So he had been right. This was a very treacherous spirit and had injured both Zion and Chronos in some way.

Valkon's remaining tails curled around Zion protectively at Chronos' words. There was no way she would get to the boy. And whatever injury she had done to them, Chronos deserved his revenge on her and it was easily seen he intended to get it.

His eyes narrowed at Zion's words which he could barely hear. "She killed him? He's gonna tear her apart... Don't move from behind me, Zion. Not one inch. " he whispered back, his hand reaching around to pat the boy's head. He was almost afraid to ask what else she had done. He could feel Zion trembling and knew something was really wrong here. This could explain why Zion and Chronos had been drawn together. It was safer for the both of them against her and whatever she had done. They had each other to help deal with it.

The woman trembled as he verbally lashed out at her, but showed no signs of leaving. She caught sight of Zion as he moved to the safety of the legend's tail.

"I see you found our son..."

Chronos's hand trembled just before *SNAP* the scythe in his hand shattered and returned to the dust of a rock it once was.
"He... is.... not.... your son...." His tail whipped about behind him.

The womans eyes narrowed. Her curse made her lustful for things she could not have. She had followed that in life and was cursed to continue on in death.
"My sweet come to your mother." She beckoned Zion over with her finger. "Do not listen to this man, he is obviously in need of some attention..."

Zion only hid himself more in Valkon's tails. "Y-yes uncle."

When Zion showed no sign of moving she begun to walk toward him. Chronos let out a blood curdling roar as he charged forward blindly. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HIM!" His fingers stretched as he readied to claw at the woman. With a giggle she tossed a chain his way as if it were a whip.

Valkon flinched when she called Zion her son. He carefully backed up moving the boy with him. She would never touch him. "No matter what happens, stay away from her and behind me, Zion." he whispered softly to the boy, knowing he was repeating himself, but he was sure she would continue to try to get to the boy. It was her hold over Chronos if she did.

"If I have to change, hold on tight." His hand squeezed the boy's shoulder as if making sure he was there and safe. His eyes were on her though. And Chronos.

His eyes narrowed when the scythe shattered. Chronos was furious to have done that. He continued moving backwards slowly to stay between she and Zion. "You will never touch him." the yokai stated.

She was taunting Chronos. Valkon growled out, "Chronos, careful! She's baiting you! Don't lose your head!" When the chain whipped out, he growled slightly. Hopefully Chronos would be able to avoid that.

Zion continued to nod at Valkon's instructions. He had no intentions of going out there where she could look at him. It was already obvious that she was no legend, only a mere cursed ghost while these two were far more powerful. Her strength lye in her words, her manipulation. Her words were like venom, and Chronos had been poisoned.

Valkon's words fell to deaf ears as Chronos charged forward. The chain came hard across his neck than wrapped around tightly. The woman chuckled as she gripped the chain and pulled back. She seemed confident in a quick victory. However, the smirk quickly vanished from her face as the other end of the chain suddenly fell limp.

Chronos grabbed the end of the chain and squeezed. The chain broke as if it were dirt. The tips of the broken ends were covered in rust.

"heh..hehheh...."

The short end slid from his neck as he staggered forward. His breaths became rapid. Most comparable to a dog panting after a long run. He hunched forward miraculously not falling completely on his face. Long fangs protruded from his lower and upper lip. The heavy breathing was soon joined by beastly snarls. Long claws grew from his fingers tearing through his cloves. His form than begun to grow as everything begun to change. Bones and muscles grew and rearranged before their eyes as dark red fur begun to cover his body. The watches and the Watcher's cloth fell to the floor as he now tripled in size and the cloths tore from his new monstrous body. An extra pair of horns grew in front of his natural horns, which were now tipped in black. The beast remained red with a line of long silver fur that ran down his back. His hackles were raised. The beast's nostrils flared as it let out a roar. The entire room trembled and the woman fell to her feet. His claws slammed to the ground creating almost an after shock to the roar.

His wide and burning with rage. Eyes that at his now full size were slightly larger than his son's head. His fangs were almost as long as Valkon, without counting his tails.

Time thought the room begun to distort. Moving backward and forwards in a random chaos. Zion could not feel this, but he could see it. He was too terrified by what he had just witnessed to say anything about it to his uncle however.

