She wondered what confused him about the term 'youth', or perhaps he just didn't realise that what she had meant was that she was a mother. She smiled at him, looking faintly amused by his confusion. "Yes, youth," she repeated bobbing her head. Well, she couldn't really shrug it off now or change the subject. She'd have to explain. "I'm a mother, so most of my time I spend with my cubs, though they're growing like little flowers, so quickly!" The term was usually growing like 'weed's, but she hated that term. Her children were not weeds.
She smiled and shrugged. "What about you, Kind Sir, Raiquen? Are you a family man?" She asked, curious as to whether he had cubs of his own. He seemed rather the shy sort, but she supposed that he might have found a mate too, perhaps one that was more outgoing due to his shyness. He was rather sweet too.

"Oh!" Raiquen blinked sheepishly. So she was a mother then. It didn't mean that she was the goddess of youth. But then what was her domain? The lion tilted his head in curiousity. Little flowers? Hearing the familiar term tweaked by her made him chuckle softly to himself. Just the way she said that made him relax and it was almost as if he was talking to just another lioness, not a goddess. "I see. It must be nice to have little ones running about. I'm sure that they are as radiant as you." Though it was weird. He never really had thought about gods having cubs before. Did they grow quickly or were they still cubs while one mortal soul would already be an old adult?
"Not yet." He replied instantly looking to her before quickly looking away. "I mean - I've been too busy dedicating my time to your kin...err I mean all of the gods." The lion looked up towards the sky, "I'm sure your other half is surely blessed though." To even have cubs with her. The lion sighed. What was wrong with him? To be so boldly talking with a goddess was bad enough, but to maybe even start liking her? It was ridiculous of him. Though as Raiquen peeked over at her, he couldn't help but to notice that she was really beautiful. Raiquen, sometimes you really are stupid. She was a goddess after all, beauty included.

Ili'ella smiled, embarrassed by his compliment of 'radiant'. Ili'ella hadn't been around many males since her cubs were born, they tended to turn tail and run at the first opportunity when they heard about cubs and here this male was, complimenting both of them. Her smile grew a little more. "Thank you, you're very kind," she told him with a small laugh, feeling rather light and cheerful. "I think they are all beautiful, but I suppose I am rather biased," she mused, sheepishly.
She watched him, curious as he spoke. She caught the stammer of 'your kind' and 'the god's but she didn't piece it together, simply because the idea was a strange one. "The Gods?" She queried, intrigued. "Are you a worshipper?" Many prides tended to have ranks dedicated to worshipping their gods, or so Ili'ella had seen though she had never really been part of one herself.
She looked surprised at his last comment, and gave a small laugh "My other half? Do you mean my cub's father? I would not call Teleza my 'other half', but I do hope he feels blessed, he has had a rather hard life," she said mournfully. "The two daughters of ours which stay with him, I hope are making him happy though." Which reminded her, she really needed to catch up with him again, and see how he was fairing. She had never really thought herself in love with him, not in the forever mates kind of way, but he was such a dear friend to her, she hated to think of him not being happy.

Raiquen just shook his head, humbled by her thank you. "Maybe, but I was just being honest." He smiled at her, "You have this glow about you, especially in the light. Almost like you are part of the sun itself or even your own star." He chuckled softly at her comment about her cubs. Weren't all mothers biased? Though this time he could honestly say that he believed her. To him all cubs were treasures.
"Of course!" He answered quickly and looked at her with obvious emotion. "I know that some don't really keep the old ways with you - the gods, but I do." He sighed before looking up at the sky, "Actually I'm one of the guides for the shrines here. Do you have one here?" He blurted before looking away sheepishly. What if she did? Or what if she didn't? He knew that not every shrine had its place yet so it was possible. But if needed he would definitely find hers! Jeesh. What was wrong with him? Normally he was so collected around others.
Her laugh surprised him and the lion looked over at her with curiousity. He wasn't her other half? "Hard life?" Raiquen mused out loud before shaking his head. He should go snooping about in other's business. Still wasn't it rather bad of him to feel that instant relief, knowing that she wasn't taken? "I'm sure they are." He suddenly commented. "Daughters are treasures, and I'm sure that he as their father feels blessed to have them with him."

