What is Abeya Up To?

META POST (and rp contest)

Bale strode down the rock path to the ruins, a smile on his rabbit face, and a jaunty whistle on his smiling lips. He wasn't being quiet, of course, as he fairly skipped through Mossflower's truce lands, and if a beast was nearby for whatever reason, then they'd be able to hear him singing a happy song. His voice was fair, and strong, well trained so that it traveled well through the dense forest area. Every once in a while, Bale would kick up behind him and thump the wooden crate his had strapped to his back with a heel... making a crude drumming effect.

"Happy creatures in the fores'
skip skip skip skip
Good strong voices, rich and porous
skip skip skip skip
Music will take us, lift us and war us
skip skip skip skip
Silence be damned, you'll just have to abhor us."

Each time he sang 'abhor us' he ended in a laugh, a deep chuckle coming up from his gut. The thing was, Bale really did love music. He felt that it got inside you somehow... it could tell a story, and keep history alive, express feelings, and so so so much more!

"SILENCE BE DAMNED! YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO ABHOR US!"

He came up next to a tree, laughing heartily to himself. It had been a while since he'd laughed like this, and it was high time he did too. Dropping the box at the base of the tree, he flipped it upside down with a deft foot and hopped up on top of it. He pulled a piece of painted linen from his hip pack and nailed it to the tree with a small rock and wooden peg.

"Good strong voices, rich and porous... " He fairly whispered the words to the song as he stared up at the poster. "skip skip skip skip." A sad tear rolled down his cheek, but he kept smiling. "Well Aster." He was no longer singing. "I'll do it right, and I won't forget, I won't." He smiled sadly and placed a white paw on the linen poster. "I know you'd want this." Closing his eyes, he leaned against the poster for a moment... then pushed back with a smile and leapt off the crate. He broke into a song the second his feet hit the forest floor again...

"Keeper of silence, you're time has come,
Skip skip skip skip
This forest of voices, no longer is dumb
skip skip skip skip
Aster me pal, don't be so glum,
skip skip skip skip
For you and old Gaffie, the geetars will strum... "

He was well packed up and on the move again, before he was even halfway through his song...

"Happy creatures in the fores'
skip skip skip skip
Good strong voices, rich and porous
skip skip skip skip
Music will take us, lift us and war us
skip skip skip skip
Silence be damned, you'll just have to abhor us."

Soon he was gone, left the opposite direction from where he had come... there wasn't anything left of the happy rabbit except the faint echoes of his song, and the linen poster that he'd left behind...

I suppose you wonder what it said?

You're a lucky forest dweller... because I'll show it to you.

Abeya sat quietly on a flat-topped rock, staring out into the forest, as she usually did. She loved her home in Woodhaven, but she always seemed to be miles away, thinking about her next adventure or discovery. A snapping twig broke her zen-like state, bringing her back to the present. Hopping off the rock, she continued out to the edge of the woods, stopping to look out across the river towards Fleuve. Suddenly, something shining on the edge of the water caught her eye, "Hello!" she said with curiosity in her voice. It was a round piece of something odd and clear, with edges that were smooth and frosted, that also had three small holes of different size. "What on Earth are you?" Abeya got nearer to the object and proceeded to pick it up, “How strange...I've not seen glass like this before..." As she stood there examining it, an acorn tumbled down the embankment towards her. It's top had a gauge in it and easily popped off as it landed near Abeya's feet. Glancing back and forth between the two objects, she suddenly felt as though a blossom had popped open in her mind, "Wait right there" she said to the inanimate objects, then ran to get some fallen branches from a nearby Weeping Willow. Placing the mysterious object on top of the up-turned acorn top, she fastened them together with the flexible yet sturdy willow branch. "Now let's see if this works..." she said hopefully. Holding the newly made instrument, she placed her lips against the chipped rim of the acorn top and blew. A shrill, whistling sound emanated from it, a lovely if not high pitched sound. Placing her hands over the holes, Abeya was able to fluctuate the sounds and make quit an interesting melody.
With her curious and adventurous urges satiated for the time being, she rushed back to her home to find an appropriate place to display her new creation.

