Perhaps that was why he had vomited. Vi had heard of such things, she knew it to be possible. Some seers were so sick with their visions that they couldn't function ever. At least Nadhir seemed to have lapses where he was coherent enough to have conversations. Now she wouldn't have to worry that he had some deadly disease.

"It must be hard on you sometimes," she said softly. There was no pity in her voice.

"A rose?"

"The colors of a rose," he corrected, staring at her for a moment, "I think it must have been your eyes." Hard on him? Hard on his mother more so, she had always taken his condition more seriously than anyone else had. At least his siblings had hidden their views on his weakness. She never had, she had always been quite clear that she believed he was broken. This female at least, didn't seem to share the same view. "It can be dangerous," he conceded, "If a vision strikes me when I am trying to run from something or if I'm near water. There's always a chance I might choke or drown, but usually I can feel it coming on."

Ahh, her eyes. That dusky rose color, she'd always been a bit vain about her eyes. She felt a slight blush tinge her nose and Vi grew slightly annoyed at herself. Now was not the time for mooning over his visions -- visions he had of her. "I can see how that would be dangerous. It is lucky for you, then, that you have a traveling companion?" She hoped that his friend was nice. Vijaya didn't think she could bear someone awful taking advantage of Nadhir.

This protectiveness she felt well up in her chest wasn't something she understood. But he'd seen her in her visions, and she had to believe that she was here with him for a reason.

"Yes," he said suddenly, as if he had forgotten the male still waited back at their resting spot for him, "Grendel, you really must meet him." The older male had done well for him so far, he pushed him forward and he felt stronger each moment he spent with him. Granted, they had their disagreements, but all friends did. "He's just beyond me, where I've been circling, waiting I think," he explained, "I met him outside the borders of my pride, surely he'd like another companion if you'd want to join us. We don't quite know where we're going, but we'll get there eventually."

Vijaya dipped her head in a slight nod, a ghost of a smile flitting across her muzzle. "I would be grateful of the company," she murmured, watching him carefully. If he showed any sign of weakness she would be swift to brace him so that he didn't hurt himself if he happened to fall to the ground. She didn't want to be obvious about it, though. They were still strangers, and Vi didn't think it was her place to be lecturing him on the dangers of straying far from his companion.

"We will know where we are going when we get there," she amended his comment, the smile that flirted with her muzzle growing wider. "We should go back to ...Grendel, then, yes? I would hate it if he started to worry."

We, he liked the sound of it coming from her. More than his mind could rightly explain to him. Had he planned to return to the pride she was the sort he would have brought, kindhearted and strong. As it stood she was just the sort he wanted to walk beside him now. Who knew what dangers could lie ahead in the unknowns. "This way," he told her, turning back toward the center of his circle, "He should be waiting still."

Vi didn't tail after him. Instead, she fell into step beside him. Part of her knew it was because she wanted to cushion his fall should his visions strike, and part of her didn't know why she enjoyed being near him. She couldn't explain it, and really, she didn't want to. His visions had shown her here, now, with him. There was nothing else that needed explaining, really.

Right here, right now -- in this moment in time, she was exactly where she was intended to be.