A faint smirk crossed his face at his friend's actions towards the chain. It had aged and fallen apart. "Nicely done, Chronos," he commented softly trying not to distract him.

But when the change began, his jaw dropped open and his eyes opened wide. "Sh... Crap! " he managed to say remembering the child behind him. A sudden whoozy sensation passed over him and he blinked, shaking his head to clear it several times. His own body began to shift uneasily and he gasped as everything was distorted and changed around him. He could barely tell that Zion was behind him, a slight cold sensation that most ghosts left behind.

Just as he was trying to move, the world seemed to right itself. But as his pants began to slide downwards, he glanced down to see human feet sticking out of the legs. His jaw dropped open once more as he grabbed for the pants with his free hand. He stared at his fingers and body as he tried to tighten the belt to hold the clothing up. They were far too large. Shivering he realized he could feel the cold air in the castle.

"Why would I...?" he started, then gasped in disbelief. He could feel- actually feel again. And his tails were gone. Zion would be exposed if he moved.

It hit him like a ton of bricks and his stomach rolled at the thought. He was living again. How was he supposed to help Chronos and Zion like this? Chronos must be able to affect a certain area around him. They would have to move further away and without catching his attention.

"Crap! And Crap again!" he growled. "He's turned me human once more. Zion, we need to back up, but stay behind me anyhow. I have to get out of his area of affect." It occurred to him that it might have affected the boy too and turned slightly to see. Zion looked the same except now his hand went through the boy's body, but it was not hard to see that he and Zion were now about the same size. Nowhere for the boy to really hide if he moved much. His attention returned to the two in front of them.

"It doesn't matter except that we need to back up more. Slowly so we don't distract him. It'll turn me back if I get out of his area of effect." He stated the thought clearly though he was unsure that would happen. It was the best guess he had. Of course, moving at all could distract Chronos, but he figured he had died once already. He'd survive it again.

(( Yes, I got lazy on my color coding. I figured why not since it's only Valkon here. LOL ))

The woman scrambled to her feet as quickly as she could. Even before she was fully standing she was lashing her chains out at the werefox in front of her. The chains as before only burst in a plume of rust as they came into contact. On the opposite end of the chains the reforged giving her an endless supply of her burden. She was cursed for eternity and those chains were a symbol of it. Her ghostly form distorted as she too was being pulled backward in time. However it was not so intense to pull her back into life. Back to a time when her ghostly head was not attached to the ghostly body as was the cause of her death, beheading.

Chronos snarled as the chains did nothing. His eyed didn't even blink as the chains struck. When the woman finally figured out it was pointless he let out another room shaking roar. His claws scratched the ground before he charged forward at the woman. The ground shook as his movements. (Thankfully the castle was sturdy enough to endure this) No more than two bounds and he was ready to strike at the woman. His claws extend than thrust forward at the woman holding her own head.

Zion watched as Valkon changed into something completely different. It was odd that he was still able to see the ghostling in his human form, it never occurred to him his runes were to blame. He looked back at the once sided battle. The time was different everywhere, especially where they were standing, it seemed to be moving in reverse the most here.
"There, time is going forward the most." Zion pointed to the area Chronos was previously standing in. "The further back the faster in the opposite direction it goes.... some spots don't move at all. But its always moving. no place is staying the same for long.."

He watched the cartoon looking wind wisps flowing about the room like a terrible storm. Even he wasn't sure how he knew what they were, it was a strange gut feeling.

Valkon nearly laughed when she was reverted, losing her head. It served her right, but the problem became how to get himself back to where he was. If Chronos needed him, there was little he could do.

Although from appearances, the werefox did not need his aide. Not at all. Her chains did nothing to him and that seemed to be all she had.

When Zion said there was a place that he could age back, he nodded. It had stung to be living and breathing once more. Not all physical either. "We are going to move with that part of the distortion, Zion, so stay with me. It appears you are unaffected, but I'm not. You will have to tell me when it shifts away from us."