Round One: Option One
Round Two: Option One
Round Three: Option Two
Round Four: Option One

It was a lovely, yet chilly day in Woodhaven. Normally Abeya would be off exploring somewhere, or gathering treasures and trinkets, but the slight n** in the air changed her plans. Instead, she decided it was the perfect time to do some tidying around the house. She began outside, sweeping away stray pine needles from what she referred to as "the front stoop", the flat place just in front of the knotted tree-trunk she called home. Once that was cleared to her satisfaction, she headed inside to both warm up and carry on.

"Hm-Hm-Hm...Hmmmm-Hm-Hmm..." Abeya hummed a random song as she continued cleaning around the house. It was Saturday, and Saturday meant dusting her trinkets. She carefully took each one off their special spot on the shelf, gently wiped them off and placed them back exactly where they had previously been. It was a tedious job, but it gave her the chance to admire them up-close, giving time to each of them individually. "Hhmmm...Hm-Hmmm-Huh!?" Her left ear twitched slightly and she turned her head, "Did you hear something?" she absentmindedly said aloud. She stopped for a moment, but couldn't hear anything, so she carried on with her chores. No sooner had she picked up her Ocarina then the sound started again. Carefully placing the Ocarina back down she tip-toed to the window to listen again. Scratch-Scratch, there it was again, like claws on bark, Scrap-Scrap. Her right ear began to twitch, "That's it...Chores can wait" Picking her coat off the hook, she tugged it on and fastened the button, then headed off to investigate the sound.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pulling her hood up over her ears, Abeya headed out to find the source of the mysterious scratching. After going about three feet away from her front door, she stopped and shrugged, no longer hearing the sound. “Strange…maybe my mind has gone silly.” She shook her head and wondered if maybe she had just been imagining it. Giving up, she turned around and headed back, only to be surprised with what she saw. Climbing around just above her door was a ladybug. “Well, if you’d been a Hawk, I’d have been eaten already!” As she got nearer, the ladybug began to scratch about again, “Well, goodness, you’re awfully loud for such a little thing, no wonder I didn’t find you right away!“ Reaching up towards the lovely red bug, Abeya cooed and tried to gain it’s attention and trust. She was soon rewarded, as it climbed down and into her hands. “Lost”, it said, “Lost” Abeya frowned, and then quickly smiled again, “Well, that’s no good…we can’t have that…I’ll get you home.” What could be better, not only doing a good deed, but also having a good excuse to go exploring. After checking that her fire was out and the door to her little home was securely closed, Abeya and her new little friend headed off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abeya glanced back at Woodhaven as she left it’s borders. Oh, how exciting! She thought to herself, This will be quite an adventure, won‘t it? “Home…Home” The little bug began to call. Abeya raised an eyebrow and looked at the muddy hole of a place. “Well, not my cup of tea, but who am I to judge?” She shrugged and put the ladybug down, letting her free to run.

---

“Eeerrr…Ergh!” Abeya whimpered, tears in her eyes, as she finally came to. One hand went to her head, the other went down to push herself into a sitting position. As soon has her hand touched down she pulled it back and quickly scrambled away from the slimy feeling. Looking at where she had been laying, she began to feel sick, seeing all the used and discarded bandages covered in puss and blood, which was now all over her hands and coat. “Vile!” She turned to see the Badger looming over her, “You disgusting creature…you vile, pathetic creature!” On any other occasion, Abeya would have felt pity for the Badger and maybe even offered to help…but having been met with violence and the threat of death by eating, she felt nothing but anger and hatred.
With the blood boiling in her tiny mouse veins, making her feel ten times her true size, all Abeya could think of was fighting this beast and making her pay for her depraved and brutish ways. Her tiny paws balled up and she began shake, a high pitched squeaking sound emanating from her tightly pursed lips. Then with a strength that would have shocked Abeya, had she not been so caught up in everything, she leapt forward at the Badgers face and began to claw furiously at her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Her attempt to fight off the Badger had failed miserably, but that didn’t stop this manic little mouse. Her blood was pumping and adrenaline was flooding her tiny body. She was going to fight until this was over, regardless of the outcome, She wasn’t going down easy. She had far to much living to do, and she wasn’t about to die without seeing her birthplace in Fleuve. She continued to squeak and squeal, wriggling with all her might. The Badger leaned forward, making it impossible for Abeya to escape the rancid smell of death and decay that permeated from her mouth. The tiny mouse had never experienced death first hand, but she was sure that it would smell like this Badger.

