Apollo was sure it would be - I mean Orithia had been groomed practically since her birth to help lead the pack and while she was nervous about it at the moment he was pretty certain that she had absorbed more in that time then he realized. Once she got over her nerves and started dealing with pack things then it would probably come easy to her.
"Killed for it?" He couldn't help but shudder a bit...and be thankful that nothing o the sort would ever happen in his pack, he couldn't fathom living in a pace where you had to spend allot of your time looking over your shoulder just in case one of your pack mates decided to make a power grab. Of course from what he'd heard his father say and his mother mutter to herself from time t time there was one name he would peg as a possible future threat in Orithia's pack right this second..his mothers sister Varia sounded like the type to try something like that. "Well...lets hope she just steps down someday in any case...and that no one tries to dethrone you before you actually make it there" He added as a second though - wouldn't that be somewhat terrible? He rather liked Orithia sure they had some differant beliefs but she was a nice enough wolf and it would be terrible should anything happen to her as gruesome as that.

Orithia nodded slowly. "It is somewhat rare for a Queen to be killed for her title. But it happens sometimes, mostly when she doesn't produce an heir or does something to upset the pack." The Queen who rules before her mother took her place had been killed in the war of squabbling Sisters in their bid for power because Marpe had not produced a female heir. Mother had been lucky to avoid such a fate with having such a female heavy litter, and perhaps one day Orithia would be blessed in the same way.
"Yes, I hope so too." Really Orithia doubted that there would be any opposition to her becoming Queen, the pack had already accepted her openly. Well the only one who seemed to have any problem with her rise to power was her sister Enyo, but they had always been at odds over their birth order and probably always did. But would Enyo be so bold as to attack her just to rise to power? Orithia hoped not, for that would be a sad day indeed when siblings fought over such a thing.
Alcinoe let out a yawn and glanced about as the two talked. They would need to get going soon or else the pack would be up in arms about Orithia being no where to be found. A few more moments and then she would interrupt them if needed.

Apollo had almost...almost forgotten about the bear. until it yawned and drew his attention again - but a quick glance let him know that it didn't seem to be in the mood for a wolf lunch, if anything it looked a bit bored which was a far sight better then the raving crazy personality Merrill would have them believe bears possessed.
"Still..it sounds like a potentially dangerous career path" He told her, having conveniently forgotten to answer her question about what he planned to be in his pack - truthfully he had no idea. "so uh..you know...watch your back and such" He finihed lamely..it had sounded much better in his head.

The conversation seemed to be winding down now and that presented the perfect opportunity for Alcinoe to cut in. Rising to her paws the cream colored bear gave her fur a shake and took a few steps forward. "Princess we need to be heading back, your mother will be worried sick about you." Not to mention Alcinoe was bored out of her skull watching the two talk, but at least Orithia was safe and unharmed and that's all that really mattered in the end.
"Any role is dangerous Apollo. Hunters risk their lives when taking down deer, patrols can be attacked by passing wolves and Alpha's have to worry about revolt from all the wolves beneath them. It's just the way things are." At his next words Orithia smiled widely. "Don't worry, I will. No harm will come to me if I can help it." Alcinoe's words cut through and she turned to face her friend. "Yes of course."
Swinging her attention back to Apollo Orithia stood and gave her already tired muscles a stretch. "I best be going. It was nice talking to you again, thanks for the drink." Turning she began to pad off but stopped a few steps away and looked back at him. "Take care of yourself." And with that she turned and trotted off, Alcinoe right behind her.

Apollo was pretty sure that his life held far less danger then her own - but he didn't want to start an argument by stating that and in any case the bear seemed to be in a hurry to take her home..which was good, sorta. The quicker the bear left the less chance of Merrill coming around to scent her..though it was a pity that she had to go and take Orithia with her Apollo had been enjoying their conversation - it was nice to talk to someone outside the pack from time to time.
"Always do" He promised her when she stopped and told him to take care. He nodded a farewell to her and watched as she padded down the path before turning and heading back towards home himself.
