Tony shook his head.
"Well, it's nothing I can't figure out, I think. Still, the place is nice, regardless of that particular bit of carpet." He grinned, still looking excited. He wasn't really thinking in terms of 'if I buy it' or 'when we move' any more. Seeing this place, imagining life outside of his crummy apartment in that terrible area of town, made him want to buy the place right then and there.
Anyway, it would be better for Nathan, in the long run. It wasn't just for him, just because he hated his old apartment now. He had been there too long, sure, but it was also too small for the two of them. And Dogby, an extra charge to keep the pet, and no room for her to really play. Corgi's were small, and he found they acted rather a lot like lap cats, but she still deserved a yard and a street he didn't feel like he was going to get shanked on for walks.
"I think I'll go pick up one of the fliers, then," he said, looking at her and nodding his head. "This place is... really great. And you've been a wonderful guide, thank you very much! I think I'll have to tell the Realtor that you might have done her job for her." He laughed.

"Oh, god," said Tallulah, blushing a furious shade a red. She looked down, focusing on navigating the stairs so that Tony couldn't see her expression. "Better not, you'll get me in trouble."
Even if the realtor probably owed her a cut, because she was pretty sure she'd just made a sale. They reached the front door, and Tallulah stuck her hand out to shake. "Well, Mr. Darrow. It was good to meet you. And. Um."
She looked down at the very rambunctious puppy who was sitting uncharacteristically un-rambunctiously beside her master. "Dogby."
Tallulah grinned and crouched in front of the corgi. She stuck out a hand. "Shake, girl!"

Tony followed after her, chuckling but not pushing the subject. He didn't want to embarrass her, even if she had rather sold him on the place. Let the Realtor think they were making a sale when he was already well decided.
Tony smiled, taking her hand and shaking it vigorously.
"Very nice to meet you. And thank you again, for the tour. And for picking Dogby out of the snow before." He grinned, looking down at the suspiciously well behaved corgi, who looked up at him cutely. He frowned at her, silently telling her he was on to her and she waggled her stump of a tail.
She looked at Tallulah when she crouched down, though the dog missed the point of the hand being stuck out entirely. She lunged forward and head but the hand for a pet, then just bounced at Tallulah's face to lick her exuberantly.
"No, Dogby!" Tony yelped, though he was laughing.

Tallulah was a lover of all creatures great and small, and happy enough to let the dog lick her for a bit. When she decided there'd been enough of that silliness, and said sternly to the dog, "We're going to have to work on that one," wiped her face on her sleeve, and got to her feet.
"No problem!" she said to Tony, and hopped down the porch steps. "I'm sorry, I've got to go," she added, stepping tentatively into the snow. "I have an essay to finish. High school, you know?"
She made a face like this was a terrible fate. In truth, Tallulah rather liked school. But she had to put on this face for the heck of it. "See you around!" she waved, heading off.

Dogby barked lightly in response, though she wasn't agreeing to work on licking faces. She thought she had that rather well mastered at this point, though she didn't understand either concept anyway. She let her tongue roll out of her mouth, looking up at Tallulah and then at Tony, then back again.
"I understand! Good luck on the essay," Tony said, letting her step out before scooping Dogby up and carrying her back to the car. He got her situated in the passenger seat, though of course by the time he walked around the car to get to the driver's side she was sitting there.
She barked and he scooted her back to the other seat.
Now to go home, figure out his finances, make a call- oh. He got out of the car and got one of the fliers he had almost forgotten, then returned and had to push Dogby back over to the passenger seat again. Now he was ready to go back to that awful apartment.
And start thinking about how to tell Nathan about the move.