Having been tossed like a rag out of the window, she was understandably shaken as she came too in the dark, muddy hole. After taking a moment to gather her thoughts, she tried to come up with a way to get out. “Well…I have to keep moving…as long as I’m moving, she won’t want to eat me…but that won’t work for long…” She ran around the hole attempting, to no avail, to climb the walls. After what felt like hours, but was more likely just seconds, she gave up and plopped down in the mud. The feeling of defeat was overwhelming and tears began to well up in her eyes. “Help me…please…” She prayed as she cried, “Somebody…” Remembering that she needed to stay on the move, she stood and began to pace around, crying louder as she moved, “Help!!!…Somebody…Help Me!” Scrambling as far up the wall as she could, before inevitably sliding back down, she yelled at the top of her tiny mouse lungs. She doubted anyone would hear her down there, but she was damn well going to give it her all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abeya had no time to feel apologetic for biting the poor badger, no time to even say thank you for the rescue. He placed her down on the ground and pushed her along, “Go! Get going now!” She nodded, but it just made her head ache all the more. Running as fast and as straight as a creature with a concussed head and bruised body could, she made it back to the border of Woodhaven. Safety! She sighed and slumped against a tree for a moment, to catch her breath and gather her wits. Her head was spinning and her emotions were all over the place. She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh or some combination of both. Part of her felt betrayed by the bug, disgusted by the Badger. But another side of her felt pity and sympathy for the both of them.

Her head finally stopped spinning and she got back on her feet. Slow and steady, careful of her speed and step, she made her way back home. Home, Beautiful Home! She pushed the door open and made her way to her bed, flopping down onto the soft warm moss to sleep off the adventure. As she finally dozed off, she laughed, knowing that despite all of this, she would never stop exploring. Once she was well again, she would be back on the trail, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Abeya stood at the edge of Woodhaven, tossing pebbles up into a tree. "What're you doing?" came a voice from behind her. "Uh?" She dropped the pebble and turned around, "Not doing anything..." The creature behind her wasn't at all familiar, but not threatening, so she didn't run from him. "Are you sure you're not trying to knock loose that big acorn there?", He gestured with his head and then pointed. "Oh...well, actually...Yes" Abeya lowered her head and kicked at the dirt. "You'd have better luck using this, Little One" With that, he handed her a slingshot, then with a wink he turned and left, not even giving her time to thank him.

Valentine Adoption Contest

Lovely Morning, Isn‘t it?”, “Good Morning, Abeya!”, “Hello Abeya, Off on another adventure?

The little mouse laughed as she waved hello to the various beasts she passed. It truly was a lovely morning, the perfect morning for another adventure. Normally she headed left out of her door and circled around until she arrived back home, but something in the air told her that today she should head straight on. And that’s what an adventure is all about, going somewhere new, doing something different. It was about time she changed her habit.

Stopping here and there as she went, Abeya gather various treasures: seeds, berries, acorn tops. Eventually her arms became just too laden with stuff, so she settled down by a fallen tree limb to rest and have some lunch. Had she not been munching away so loudly, she would have heard the whimpering cries earlier. Sniff-Sniff, Squeak-Squeak…Where was that coming from? Abeya’s ear twitched and she looked around, but there was nothing out in the open , so she abandoned her snack and went off to locate the source.

A tiny mouse sat huddled in the hollow of a log, hugging his knees and crying. He was cold and wet from all the rain the previous evening, and very hungry as well. His mother had gone off in search of food and never returned. After a few days, He had decided to go looking for her, but succeeded only in getting lost himself. Having come to the sad realization that he would never see his mother or other family members again, he found sanctuary in a nearby nook and waited for a miracle.

