Well, yaoi is actually created for females. Most males scoff at the romanticized relationships that abound in yaoi. Most yaoi is created for and by females. The yaoi fanbase is made up of probably 97% women (straight, bi, and lesbian). Maybe even more than that. ALmost all yaoi manga/doujinshi are shoujo and are produced for women. This isn't to say that guys can't get into yaoi... After all, it's completely natural for a gay/bi man to want to read material about his lifestyle (it's not like there are a lot of mainstream gay romantic novels out there...). But, at the same time, gay men might be turned off, because yaoi isn't exactly realistic. These are women writing for women. Seriously, look at all the popular yaoi titles. Every one was created by a woman.

i think the reason more girls like yaoi than guys is because they are the ones who created it. You almost never see a male author write yaoi.

Thats very true...and most of the guys I know that have heard about yaoi(sometimes, even gay ones) say that they dont like it...its strange! confused

ah,yaoi...ye healing of the soal.....n e way i think that boys like yaoi more than girls...why?i dont know,but i have a feeling ...cuz,i only know 2 other girls that like yaoi in my school.

my guy friends all hated yaoi and then one asked to read Only the Ring Finger Knows the novel cause he wanted to know what all the fuss was about yaoi and he liked it i think that most guys won't give it a chance...... that and you have to give them some toned down yaoi

hmm.... idk..... i no that many people from both sexes like yaoi... but every time i try askin a guy or a girl if they like yaoi they say somthing like "ew! hell no!" my best friend insists that she dispises yaoi but i showed her an episode of papa to kiss in the dark and i asked her if she wanted to see the next episode and she was like "YEA! it's awesome!" but even after that she insists that yaoi is so gross rolleyes she also sits with me when i look at yaoi pictures... so i think a lot of people just don't admit that they like yaoi so it's really hard to tell
...

eyelinerman that girls like yaoi more than guys? not that I don't like yaoi(why the hell would I be here if I didn't?) but I have noticed that most people I know that know what the word yaoi means are female. share your thoughts yes, I have noticed this. Too many guys out there just aren't into the whole yaoi thing. (Sighs) Go figure crying

Well there are more girls in the world than boys, so I'm sure that may have a bit of an effect.
Plus girls are can be more open about it without having to worry, guys are usually end up being flamed for liking it (both online and offline).

Some of my guys friends like yaoi but to fit in or not be called gay they act like they dont know waht yaoi is. i think yaoi is for both sexes eventhough it was made by women. those who made it made it look like a "girl thing" because they probably knew that a lot of the girl population would watch and the guys would get interested too if they gave it a chance.idk ive been wondering the same thing. 3nodding

I think it has something to do with how society veiw homosexuality+ yaoi... Its generaly easier for lesbians or bi girls to come out, maybe that is why you all know of more girls who like it? Anyway Iam a gay guy who loooves Yaoi and slash!! heart heart 3nodding

I think I agree with the idea of yaoi more being created for woman than any other audience. Like its been said. Its not too realistic on the homosexual lifestyle most of the time, so homosexuals may not enjoy it. And obviously, the view of homosexuals to most narrow minded people out there means a lot wont give it a chance. But I do know of a few yaoi loving boys, so not all turn it down 3nodding