Moving and trying to make sure that Zion stayed with him, Valkon crept over to the area indicated. It stung as he began to change back to his former self, his lungs starving for air one moment and unmoving the next. A chill crossed over him, but he grit his teeth and let death take him again. After a long moment, he stopped breathing and became who he was before. Instead of flesh and bone, he was again ghostling, his tails curled around Zion again. Of course now his belt was too tight and he had to adjust it back to normal, but at least his clothing fit once more.

Shaking himself a bit, he sighed. "That's much better. It stung but it happened. Just glad I'm back to normal now. I was just a kid when I died, Zion. I need to stay this way to help your dad and protect you." He watched Chronos. They were fully behind him now and both between her and Zion. "Keep an eye out on when we need to move, Zion. I can't see any of this and you can."

Thankfully Hawke was elsewhere and so was Tai. It would be worse trying to keep track of more than just Zion in this mess. Strangely he wondered if Chronos had any clue what he had just turned into. Probably not. It had been like protection mode kicked in laced with hatred and fury aimed at her. Valkon had figured some of this out now, but Chronos would have to confirm it for him.

This was the woman who had been Chronos lover. And obviously Zion's mother in life. Something had happened that killed Chronos and Zion both. She seemed to have no remorse for it and from her actions, he was certain she had caused it. Zion had indicated she killed him. Had she killed Zion also? He'd have been a babe- a child. If that was so, then it was no wonder Chronos was furious.

Either way, he wondered if Chronos could actually control himself or if he would be aiming for them next. Somehow he doubted that he would have to protect himself or Zion from Chronos even if uncontrollable. They were friends- more importantly they were family and had been through a great deal together. That would win out in the end. Valkon was certain.

The woman was fortunate enough to just barely roll out of the way of the claws. She laughed confident she had avoided fate. The time around her continued to reverse until she shared the same fate as Valkon. She was once again that beautiful queen with no rival in beauty. The chains remained tangled about her body however as this curse could not be lifted by time alone.

"That body suits you more-" Her mocking chuckle was abruptly cut off as the other paw slashed at her, knocking her hard against the wall.

Chronos snorted at the woman as she fell to the floor completely frozen in time. He let out triumphant roar that shook the room. This time fragments of the ceiling fell.

Zion kept as close as possible, one may think that the two were connected.

"O-okay." he nodded as he mumbled. Zion felt a great deal more secure when Valkon reverted back to his legend form. The tails made for a great hiding place.

"It's normal over there......!" He started to point to the wall opposite Chronos and the woman until bits of the ceiling begun to crumble. "UNCLE!" His hand quickly moved to Valkon's tail as he tugged backwards in hopes to pull him away from the stones.

Chronos' ears twitched before he looked away from the time frozen woman to Valkon and Zion. His upper lip curled as his focused shifted from Valkon to Zion and back to Valkon. Immediately his ears docked as he growled aggressively at the yokai. His back turned completely on his previous prey to face his new target.

Valkon's eyes narrowed as she changed back to what she was when she first appeared. He had no doubts though that Chronos could not handle her. She was still chained and somehow Valkon suspected she would always be so.

Valkon started to move where Zion indicated but then was pulled backwards by the boy as the ceiling began to crumble. "We still need to move in tha... " he began but then noticed the glare in Chronos' eyes. "Um Chronos, old buddy.. I hate to say this but I don't like that gleam in your eyes. I'm not the enemy here..."

Holding his hands up palms facing Chronos, he slowly backed in the direction indicated even though he could not see where Zion was leading him. "Just keep me this age, Zion, okay? I'm not sure... but I think your dad is about to bite me."

"Chronos.. are you in there?' he asked, trying to figure out what to do next. "Zion, I'm not sure what is wrong with him? Can you see anything about your dad other than the time shifts?"

Chronos snapped at the air as he prowled forward. His claws gripped at the ground with each heavy step he took. By the look in his eyes Valkon's 'friend' was lost to the beast. His crimson eyes still burned with a tremendous rage. Every muscle in his body tensed as he prepared to attack. His maw hung slightly ajar so his new target could see every sharp pearly white tooth. Drool poured from his mouth only adding to the wild and out of control appearance. It was quite a change from how he usually carried himself with a dignified air.

Zion kept a tight grip on Valkon's tail. In fact he used that grip to guide him in the right time rifts. "He's very angry...I can't see anything but rage." Zion shook his head. "DA! DON'T HURT UNCLE!" he shouted and continued to tug.