Hello!” Abeya called out, “Anyone there?” She figured it was safe to call out, since any animal that could be a danger to her would have made a much louder racket than that. “In here.” Came a small voice a few feet to her right. Spotting the opening in the log, she ducked her head inside and smiled, spotting the tiny brown mouse. “Oh, hello there…why are you crying? Is something wrong?” The little fellow sniffled and nodded, “Lost my mommy. Think something bad got her…She wouldn’t leave me.” Abeya’s smile soon fell to a frown, not really knowing what to say to comfort him. With a sigh, she sat down next to the boy and patted his back, “It’ll be okay…I can promise…I lost my mom too, and my dad…twice.” The little mouse looked up at her with a curious but slightly comforted look, “Twice?” Abeya nodded and told him the story of losing her parents when she was tinier than he was now. She had been found by a nice couple and raised as there own. But they soon died as well. If anyone knew this little fellows pain, it was Abeya. “By the way, what is your name?” she asked him. “Newt,” he replied, “Not Newton, Just Newt.

Nice to meet you, Newt! My name is Abeya.” She extended her hand and gave him a firm but friendly paw shake. “We should get you cleaned up and dry. You look real hungry too. Let’s get you fed.” With that Newt and Abeya left his little cubby and headed back to her place, stopping off to pick up the seeds and berries she had left behind. After getting him cleaned up and dried off, Abeya sat him down at the table to eat. While he nibbled away, she went searching for something he could wear. “Ah! Here we go…This will definitely do!” She announced proudly as she presented him with deep green tunic with brown laces. It was a tad bit big, but he would be sure to grow into it.

Thank you. I feel a lot better now.” Newt smiled and hugged Abeya’s waist, “I was asking for a miracle back there in the hole. And then I heard you calling. You found me just when I needed somebody most.” A tear came to Abeya’s eye as she hugged Newt in return. Maybe he was her miracle as well. What better way to honor those who cared for you, than by caring for the future generation. Abilene and Findley would be pleased. “Newt?…Would you like to stay here? I could take care of you…”, She took a deep breath and wondered what his answer would be. “Really?…You mean, like, be my big sister or something?” Abeya let out an excited breath, “Yes, that’s exactly right…We can make our own little family. And I promise I won’t go leaving or disappearing. Promise!” The two mice clung to each other joyfully. She had gone looking for an adventure that morning and she sure did get one!

What Is Abeya Up To?

Newt sat on his new bed, picking at the moss that made up his mattress. He hadn’t spoken much at all since Abeya brought him home, and he was slowly closing in on himself, which caused her great worry. Abeya tiled her head and frowned slightly, “Newt, is something wrong?” He lifted his head, but still said nothing. “You know…if you want to…we can talk…” He shrugged and then nodded, getting up from the bed and crossing to the table where Abeya sat. Climbing onto the toadstool chair, he put his elbows on the table and rested his chin in his paws, “It wasn’t just mommy…I lost them all.” Abeya nodded, but let him continue without interruption. “Mommy went out…with Rose…and they never came back. A mean old shrew said that Mommy was dead, but I didn’t believe him…so I went to find them. Needed to get Mommy back, needed to make sure Rosie is safe.” Abeya sniffed and held back tears. “I looked for a real long time, I did…but I got tired, so I went home…but they were all gone! Alder and Trixie and Pantoof and Burrik. I lost them too…lost everybody!” Abeya rose from her seat and walked around the table and wrapping her arm around Newt, who cuddled into her shoulder. “So I left again…went looking…but I got real lost and real hungry…and then the rains came, so I hid in that log…and you found me.” He looked up and forced a thankful smile, “Will you help me, ‘Beya?…will you help me find them?…especially my Rosie.” Abeya hugged him tight and nodded, “Of course I will…Of course.” Abeya sighed, thinking about her own family, whom she knew nothing about. She liked to think about them from time to time, imagine what they looked like or what happened to them. Maybe helping Newt reunite with his family would help her find the closure she needs for that chapter of her little life.

