Nate looked at her, sighing. He shook his head, soggy but glad that the rain was letting up. He ran his hand through his hair, loosening some of the water that was collecting in his frosted tips of hair. He'd just shake his head like a dog most days, but he was almost being polite.

That, or he didn't want to lose his cigarette.

"Lucky, right," Nate laughed, though he didn't press the subject. He shook his head. He was lucky for a place to live without rent, able to slack off and take advantage of the whole situation. Lucky to have a parent who actually cared about him, and wanted to keep him safe and well taken care for? He didn't see it that way. Tony was annoying, at best.

"You think knowing both growing up is worse than not knowing one? I mean, the one I did know when I was a kid wasn't that great, anyway. So you think knowing both might have been worse, or do you just mean your parents, specifically?"

"Well..."she paused, trying to word it right "It depends on how your parents react to eachother. If they were nice to eachother, then maybe it would have been better to know both of them. But if they don't get along, it might have been best to grow up with only one." She nodded to herself, thinking that it sounded alright.

A change seemed to happen while she talked to Nate. He seemed to be toning down the smart a** responses. He was almost being....nice. Maybe parents was a touchy subject. It was on occasion for Castille as well. She decided that, even though her curiosity was up, she would drop the subject and pick something else to talk about.

Her thumb unconsciously went to her mouth as she bit at the fingernail. A habit she picked up from her mother, Castille hated doing it, and tried many times to quit.

"So where are we going?" She said brightly, her finger leaving her mouth as quickly as it got there. "You got any plans today?"

Nate shrugged his shoulders indifferently. He wasn't sure he cared to think how his father and mother might have gotten along if they had been together, in a legitimate sense. It was kind of worrisome in a way, as he wasn't sure what kind of a life he missed out on. Would it have been better or worse? Did it really matter?

No. Not at all. Thinking about what might have been was stupid, because it didn't happen so what was the point?

He didn't care. Seriously.

He noticed her biting at her nail and wrinkled his nose. He didn't particularly mind the bad habit, as there were much worse. Like smoking, which he participated in, for one. Still, he could give her a hard time about it since she was making him think too much about his parents, and he hated to do that.

"Uh. No, I was just walking. I dunno. I didn't think we were going anywhere, beyond walking in the same direction." He grinned at her.

"Well, I figured you had some kinda plans, besides wandering aimlessly." She said with a small laugh "I don't have anything to do until volleyball practice in " She paused, pulling out her phone and glancing at the clock on the home screen "Two hours." she finished, putting the phone back into her jacket pocket.

"So if you nothing to do, you can hang out with me if you want to! I think I'm going to go get a coffee or somethin."

In truth, Castille hadn't been sleeping well. For a week or so now, sleep was hard to come by at night, and it left her exhausted during the day. Her volleyball playing had taken a recent turn downward because she just couldn't get her forty winks. But she didn't seem to be the only one. As they rounded another corner, the coffee shop was busy with students and adults alike, most looking bleary eyed and run down.

Castille took her place at the back of the line, switching her backpack from her right shoulder to her left.

"Two hours?"

Nate wasn't sure he wanted to walk around that long with her, and he frowned distastefully at the idea, like at a bad smell. He generally wasn't known for being subtle. He shook his head, waving his hand in no direction in particular, for no real reason.

"I don't drink coffee," which was mostly true, "not... casually, anyway. I guess recently I've been wanting to pick it up, though." He grunted at that thought, shaking his head. He was just being grumpy, as per usual.

He stared at the line, frowning.

"I could go harvest beans and squeeze the coffee out of them before we get to the counter," he said, shaking his head. He wasn't ready to make that kind of commitment. Also, he didn't quite know how coffee was made, apparently, "I'm probably going to split, you know?"

Castille smiled and laughed a little at his remark. "Yeah, I guess everyone isn't sleeping very well are they? Why else would all these people want coffee?"

Castille actually did not care much for coffee, but the lack of sleep was wearing on her and coupled with the rough day at school, she was in need of a pick me up.