Ili'ella's expression was still embarrassed, but the growing smile on her face was making her face even brighter at his compliments. She gave a soft, girlish giggle at his words, and cast him a warm look. "You have quite the silver tongue, Raiquen," she told him, not really believing all his words. She knew she was pretty - she'd be told so by her family from a young age, but she had never commanded the attention of males often, mostly due to her childish attitude, though that had faded after her cubs had been born. It was hard to be childish when you had children to look after.
This time, she did catch his slips. With you- ? What was he going to say that he had changed to 'The gods' instead? How odd. She was fascinated by his work though. "There are shrines to the deities here?" She asked, her eyes widening a little at his question. "Me? Why would I have a shrine?" She said with a giggle. "Or do you mean, do I tend a shrine here? No. I've never been this way before, though I'm curious of the shrines, I must admit."
She was pleased at his comment and nodded her head. "I certainly hope so." She smiled, before casting him a curious glance. "You sound like you would be quite the father yourself, Raiquen. Surely you have plans for little ones of your own to run around the shrines some day?" She asked, only faintly teasing him.

Raiquen smiled before shaking his head innocently, "Maybe, but only in certain company." He replied quietly teasing the lioness. For some reason the lion felt perfectly fine around her now, perhaps their conversation had loosened him up? Whatever the reason Raiquen had no fear of offending her anymore.
Her question about the shrines made him perk up. He was a guide after all and giving knowledge to others was one of his duties, "Yes. That's what our whole pride is based on. We tend to the shrines and there are some of us, guides, who are here to guide visitors about the shrines." He looked proud of his pride and it was true. The Shrine Keepers was his home and he would never leave it. The stars had lead him there and there he would stay.
"Well because...you know." The lion tried to hint at the truth of her 'nature' because he didn't feel right saying it out loud. He shook his head, "Never mind." Raiquen smiled at her, "If you want I can give you a tour of the shrines. We can visit any that you like. Though-" He sighed softly, "Not all the gods have shrines yet. Since there are so many of - well the gods."
He shook his head with a laugh, "I've never really given it much thought since I've been so busy as a guide." He finally admitted, "Not like I can have any cubs right now," He paused before quickly adding, "Not that I can't! But I want to find a mate first." He realized he was looking at her and quickly looked back at the sky. "I guess some would say that I'm sometimes a bit of a romantic or something like that."

Ili'ella felt her cheeks warm and she gave him a soft smile. He was teasing her, but that and his words made her feel...special. She hadn't felt like that in a while, not since her cubs were born and men started avoiding her. Of course, being a mother was a different type of special, but this type of 'special' was a warming feeling.
She listened in fascination to his words on the shrines, her head tilted to the side. “So you don't tend to shrines, you guide people? Or do you have a shrine to tend too?” She asked, sounding curious. She'd never heard of such a pride before! It sounded fascinating. She'd never met a god or goddess before, that she could say.
“I know – what?” She asked, glancing at him with a mildly confused look on her face. She wasn't getting what he was hinting at. She shook her head, but perked u at his offer. “Oh, that would be fantastic.” She hesitated. “But I shouldn't leave my cubs alone for long. Growing as they are, they still shouldn't be left alone for long...especially with my mother.” The second part was said quieter. She adored her mother, but she didn't trust her that much, with her cubs. She'd probably encourage them to leave and wander off on their own. “Another time?” she offered hesitantly.
Ili'ella giggled slightly at his words, and nodded. “That's sweet,” she told him. “It's nice to know there are other romantics still out there.” She had been a romantic, but Teleza had been her one slip-up. The male who was never to be a mate. She'd always liked the idea of mates though, having seen her parents together and in love for so long. She just wasn't sure if that was for her any more.