Newt scuffed at the dirt as Abeya went about her chores. He seemed restless, stuck between staying safe with Abeya or heading out again to find his missing siblings. But every time safety won the day. Stop being such a coward...what if they need you? He sighed deeply, What could you do anyways...you're no match for a fly! Abeya watched him from the window and shook her head, trying to figure out some sort of encouraging word for him. Then she remembered the box her adopted father left her. "Maybe there's something in there that will help?" she said quietly but aloud. Pulling the box from underneath the shelf she rummaged through and came up victorious: A sword! Well, not a real one, a wooden one, a simple toy. But maybe this was the thing to help break Newt from his shell...

What is Newt Up To?

Newt Finds a [hopefully] Forever Friend

It had been a day or two since Abeya had brought Newt to Mossflower. Ever since his experience at the Circus, he had been much more lively and speaking constantly about finding a wonder-bug of his own. It had taken all that time to finally convince Abeya that they did, indeed, have the space for one more creature in their little house. Newt sat by the window, head in paws, as he stared off into Woodhaven daydreaming about the ultimate bug. Abeya sat by the fire pit with a bucket of water, washing berries, “Newt, will you clean off the table? Dinner’s nearly ready.” He lifted his head and turned to her, “Oh, yeah…sure thing…” But as he turned his head back to the window, he caught something colorful flash by the corner of his eye. Huh? That was strange. He shrugged to himself, then got to work clearing off the table and setting out the acorn top bowls.

---

Dinner passed quickly as Newt scarfed down his fresh greens and berries salad. As the two mice began to clear the table, Newt spotted the same flash of color again, this time near the door. He rubbed his eye a blinked a bit, making sure that his vision wasn’t going silly. Just then, looking straight on this time, the red and orange flash skittered by again. “Wuh!?” Newt gasped and pointed, but it was gone before Abeya could see it. The little mouse was so excited and so curious he ran right out the front door and began to search for the source. “Newt. Newt! Be careful!” Abeya called out, following him.

---

After what seemed like hours had passed, Newt finally gave up his search for the colors. Even Abeya, an avid wanderer and adventure lover, was exhausted. The two trudged home wearily, “Sorry you couldn’t find it, Newt…whatever it was.” Newt nodded and sighed. He was about to admit defeat as they rounded the tree, home coming into clear view. But then it happened again, that flash of color, but this time it stayed in one place. When the odd fluttering subsided, Abeya and Newt finally saw what it was: A Ladybug! Newt gasped and began to bounce with joy, running towards it. “Newt…” Abeya was about to call out, warning him that his exuberance might frighten it away…but it stayed. It even let the little mouse kneel down next to it and put his paw on its shell. “All along, ‘Beya…all along it was a ladybug…the ladybug I wanted…can we keep it!?” Abeya nodded, “If it wants to stay, it’s more than welcome!” Newt picked up the surprisingly light bug and brought it inside, “I’ll call her Nell…and she will be my forever friend. I just know it!

What Is Abeya Up To?

Newt was outside, using his new sword to fight imaginary creatures, and winning spectacularly. Abeya was taking this chance to do some sweeping up, clearing away dead leaves and debris. As she hummed an old folk song she seemed to suddenly gain accompaniment. Ducking her head out the door, she wondered if maybe Newt knew the song as well. But he was far too busy shouting things like “I’ll have you!“ and “I can take you blindfolded!” She laughed and then went back to humming, again joined by an odd not-quite-musical hum. She was used to the sounds of the woods, but this one…this one was very odd indeed. Continuing to hum the song, she headed in the direction of the source. Just a few steps from her own front door she heard it at it’s loudest, but could see nothing but a tiny hole in the dirt. Just as she was about to turn around, the noise started up again, but this time louder. She stared at the hole intensely as it grew to a crescendo, when suddenly something came flying out of the hole, smacking into her chest and knocking her off her feet. “Oof!” She stood back up and rubbed her chest, it felt as though she had been pelted by a pebble. The noise was now at full volume and spinning around her head.
By now it was so loud that Newt became distracted form his play fighting and came over to Abeya to see what the matter was. “What is it? What’s the noise?” Newt asked. Abeya looked up, squinting, unable to see what it was for the brightness of the sun. “I can’t tell…it’s little…and it really hurt.” she grumbled, rubbing the sore spot on her chest. Shielding there eyes, they continued to search the sky. Eventually the sound became quieter and lower to the ground, soon stopping all together as a fuzzy black and yellow creature came crawling towards their feet. “Hhmmmm…Hm-Hhmmm…Hhhzzzmmm!” said the Bumble Bee before them, “Zzmmm-Hhmmm…” Newt jumped back, unsure of the bee, since he had never seen one himself. “Well, by the Great Tree…It’s a bee!…” Abeya slapped her leg and bent over, laughing, “It’s okay, Newt…it’s just a bug.

