Azibo didn't seem worried by this question. In fact, part of him had suspected he would be asked something of this nature. "Yes, I am quite healthy..well, as healthy as I can be in a place like this" He doubted he had caught a serious disease, but he was glad there were no cuts or bruises on him, as he did not want to get sick from a infection. And he wasn't sure Hyde would be willing to treat any sick cats
"I also do not have any broken teeth, nor do I posses any fleas...I try to keep as clean as possible" he then replied. "Although..I'm a little stiff from being stuck in a cage..." Did that count as aches and pains?
He then heard her ask Hyde to let him out of the cage, and he almost looked up in shock. To be let out after so long in this place...it felt like a dream come true.

Hyde grunted as he fiddled with the lock and opened the heavy door. Haqikah had expected him to protest, but perhaps he sensed that a sale was near. But then again, other hounds might want to see the wares and test them out first too. It was common enough in the marketplace in Babylon, and only the shadiest merchants refused to let the customers take a closer look before sealing the deal. The worst ones spaced out their visits to Babylon enough to avoid problems with the authorities, but still managed to trick new suckers every time they visited. She'd have to teach her new slaves who to avoid, or have Akil do it.
"Don't just stand there, slave," she said impatiently, "Walk for me."
She motioned towards the aisle between the cages. A short walk up and down the aisle would tell her of any obvious injuries or defects, even if some slaves could hide a limp for quite some time. Or fake it... She remembered a large yellow slave at her mother's house. That cat would fake a limp every time there were heavy work to be done, but could be spry as a kitten the next moment. He was careful to always limp just enough around her mother, and it took her a long time to catch him in the act. And after the beating he received he wouldn't have to fake a limp for his next master...

As soon as the lock was open, Azibo took a few tentative steps out of the cage. As commanded, he walked through the isle , his legs feeling rather stiff as he had not been able to move properly for some time. But apart from this, he showed no visible signs of injury or defects, able to walk the isle and then return to where he was before.
Part of him was tempted of just make a run for it, to escape this wretched place and never have to deal with hounds again. But he doubted he would get far. He was no runner, and since she was much bigger then him, he would most surely get caught very quickly.

Haqikah watched the slave's every movement as he walked away from her, but when he returned she was already removing two coppers that had been tied safely to a string in her bag. There were still coppers left on the string, but not as many as she would have liked. New slaves were absolutely necessary, however, and she would have to worry about stones later. It was too early to ask the gentleman friend that had helped her pay for her renovation, so she would have to get by on what she had or find alternative means of getting stones.
"I'll take him as he is," she said and tossed the two coppers to Hyde, taking care to avoid direct contact with him. The hyena was probably not contagious, but she'd rather not take the risk. "No washing, please. Do you have a name, slave?"
She rarely bothered to remember or use the names of slaves, but she needed a name in order to register him when she came back home. She did know the names of both her slaves back home, but only because Akil insisted on using Nuri's name all the time. And Akil, he had been useful enough to earn the honour of being called his given name. This new one would be 'stripes' or 'slave' until she decided if he was worth the effort.

Frozen in place, Azibo could only watch as the hound had given Hyde the coper coins. She...was buying him. She was actually buying him, and he was going to be taken away from this place! In a very small sense, it gelt like he was being freed
But then, a sense of sadness enveloped him. What about Nesser? how could he leave him to be alone? But he could not ask the Hound to buy him as well...he could sense that she was quite temperamental, and not someone he wanted to anger. Although she did not seem to be a cruel hound, but he couldn't be complety sure. It would take time to find out exactly what made her tick, and what he should and shouldn't do in her presence.
Absorbed in his own thoughts, he almost didn't hear him ask him what his name was. "...Azibo..." He said, making sure to keep his head hung low.

Curious, the slave looked broken and... almost sad. Haqikah dismissed it as another sign of submission. She appreciated how quickly he had adapted to her likes. Quiet, submissive, obedient. A good slave should be seen but not heard, and the ugly or deformed ones should try to stay out of sight too in her opinion.
"Azibo," she repeated, "I'll have to write that down somewhere. You remember it for me for now! Come slave, I want to get out of here."
If she realised how ridiculous it was that she had just told her new slave to remember his own name she didn't show it. Hyde was greeted with a short nod on the way out, and she left the slave market, fully expecting that her new slave should keep up. Her tail wagged slightly as the somewhat fresher air of Zanzibar hit her face. Nothing made this city smell better than a quick trip to the slave market. It was just a pity that there were so few fun shopping options around. She had seen a few other nice looking slaves on her way through the market, but getting just one was a huge success and she wasn't keen on staying.
"I had intended to get another slave today, but I just can't stand to be in there for too long," she said, "It must be different to slaves since you're used to live there. Perhaps you could get one for me later."--- Neser had not missed his friends luck, but he had stayed quiet in his cage in fear of diminishing Azibo's chances of being bought. At first he didn't know what to think, but when his friend was let out of the cage and the hound opened up her purse he knew it was a sealed deal. Azibo would get out of here. Neser was both happy for his friend, and sad that he would e left behind again. He curled a paw around one of the solid bars of his cage but still didn't say a thing. Perhaps Azibo would see it if he looked back. A small white paw as a silent good-bye and good luck.

Nodding to her request, even if it did sound odd, Azibo was quick to follow after her, not wanting to hold her up any more. His ears did perk, and he looked up at her retreating form upon the mention of her buying another slave. And he would be the one to do it? It sounded like a grand proposition, especially if he could come back to purchase Nesser. He had to try, he couldn't bear to leave his friend in there for so long!
as he took one more glance at the cage, he saw with another pang of regret, a white paw that was waving to him, his eyes looked sad, but alas, he could not do a thing at the moment, and he quickly ran after the retreating hound before she scolded him for not keeping up.
