Natalia was obviously very out of it. She had curled up sleepily against his chest, her eyes fluttering shut, her breathing growing steadily more even.
"Yes, darling," Ren answered with a soft laugh, his hand moving in slow, rhythmic circles on her back. "I can sing. Pretty well too, if I do say so myself," he added with a teasing smile, though he knew she could not see it. The werelemur had lapsed into silence again, but she was not yet asleep. Ren's hand gently stroked her hair. It had been a long time since he had last sung a lullaby; he still remembered the year his grandmother had come to live with his family. She had sung to him and Medieval every night before she had passed; In place of your mother, she had always told them. Because everyone should be sung to sleep at least once in their life.
Ren had memorized the lyrics to the lullaby, and for years after had hummed it to himself before going to bed. When he had gotten in trouble for something again, crawling into bed bruised and battered, he would lay there and whisper the words until he could fall asleep...
His voice low, barely audible except for Natalia's ears only, Ren began to sing softly:
"Sway to and fro in the twilight gray, This is the ferry for Shadowtown; It always sails at the end of day, Just as the darkness is closing down. Rest, little head, on my shoulder, so; A sleepy kiss is the only fare, Drifting away from the world we go, Baby and I in the rocking chair, See where the firelogs glow and spark Glitter the lights of the shadowland; The winter rain in the window, hark! Are ripples lapping upon its strand. There! where the mirror is glancing dim, A lake lies shimmering cool and still, Blossoms are waving above its brim, Those over there on the windowsill, Rock slow, more slow in the dusky light, Silently lower the anchor down! Dear little passenger, say "Good night" - We've reach'd the harbor of Shadowtown."

The ghoul hummed along as if the words and tune were familiar in some way, losing the consciousness that had, for but a few moments, been somewhat in her grasp. The way he sang was beautiful, making every part of her feel relaxed; numb, even as tingles were felt all over her coiled body and then dissipated completely. The lemur wanted to say something after Renaissance had finished but could not, lips parted somewhat while shallow breaths swirled from them; finally settling into slumber as heavily as anyone could.
However in her head, before the lights went out completely, Natalia thought to herself; It's good to know I'm not alone, before suddenly, fiery eyes were wincing from a rising sun's ray.
