Aksaja eyed Riley at the description of the things this club would be doing. Admittedly . . . some of it sounded pretty fun. Especially paintball. But what was the catch? There probably was one, since things couldn't really be that easy. Fishing a bit, the lightning dragon narrowed eyes slightly. "Mmhm . . . and when does it meet?" Maybe it would be during one of his classes or something and he could get out of it that way. Because he had a feeling that Riley would make what should be fun into a chore. Somehow. Maybe.

Riley did not think, for one minute, that her meeting time of choice was a chore at all. With that in mind, she easily responded. We meet twice a week at 8am in our club room, which is located at the clubhouse. We have initial stretches before we begin our activity of the day. If you'd like, they're currently in the process of setting up the room - the wrestling mats and boxing ring, currently. You can always go in and have a look one of these days while they work on it. Sign-ups are on the door, anyway.

. . . . . And there it was. If there was one thing Aksaja hated - well there was more than one thing, but hey - it was getting up early, and here Riley was, suggesting that he might want to do such a thing. For the sake of exercise. "Eight AM? Seriously? There's a reason all of my classes are in the afternoon, y'know. And it's not so I can get up that early to do . . . sprints or whatever."
Perhaps he could have rejected the offer with a BIT more tact, but . . . that was ridiculous! So far as he was concerned.

Riley's eyes turned to slits. Oh come now, you cannot possibly be serious. I would not have pegged you for the kind of person who wastes his life away sleeping in, Aksaja. She crossed her arms in front of her. You're missing out on a lot, you know. Just try it. It's only two days a week, and if you really don't enjoy it, you can always just quit. Her eyes travelled down the length of him, before returning to meet his gaze. Besides, her voice turned silken. I'm asking nicely. I want you there. Plus, you owe me one. Remember?

Ah hell. She would bring that up, wouldn't she? Dammit, dammit. This was exactly why Aksaja generally preferred to NEVER owe anyone anything. Because they'd choose exactly the worst time to call in the favor. Or the worst favor to ask for. Or both. Usually both. Jack.
"Yea I know I do but . . . I uhm. Couldn't I do somethin' else for you?" he asked, still attempting to wiggle his way out of this. "I just. Mornings suck."

Not really. She lifted her hand and placed it on his shoulder, letting the fingers run down the length of it. I just want to see your smiling - well, perhaps not smiling, since you do hate mornings - but your pretty face at my club. It would mean a lot to me. Besides, mornings will suck less when you're having so much fun. Her eyes crinkled and shaped into crescents, in lieu of a smile. Try it for a bit. Won't you?

Aksaja was thinking frantically by this point, trying to figure out something to do . . . to at least salvage the situation. Because he got the feeling that refusing outright was going to piss her off. And he already knew how bad of an idea that was.
Suddenly, though, he had a brilliant idea. "A'right . . . how about this." He paused, and smirked faintly. "If I join your club. You join mine in return. And you can keep the favor to ask for some other time." That last was tacked on a bit reluctantly, but he suspected that if she agreed to the 'trade' she'd try to keep said favor anyway.

Was he.. trying to make a deal with her? With her? How adorable.. Her eyes sparkled brightly. Hm.. Let us think of it this way. How about, you join my club as return of the favor I did for you in Halloweentown. And.. I shall join your club - you can owe me one for that, later. Perhaps if I need your help with a certain club activity? We shall see.
Her hand rose, held out for him to take. Do we have a deal?

Though he probably should have been more cautious here . . . should have remembered that Riley was a demon, and something about what the demons at this school could do with favors and the like . . . Well. Aksaja was just so very pleased with himself in having (supposedly) maneuvered Riley into joining the Host Club that he didn't even think.
He just stuck his own hand out and grabbed onto hers. "Deal."

Aksaja seemed like a sweet boil. Riley would make sure not to abuse this particular mark, she reasoned silently to herself. She took the hand he'd offered, and lifted it slightly to his chest. The back of her own fingers brushed against his skin in a strangely intimate gesture, and as the air around them grew heavy, the natural sounds of the world around them seemed to mute. Her mark etched against his chest, red in color. It would feel itchy, but not hurt. When she pulled their hands back, the mark turned black and solid, and the thickness in the air lifted as world seemed to return to normal.
Hmm. She surveyed how his chest looked, and nodded. That's a good look for you.

Aksaja blinked when she made that odd gesture, and then made a sort of startled, strangled noise as the world went all strange for a moment. After that, it took the dragon a second or two to discover his newest 'tattoo'. Then his eyes went wide. Oh Jack. Oooh Jackdammit. He'd forgotten about that. s**t.
What had he just agreed to? Not that he could really be mad at Riley, because he had agreed. But. Still. Jack. DAMMIT.

Riley let go of his hand, and brushed her own against his hair. What, nothing to say about my gift? I think it looks nice, don't you? Her hand dropped from his hair, and she ran a finger along her mark. I've always been rather fond of my mark. She shrugged, and dropped her hand. Well, I think I'll be getting back to my run now. I'll head to the club house and sign up for your club when I'm done. What was it called again? Oh, yes - she hadn't even asked what kind of club it was. She had no doubt it was something mundane, like a 'weather club' or a 'book club'.

Aksaja blinked a couple more times, and then a tiny little smirk spread across his features. Perhaps . . . he had indeed gotten the best of this deal. At least for now. "Oh I think it looks pretty nice," he murmured, peering down at his chest.
Then he looked up, and met the mindflayer's eyes. "Just look for the Amityville High Host Club sign-up sheet. It should be pretty easy to find." After all, he'd spent a big of time making it look elegant and sophisticated.

Riley's head quirked slightly. Host club? She asked, clearly clueless. What do you host? Parties? Was his club a party planners club? That didn't sound so bad.. in fact, parties were wonderful ways to socialize and make valuable connections with fellow students.

Oh my, she didn't even know what it was . . . ? Well, this was bound to be interesting. "It's ah. A bit like parties, yea. Pretty much, the people who are in the club gather in a room, or somewhere outside sometimes, at a certain point in the day. And then they . . . host whoever else wants to come by. Entertain them. With conversation, or . . . flirting," there was a sideways look and a little smirk at that word. "Or sometimes parties, or music or whatever."
There had been a tiny group of young dragons that had done much the same back home (mostly in secret) - before their parents found out and broke it up. Though he'd expanded upon the idea just a bit.
