Kaia had been enjoying the silence. The afternoon was beautiful, she felt as if she'd actually been productive for once, and she was enjoying the company of the newly befriended stranger sitting next to her.
And then she asked her a rather unexpected question.
Kaia was living in the Negaverse HQ, she had no cell phone, and she.. didn't have any real college information to give. Not to mention that if they went exploring into her legal documentation they might hit a snag or two. Lying wasn't something Kaia condoned, but she certainly couldn't do anything else in this situation, even if it pained her to be dishonest.
"Oh, I live on campus, we have a line hooked up in our dorm - but no cell I'm afraid." She gave her a brief smile, though it was really just a cover while she thought up some random number. "328-0197, you should be able to reach me there, and if there are any more questions you can just ask me then?"
So much for this girl being a friend, she supposed. She'd clearly know she had lied when Lumiere inevitably called.

"On campus.. I see. Isn't it inconvenient? To lack a cell phone I mean." Lumiere thought that the situation must have been quite the bother, extracting her wallet. Lumiere took out a card, handing it to Kaia. "I'll be sure to call but I'm afraid what may be convenient for me might not be so for you. So, it should be ready in a week, if I haven't called by then, call me here?" Lumiere had no idea as to Kaia's inner turmoil, oblivious to the manner. On the card was the female's name and phone number, presumably a business card with the manager's information below.
Lumiere stood, dusting her skirt and front. "I'll take my leave now. Next time, we can have have some proper tea instead of the commercial kind. When we both have time, it'd be lovely to re-acquaint ourselves in a less abrupt manner?" Lumiere offered, settling her purse comfortably on one shoulder.

"A little, I admit, but maybe I'll look into getting one." She could see that if she was going to continue to convince the rest of Destiny City she wasn't some kind of foreigner hiding from the government, she was going to have to find some way (and some cash) to get things like a cellphone.
She took the card from Lumiere as it was passed, though it felt like a materialization of her lie as she glanced over the fine print scrawled on the surface. She stood when Lumiere did, still staring at the card for a moment, before she dropped her hand to her side and glanced over at the new girl.
"Alright, I'll wait for your call." All this lying was starting to make her feel unnerved, and a little nauseous. "For both things." She waved her hand in the general direction of the manager and the negotiations, and then smiled at Lumiere. "Tea would be lovely, just give me a call, all right?" She turned then, towards the opposite direction, and gave the girl one last little wave before she completely looked away and started heading down the street.
The card was still in her hand though, a reminder of her lies and all the things she had to give up. She just hoped one day it would all be worth it.
