Nessie raised a brow, "I'm sure," she let out a low guttural laugh. "You are...very spunky. Very small."
"Kind of mean if you ask me, just chomp her."
Nessie turned her head angrily, "I should have chomped you, a long time ago."

Spunk? She liked that word. The Seathi waggled her fins in a happy fashion, slowly relaxing. She was pretty-but-still-not-quite-sure that Nessie wouldn't eat her. "Small's the best size to be! How many folk to you know who can hide inside a pot?" Cyllene paused, "I have lots of pots, and I can hide in almost all of them! But I can't tell you where I hide my pots." This conversation wasn't going too badly. Maybe getting lost down here, wherever here was, wasn't so bad?
"I am NOT mean." She exclaimed at the voice, though her fins pressed against her body slightly in fear again. She did not not not not not want to be chomped! Especially by some strange thing she hadn't seen! It was true, the Seathi couldn't see the turtle through the murky waters. He was too far away.
"And I can chomp too!"

The skeleton masked face of Hannibal appeared, "Be careful little one." He gave a sadistic little laugh. His slow easy looking manner barely belying the misery and....something else within.
"Hannibal, mind your manners."
"Don't have them." He floated lazily on his back. "Still say you should eat it. Looks mighty...tasty." He smacked his lips.
Nessie rolled her eyes, "You don't eat meat."
"Always a first time."

"Eep!" A small squeak escaped her demeanor as a face that bore an uncanny resemblance to a skull swam into view. Her little heart beat frantically, adrenaline fueling her whole body as her muscles instinctively tensed up again. Just as she'd begun to enjoy herself too. An arrow of annoyance pierced through her panicked manner.
"You don't eat meat?" The realization almost made her laugh. Suddenly, she felt giddy. All that worry for nothing. The turtle-skull thing didn't eat meat. It wouldn't hurt her. His words were empty. Her panic was soothed out by a wave of smugness. "Even I eat meat." She almost but not quite smirked. The skull-brain (for that was her nickname for him now), was nothing but show.
Then again, was Cyllene really any better?

Hannibal leered at her, "Don't taunt me, or maybe you'll be my first meal." He floated in place slowly, almost peacefully.
Nessie shook her head, "Don't push it. He would take it up for spite." She eyed the little creature with a look of agony, "He just doesn't go away."
"Misery loves company," Hannibal laughed hoarsely.
Nessie ignored him as she studied the little creature. It was so small and it was much more frightened than it let on. "What brings you this deep?"

Cyllene cast a sneer at the turtle, finishing it off with a waggle of her tongue as she regained some of her bravado. "Well, Miss Nessie, Mr. Skull-brain, I was swimming around minding my own business, when something shiny glimmered in the corner of my eye. Ever the adventurer, I decided to seek out the strange object." Her voice was the picture of perfect sincerity, her eyes far-off as though recalling a distant memory.
"I swam and swam and swam, and when I looked up I was in the horrifically dark place, with leagues upon leagues of water weighing down upon me. I lost the shiny thing, and then bumped into you."

Nessie spoke again, "I didn't even know one of your kind could come this far down." She had always thought that the waters were too crushing and the seathi too small for it to be able to go so far down.
"What kind of shiny was it?"
Hannibal leered at the seathi, making small hissing noises.

Deciding to tempt her fate a little, the seathi stuck out her tongue at the turtle and waggled it, her eyes taunting and almost daring him to make the next move. Then her bravado flickered slightly, and she turned back to the huge mer. "Well, we seathi are tough, ma'am. But truth be told, I had no idea we could go deep either. Maybe it's just me. I like being strong." She puffed out her chest in a futile attempt to look marginally larger.
At the mention of the shiny, Cyllene's head whipped around, her expression ernest. But nothing. Not even a flicker of a glowing thing. "I'm not sure what the shiny thing was." She even had the heart to look a little dejected at that. "It was faster than me, all I saw was a sparkle as the light hit it and I followed it, but I never caught it. Some sort of quickly moving shining shiny!"

Nessie watched the little seathi glow with pride as she took her remark as a personal compliment. For one so little, she was quite...full of herself. Somehow thought, it was...cute like a foal in a way.
Hannibal lunged forward, but Nessie batted him away quickly as he hissed at her. "Do you think it was something or someone?" Her deep voice spilled out, as Hannibal leered at her.
She had heard of creatures--legend of them at least that there were creatures of jewels, glitter, and gold that swam around down here. But legends weren't really--she couldn't help but laugh at herself. After all, the legends about her were quite real.

Cyllene was almost taken aback. "A shiny someone? I've never seen anyone shine like that. Do shiny someones exist?" She did a flip over to look at the bracelets that adorned her front legs. The cold metal gleamed slightly in the darker waters. Was there someone out there who had the same gleam? Who could sparkle like the gorgeous gems and trinkets she collected?
"I don't think it was someone. I mean, I've never seen anything like it. But maybe it was just a really shiny thing sinking, or caught in a current, and that's why I couldn't keep up? Maybe it was a someone moving really fast."
She eyed the turtle, giggling slightly as he got swatted away. Looked like he wasn't going to touch her. Then again, the great Cyllene could never be something so low as turtle food!

Nessie grinned, "Well there are many many creatures down here that one don't think exist but do." She paused, "I'm not supposed to, and I've never seen one of your kind before...but I've seen these shiny things before. I've seen shocky things too, and dull things with lots of eyes. Seeing is believing and all that."
She flipped her tail lazily and gave a half roll. "It all depends on what you believe you saw and how much you believe of what you're told." She pauses, "Do you think it was a someone? Or was it much too small?"

Cyllene paused, furrowing her forehead, trying to remember. "I'm pretty sure it wasn't a someone. I have never seen a someone look anything like that. She paused, swimming a little closer to Nessie, a big, curious grin on her face.
You've seen the shiny things too? Where? I wanna see them!" In her excitement, she rolled over, flipping a full three hundred and sixty degrees to end up back where she'd been before. "And I know all the shiny things exist, I've been hunting them for years! Though dull things with lots of eyes don't sound that fun." She wriggled her nose in distate. "I guess you've got to do everything once, though!" Her voice slipped down into a sultry, sly tone, eyes shifting to look at Nessie's familiar. "Even maybe eating turtle meat."
With a waggle of her tongue, she carefully made sure to keep herself just out of snapping range of the turtle. She didn't particularly want any scars soiling her beautiful body.
