Megg noticed the look on Kai's face and scratched the back of her head, unsure of how to explain the situation with Nigel. He was much older than he looked, and she knew that, but it wasn't like anyone else knew that. Maybe Kai wouldn't ask if she acted like it was completely normal though.
Yeah, like that would work.
"Alright." The brunette managed to give him a smile before she went over to pick Shade up off of Chief's back, scratching the dog behind one of his ears as thanks as she did. The toddler giggled and snuggled up into her arms, waving down at the dogs as he peeked down at them.
"Fuzzy doggies!"
"Yes, and it's time for the fuzzy doggies AND their owner to go home." Megg shot Nigel a look as the redheaded mage stepped around them and headed into the kitchen. She sighed in irritation and gave Kai another apologetic look before gesturing for him to follow her.
"Sorry about all of this. Are you gonna head back to your place...?" she asked as she stepped out the door, adjusting Shade in her arms. "There's a bus stop not too far from here, but I'm not sure if they'd let you get on with the dogs." Clearly, she was still worried about Kai hurting himself again.

"They won't. Patch made sure of that after i got special permissions as a dog walker." Not that he walked a lot of dogs; just his own. At least, not any more, now that the city didn't give a damn if he was a dog walker of not - they just didn't want Patch, the demon pup, on their busses without a container. And, as Kai did not own a container that he could not escape from, he could not bring the dogs on the bus.
"I'll make it. Wouldn't be the first time Chief's dragged me home." He shrugged a bit, and smiled at her. "Thanks..." While he didn't LIKE her help, he did appreciate it. Sort of. And she deserved thanks for putting up with his bitchy a**.
"Maybe next time I see you, I won't be injured." He joked, then grinned down at Shade. "He seems to like the dogs. Maybe he could come over and play with them. You know. If you ever need a babysitter. I'm sure Mistress wouldn't mind a small addition to her pack." He joked. He wouldn't actually leave all of the babysitting to the dogs.
...Although, it would be efficient.

Megg wasn't sure if she WANTED to know what it was that Patch had done to ban Kai and the dogs from the bus. The puppy seemed like a little terror from what little she'd seen of him, though the rest of the dogs seemed to be rather well-behaved.
"Alright, just be careful." She gave Kai a smile, and then got a thought; the young woman carefully shifted Shade in her arms and dug out a pen and a scrap of paper. Somehow, she managed to scrawl a number on the paper without putting the little boy down.
"If you ever need anything, or just...y'know...wanna hang out, you can give me a call." Wow, could she SOUND anymore awkward saying that? The brunette tried not to dwell on it as she gave Kai the number. It was to her cellphone, of course - no way in hell was she giving him the house number. She didn't need Nigel or Zak answering the phone...
"I think he'd like that." Megg chuckled before looking down at Shade. "Whaddya think, Shay? Would you want to play with the puppies again?"
"Doggies! Sha' p'ay wif doggies!" The little boy giggled, apparently thrilled by the idea. His mother grinned before looking back to Kai.
"That's a yes." As if it weren't clear enough. It was settled then - and Megg was certainly looking forward to seeing Kai again.
Hopefully, not injured.