Drink 'til You Drop

There is a sign nailed to a tree that says "The Wooden Stage Bar.
I doubt that Bale will be too happy about that.

It was that time of year again. Time for Gormen to venture out of his comfort zone and into the crazed atmosphere of Mossflower. The chance to get his paws on some of that ale was worth the discomfort of being around so many people. Trudging slowly like a stubborn child being taken somewhere he didn’t want to be, he made his way to the stage. Searching around a bit, he scooted down the row and took a seat, impatiently drumming on his legs.

“Are you going? I’m going! Hurry Up! Get a good seat!” Abeya looked around, confused, listening to all the excitement. Stopping a shrew, she asked what was going on. With the roll of their eyes, the shrew explained, clearly unimpressed that Abeya didn’t know already. Newt tugged her arm, “You should go ‘Beya…ya never know.” With a shrug and a nod, she grabbed Newt’s hand, “If I’m going, you’re coming too.” Newt laughed as they headed to the stage and found a seat with a clear view of the happenings.

-------------------------------------------

You've decided to come to Milligan's annual Green Day Drink Down... you know why too, you want to win that epic bottle of Milligan’s Green Day Super Ale that you've all come to know and love. Maybe you want it so that you can drink it... maybe you want it so that you can trade it... who knows... all you know is that you really really really really want to win it.

Milligan the hedgehog at the bar (which is made up of stacked crates) walks around all the makeshift tables that you are all sitting at. The whole place is open air, set up in the middle of the woods, and you can feel the cool breezes of spring running across your fur (scales?). Before you know it, Milligan himself comes around and places small shot glasses full of noxious green liquid in front of all of you. Some of the glasses are wood and tall, some are ceramic and round, some are strange bubbly glasses that are short and fat... really though, even with all that variation in shape and colour, it's the green liquid that catches your attention.

This...

This green goop is not the Super Ale you're trying to win. No, this is fondly referred to by all StoneCrestians as "Pure Leaf"... and it'll punch you in the face, loosen your teeth, and leave you feeling like you've been chewed up and spit out by a Wild boar with gingivitis... but *wheezegaspdie* it's GOOD STUFF!

You stare at it for a second... and before you get a chance to think about it, Milligan reaches up and rings a bronze bell as big as your head. "ROUND ONE! DRINK TILL YOU DROP" he calls out in his husky voice. You know how this works.

Gormen: It goes down HARSH! [Roll 4]
Abeya: It could have been worse, bring on round two... [Roll 14]
Newt: You pass out. Game over. [Roll 2]

Gormen leaned in and looked at the green gooey liquid, sniffing at it. Scrunching up his nose he shook his head. “Here goes…” He picked up the shot, plugged his nose, then gulped it down in one. *coughgaspwheeze* Gormen grabbed the table as he nearly toppled out of the chair. Grabbing at his chest and throat, he continued to cough. Hopefully this gets easier as we go…

Abeya looked around and saw everyones reaction to the shot. Looking down at Newt, she pulled a hesitant face, “What’d’ya think? Might as well, right?” She picked it up and swallowed it down. Then waited. Surely she should feel something. Maybe she got a placebo? Strange. She shrugged and looked at Newt watching him fall off his seat. “Poor guy!” She picked him up and patted his back, “Here…have some water. You’ll feel better soon.”

Newt watched as Abeya hammered it back like a pro, then puffed up his chest, "I can do it too!" It had barely touched his lips when he began to feel quite dizzy and woozy. The room began to spin and he fell back off the chair. Next thing he knew, Abeya was offering him some water from her bag and laughing.

------------------------------------------

Milligan, the hedgehog at the bar, (which is made up of stacked crates) walks around all the makeshift tables that you are all sitting at, and places a another round of small shot glasses full of noxious green liquid in front of all of you.