Raiquen smiled in return before listening to her questions. "Keepers are those who tend to the shrines. I'm a guide so I just help visitors to find the different shrines that our pride tends to. He laughed softly, "The different paths and shrines can easily lead one astray, so we try our best to keep in the right direction for everyone's sake." Hopefully he would be able to navigate better under the sun and not get lost as easily as he once did.
The lion only looked sheepishly at Ili'ella before perking up at her next comment. He could guide! Though admittedly most of his joy would come from the fact that it would be her that he would be guiding, and spending more time with. His enthusiasm faded at her hesitation and Raiquen sighed in defeat. She was a mother and her cubs always came first. As disappointed as he might be it was good to see that in her. He could respect her choice. "Another time? Of course." He smiled at her, "I'm a guide, it's what I do. Though I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't enjoy your company."
He flushed at her statement, "I guess so." He sighed and looked away into the sky, "Though sometimes it makes one feel a bit silly compared to others." The lion shook his head, " Not that I mind in the least." He laughed. After all he always realized that he could be seen as an odd one, a dreamer who chased myths and clung to the gods. He looked at Ili'ella and his smile warmed. He was perfectly fine with his ways, and glad to have followed his path to here, to meeting others including the one before him. He definitely regretted nothing.

Ili'ella nodded as he spoke, listening in fascination as he explained. "I am impressed that you know the ways to all the shrines," she told him, with a small laugh. "I was born a wanderer, so my sense of direction is not always the best. I was raised to just keep walking and someday, you may end up where you want or need to be." She shrugged, her upbringing was slightly unconventional but she loved her family none the less, even if some parts of it drove her crazy.
She heard him sigh and felt guilty that she could not take up his offer, but her cubs still needed her - and her mother wasn't the best influence. She gave a slightly flustered look at the compliment he tacked onto the end of his comment, and gave him a gentle smile. "Well, I have to admit -" she said slowly, a little unsure if she was still good at flirting, "- that I wouldn't be as interested in the shrines if I went with another guide." She might have nodded, interested but not really, and moved on, but with Raiquen. Well, she wanted to see him again, and she was curious about his work.
Ili'ella shook her head, and flicked her tail a little with a laugh. "Never compare yourself to others," she chastised him gently. "You'll only ever insult yourself by thinking that they're similar enough to you to matter." To compare yourself to another who was not your equal, only let you down and made you doubt your individuality. "You'll find people you don't, or can't, compare yourself to are the most fascinating companions."
She hesitated, and glanced at the flowers by her paws, and then back at Raiquen. She didn't want to leave, but her cubs would be missing her by now. "I should go," she said softly. "My mother will be wanting to return to her own cubs and mate, and she has a long walk back." Her mother might make an excuse to stick around, but Ili'ella hoped she didn't, else she had a feeling that her mother would somehow manage to tag along to her next meeting with Raiquen - and males seemed to prefer her vivacious and flirty mother to Ili'ella, despite the age difference.

Pleased at her praise the lion smiled warmly at her, "It did take a while for me to get used to the paths. I have to admit I think I got lost more than visitors some days." He nodded his head humbly before blinking over at her, "A wanderer." Raiquen's gaze softened, "I had a dear mentor with the same saying. Only it was the stars that we wandered by until finally she passed. I felt lost without her, but the stars guided me here." Shaking his head the lion focused back on Ili'ella, "I hope you finally find your place."
Maybe it would be - Raiquen blinked at the thought. Only if he was so fortunate then it was possible. But best not to dwell on such hopes. She made it hard for him to not hope though. "Thank you, Ili'ella." He gazed at her with a small smile, "I'm glad to hear that."
Raiquen laughed, "Alright. I'll take your advice." What she said though touched the lion. Surely she was a wise goddess to give him such advice. "Most fascinating companions, hmm? I must have find one today then." It hurt him to hear her farewell, but the lion realized that she had to go. "Understandable." He nodded respectfully, "I hope to see you again, Ili'ella. Take care of yourself and your cubs." With one last smile the lion turned and started walking back into the pride lands.

Ili'ella was pleased at his conversations, and was sad to see him go, but she knew that she couldn't stay longer. She really had to get back. "I hope so too, Raiquen," she admitted, honestly hoping to see him again. "Take care." She waited until he had begun to walk back towards where his pride must have been, before grasping the flowers she had picked for her babies in her mouth.
She turned back the way she had come. The new companion she had met had put a certain bounce into her step, and she was pleased to have met it. Today was a good day, she decided brightly, smiling around the stems of the flowers. A very good day.
