across the stage like a herd of elephants. She giggled, picturing each one of her fellow troupe members with long trunk noses and itty, bitty tails.
She made her way up from below the stage out into the auditorium, nodding a quick greeting to Quin as he made his rounds.

He must have something on his mind...she though. Quin often paced, but he looked really serious about something. She thought about asking him, but then something pale caught her eye.

She crept around the corner of the door frame, clutching her bracelets so that they would not make any sound. She swore she could see a small shape crouched deep within the shadows, the only giveaway being a bit of fair hair caught by one of the reflecting lights from within the lobby.

She watched the pale shape with interest, wondering what it would do, and why it was hiding?

Nixie noted his name. Jewel. Hmm, she could see that it fit. Yes, she didn't find it odd at all. After all, most of the fey had odder names. So, she shrugged. However, he had no right to boss her around, or threaten her. She'd been alive ages before he was, and he was foolish to think that he scared her. No, she'd encountered worse.

So, she sighed and made her way over to an old feinting couch that lined the wall of the lobby. She'd just watch him from a distance. Yes, that was best. She laid down on the couch, resting her head on her hands, watching him work. After a few moments, she yawned.

It wasn't long until the water nymph had fallen asleep watching Jewel at work. It wasn't because it was boring, per se, more like the couch was so comfortable. Yes, that was the reason. Though, it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. Oh well...