You noticed that at least one other creature in the contest has passed out, and you think you might have this in the bag. You're even more glad it isn't you when Milligan walks up to the little mouse and stuffs a small cork in between his teeth to keep his mouth open and keep him breathing while he's passed out.

You stare at your 'drink' for a second... and again, before you get a chance to think about it, Milligan arrives back up at the bar and rings a bronze bell as big as your head. "ROUND TWO! DRINK TILL YOU DROP" he calls out in his husky voice. You know how this works.

Gormen: Seriously? Am I drinking the same thing as that mouse was? [Roll 20]
Abeya: Seriously? Am I drinking the same thing as that mouse was? [Roll 20]

Just as he had hoped, the second shot went down much easier. As smooth as water off a ducks back, really. He cracked his knuckles and smiled smugly at everyone else. He had this in the bag!

Abeya watched at Milligan quickly saw to Newt, “I’ll take care of him…He’ll be right as rain in no time, he’s a survivor.” She laughed and cuddled Newt to her side, then took a second shot. No burning or coughing this time, just smooth sailing down her throat. Glancing at the haggard hedgehog a few tables away, she gave him a smirk to mirror his.

----------------------------------------------

Milligan, the hedgehog at the bar, (which is made up of stacked crates) walks around all the makeshift tables that you are all sitting at, and places a another round of small shot glasses full of noxious green liquid in front of all of you.

You noticed that this time, 3 other creatures in the contest have passed out. You take a moment to wonder why Milligan huffs and puffs around the tables stuffing corks in between their teeth, but you imagine that it's to make sure the unconscious animals all have a good breathing passage while they're passed out... and hey! These corks are usually from a good wine bottle, and can be collector's items.

You stare at your 'drink' for a second... and again, before you get a chance to think about it, Milligan arrives back up at the bar and rings a bronze bell as big as your head. "ROUND THREE! DRINK TILL YOU DROP" he calls out in his husky voice. You know how this works.

Gormen: How can this be worse? ... No more... no more please... okay, one more... [Roll 12]
Abeya: You pass out. Game over. [Roll 5]

The third shot was not so kind. Gormen coughed and gasped, almost ready to throw in the towel. But then he spotted the snotty grey mouse topple over, and that was enough incentive to keep him going. Serves you right.

Abeya felt invincible after the second shot, so she thought nothing of continuing the game. She grabbed the glass and slurped it down. She felt a bit strange, but nothing she couldn’t handle, surely. She began to feel a bit dizzy, grabbing onto the table for support, but still definitely up to another round. This was a piece of…*coughgasppassout*

You noticed that this time, several other creatures in the contest have passed out. You don't even bother keeping count this time, as Milligan huffs around the tables and stuffs corks into teeth... there's quite a few creatures out this time.

You stare at your 'drink' for a second... You realize you're too muddy in the head to think when Milligan arrives back up at the bar and rings a bronze bell as big as your head. "ROUND FOUR! DRINK TILL YOU DROP" he calls out in his husky voice. You know how this works.

Gormen: What? I'm sorry.... I'm getttin shhhhleepy. [Roll 19]

Gormen watched as quite a large chunk of competition dropped out, literally. He glanced around and saw the other hedgehog, then grumble as he spotted four very young mice still holding on. He wouldn’t go out before them, not without a fight! He grabbed the glass and chugged it down, slamming it back to the table. He began to feel a little dizzy and wobbly, but he managed to stay on his chair, and stay conscious!

Everyone is passed out except for 2 hedgehogs, a Bird of Prey, and a Teeny Tiny Mouse boy who seems to be not only pulling his own weight, but also the weight of a few badgers too!

You stare at your... wait... where are you again? *DING DING DING* "ROUND FIVE! DRINK TILL YOU DROP"

Gormen: You pass out. Game over. [Roll 11]

Gormen thrusts his paws, balled into fists, triumphantly into the air. It was down to him, a fellow ‘hog, some odd bird, and a clearly genetically modified mouse baby. “I’ve got this!” He slammed his fists onto the table and grabbed the shot, swilling it down. And then it all went black…

What Are They All Up To?