She continued "Two hours is a long time to wait." she said, watching two people walk by holding steaming to-go cups. "I personally don't know why they don't just make it right after school. Then I could just go straight from last class to the gym." She sighed and shrugged "Ah well, it's not my choice. And as long as I get to play, it's OK with me!"

"Well if ya wanna split I understand. Standing with an almost stranger in a long line when your not even going to get anything seems kinda silly anyway." She looked back and since he was so much taller than her, up at him. The fact that he stuck around long enough was indeed, surprising. She paused and looked forward, focusing on some random person gazing at some travel mugs on a shelf on the far side of the coffee shop. Her voice was considerably softer when she spoke again.

"If your bored in a couple hours, you could always come watch the game." she said, index finger going up to her mouth as she bit down on the edge of the nail, and her words got faster. "I know it probably sounds lame to you, but the games are actually pretty exciting. The crowd gets going and everyone is so loud. The teams really put their hearts into it, and the fast paced-ness of it is almost...intoxicating. Your heart beats with every serve and there's those moments where your sure the ball is going down." she paused, looking back up to Nate with her dark blue eyes lit with excitement "..until someone slides across the floor to catch it. And they seems to catch your breath with the ball." her voice trailed off wistfully.

Her body shuddered slightly, and she suddenly when very quiet, embarrassment creeping across her face while she was looking down at the ground and taking a couple steps as the line moved foreword.

Nate was very familiar with long nights, considering his status as a senshi and his chosen hours of patrol. He was busy doing nothing at home, mostly staying away from it, during the day. So he worked, or rather went on patrol, when it was night. Anyway, the cover of night allowed him to use his skills for his own benefit, when he wasn't saving lives or fighting for the hell of it.

They were already called terrorists, anyway. So who cared?

Nate looked down at her, eyebrow slightly arched. She hit it on the head, really. He didn't want to stand in line, didn't want to get coffee, and didn't really know her well enough to justify sticking around until she had hers. And anyway, he hated being bored. Standing in line would definitely be a snore.

Which, actually, would probably do him some good, but he wouldn't be able to take a standing nap.

"The game?" he echoed. Oh right, she had mentioned that before. Why she was waiting around in the first place. He shrugged his shoulders. He didn't have anything better to do, though he wasn't exactly interested in sports. At all. But there were other things he was interested in, and that was reason enough to check things out. He grinned at her comments about balls dropping and people sliding on floors, but he didn't make the joke brewing in his head. He just looked at her teasingly instead, each time.

"Well, if you think it's so intoxicating I guess I don't have anything better to do, and I might as well check it out. Maybe. I dunno, we'll see." He'd probably be there, unless a youma distracted him, or something.

Castille's eyes lit up as she looked back up at him. "OH really!?" She said, grinning widely. "That's great!" she bounced up and down a couple times, and took another few steps forward. There were five people in front of her now.

"Well, it is at 5 at Meadowview. In the main gym." She said. "There's concessions there, but it would be cheaper if you bought food somewhere else beforehand, if you want."

She looked back at the line, smiling and humming a song. Maybe he would actually like the game.

Nate nodded his head, wondering if he should really go to the game or not. Of course, he would end up there, as he was still vaguely interested in watching chicks running around. So he nodded again, taking her notes on food for what they were.

"I'll probably eat something first, yeah."

Or get some money off Tony and just buy concessions with that, either way. Didn't matter to him, exactly, since he wasn't working and the money wasn't his anyway. Wasting it for himself was just fine, though.

"Alright, I'll probably see you later then. I'm gonna head off."

He nodded, hands in his pockets, as he made to move away from the coffee shop. At least the game might offer some distraction before diving back into the grind of being a senshi, and doing his 'patrols'. Or what passed in his head as patrols, anyway.

Castille nodded, still smiling. "Ok, I'll see you later!" she said as he walked away.

She stood in line for her coffee, but the wait didn't seem that bad. Castille was more excited that she had convinced Nate to go to the game. She picked up her to go cup, letting the steam of the coffee wash over her cold face as she stepped outside. Using her free hand, she pulled out her phone and checked the time. An hour and a half until the game, an hour until she had to be there.

And guess what?

Maybe, just maybe, she was making a new friend.