"Is not a wild animal's own flesh and blood more important to him than all else? Rage only narrows one's view, not blind him completely..." A familiar wise voice echoed behind Valkon. Zion seemed unable to hear the Watcher and continued to pull on Valkon's tail.

Valkon blinked nearly whirling around but dared not to turn around. The action might make Chronos attack. He listened to the words replaying them over in his mind. A wild animal's own flesh and blood?

Chronos was the wild animal. Most definitely. So his own flesh... ? His son?!!! Zion!

"Zion, you trust me, right? I need you to do something for me." Valkon said softly as he continued. "Step out here between your father and I. He thinks I'm like her. I don't think he will calm down until he is certain you are safe. Let him see that you are safe."

"I promise. You will not get hurt, but I think it's the only way to get your father to change back. Don't worry about her. She's out for now. And she won't be able to do anything unless your dad lets her. And I'll be between you and her if she should wake up."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:16 pm

"Uh, o-okay." Zion inched around the legend without question. with Valkon's tail still in hand until be made it directly in between the two. He outstretched his hands toward his father. The whole time he tried to think of ways to get an angry animal to think he's safe. Zion had never dealt with anything like this before. The only thing he could think of was to smile, which he managed surprisingly. He was in high hopes the beast couldn't tell the difference between a forced smile and a natural one.

Chronos' fur bristled when Zion moved still holding the tail. His focus rapidly shifted between the two beings in front of him as he approached slowly.
He lowered his chin to the ground only inches in front of Zion. The majority of his focus remained on Valkon still, waiting for any movements that were 'unwanted.'

Valkon did not move an inch. He remained where he was, letting Zion slip out in front of him. From the corner of his eye he kept a watch on her. Zion would be safe as he had promised if he had to shove himself between them. The yokai hoped the distortion remained on her until Chronos returned to his senses.

His hands were still raised up so that Chronos could easily see he intended no harm. "Chronos," he said softly. "We really need you to come back. Zion is safe. You made sure of that."

Whether his words would work or not, he did not know. "Just keep petting and talking to him, Zion. He's just trying to protect you from whatever he feels is dangerous. And in his state of mind, that's everything between you and he."

He did not even look for Watcher. He knew he was not there, but it was annoying that he knew what was going on. Valkon would really have to come up with something for the old busybody.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:56 pm

Zion reached forward and pat his father's nose. An odd concept, but he was starting to understand what Valkon was talking about.

"It's okay Da, I'm okay." He moved his hand as best he could against the bridge of the beast's nose, working around the large tooth, until his hand couldn't reach upward anymore. Than he would repeat the process. "Thank you Da...."

"Uncle... this might sound weird, but, touch the tip of my horn, where the last rune is... It'll help with the time. It's changing again..." He whispered back to Valkon hoping he could hear and that it did not disturb Chronos. Zion would have to later tell him how that idea came about.

A loud 'purr' reverberated deep within Chronos' throat. His tail ceased whipping about and continued to move about in a slow rhythmic motion. His ears perked forward. Finally he seemed to calm down dramatically, however there were no signs of him reverting back to his normal form.

"His task is not completed..." The watcher spoke again to Valkon only.

Chronos slid his and palm upward near Zion before giving him a soft nudge. Zion would wait for for Valkon before moving.

Valkon let his breath out slowly in relief when Chronos seemed to be soothed by his son. He listened while Zion spoke and then slowly did as the boy requested. He put his hand up, fingertip touching the tip of Zion's horn at the last rune as indicated. Whatever the boy had planned, he hoped it really worked and he left his hand there until whatever it was happened.

At the sound of Watcher's voice, Valkon nearly sighed. "Zion, I'm not sure what it is that Chronos needs to do, but he's not done. I don't think he can change back until he is. Maybe he needs to do something with those watches. I'm really not sure what but see if he reacts to them."

"And I don't think he could hurt you even in this form. You are his son and this is about protection." Valkon replied softly. "Or maybe it's because he lost his scythe.." Finally he said to the air knowing Watcher was listening if he was talking, "I'm grasping at straws here."