[Gormen was too wasted from the night before, so he dropped out at Round 3, Newt surprisingly made it all the way to Round 4 and Abeya bravely managed to reach Round 5]

Drink 'til You Drop

Out from the Woodhaven bordered trudged a heavy laden mouse, carrying something brown and furry on her back. Oh, that must be Abeya and Newt! While Abeya was feeling far better than poor little Newt, she still had a pounding headache, despite drinking lots of water and resting. Newt on the other hand was still slobbering drunk. That green goo did not sit well with the little guy, which was surprising, seeing as his baby brother had been the Round One winner. He was slurring his words and still not walking very straight, but Abeya really wanted to give the contest another try and couldn‘t bare leaving him on his own, so she decided the easiest thing to do was carry him. “Slosspowder, ahoy!” Newt called out as they entered Mossflower, making their way to the stage. Finding a seat, Abeya left Newt to lay down under the table, singing to his Fez.

Gorman was a bit achy, but having spent the past few hours sleeping off the effects of Round One, he decided that he was in as good a shape as he could possibly be. He grumbled and groaned at all the noise as he made his way through the market again, swiping his paw at anyone who got too near him. A half-bottle was well and good, but he had a reputation to uphold, in his own mind anyways. Finding a seat, he rested his head in his paws and waited for Round Three to commence.

Abeya: [Roll 7] It could have been worse, bring on round two...
Newt: [Roll 4] It goes down HARSH!
Gormen: [Roll 10] It could have been worse, bring on round two...

Abeya watched as the shot was placed in front of her, psyching herself up for it, she jugged it down and began to cough. Thumping her fisted paw against her chest, the coughing soon subsided and she was ready for #2.

Newt finished his song and crawled out from under the table in time for Milligan to place a shot before him. Clearly not of sound mind at the moment, Newt snatched it up and drank it down as though it were water. But it didn’t go down as smooth. With a wheeze and a cough, he slumped into his chair and pounded the table, “Smore! Smore! Encore!”

Gormen held his paw against his head, wincing as he drank down the first shot. It burned a bit as it went down, but no too terribly. With a grunt, he straightened up in his seat, waiting for the next one.

-------------------------------------------

Abeya: [Roll 12] It could have been worse, maybe some round three?

Newt: [Roll 18] I can do this... I got this handled
Gormen: [Roll 14] I can do this... I got this handled

Abeya wheezed after the second one went down, “Oh…my…” She coughed and then took a deep breath. She was still in it, but for how much longer?

Newt hiccupped a bit as he grabbed for the second shot. Swallowing it down, he laughed. Had he grown an iron stomach over night?

Still so many competitors in it. Gormen grumbled as he drank the second shot. It went down easily, with a slight burning tickle, but he was still along for the ride.

---------------------------------------------

Abeya: [Roll 13] How can this be worse? ... No more... no more please... okay, one more...
Newt: [Roll 15] This... that.... I can't.... Yeah... Hey, you're hot suddenly! Wanna... ???
Gormen: [Roll 1] You pass out. Game over.

Abeya’s head began to swim, she felt as though she were falling, but lucky enough for her she was still in her seat. She wasn’t out for the count yet.

The little mouse hammered it back and burped, then looked around the spinning room. “Yous so prinny!” Newt called to a nearby black and yellow bird, trying to look suave and sexy, his Fez tilted at a jaunty angle.

Gormen slurped the shot down and seconds later was on his spiny back. He should have been happy with a half-bottle…now he was really going to pay for it in the morning!

----------------------------------------

Abeya: [Roll 11]Pleash... no *hic* more. I cansht take it anymores.
Newt: [Roll 10]You pass out. Game over.

With a bigger groan than someone would expect from someone so tiny, Abeya slumped against the table. She was nearly ready to throw in the towel.

Guess it’s back to serenading his Fez for Newt. Poor Little Guy!

--------------------------

Abeya: [Roll 5] You pass out. Game over.

Spinning, Spinning, Blackness. Soon Abeya was passed out under the table next to Newt. I guess that serenade has turned into a duet, what a lucky Fez.
