Mina watched him as he looked at the lake, he seemed like he was zoning out. She looked at the blossoms as he spoke again, it was a nice accident in finding this place. The lake was very beautiful with all the delicate Lotus blossoms that floated on it's surface.

"Oh, that makes sense!" She felt stupid that she hadn't thought about it. She watched as he went to go get a towel. "I still don't know how to get to where I was supposed to go." She frowned and twiddled her thumbs. "I get lost so easily here, it's very different from London."

It took a while before Lien Si reemerged with towels and a simple white robe, all of which he piled onto the stone table unceremoniously. Pulling out a thick towel from the layers of fabric he stood looking at Mina wondering what the proper etiquette would be before simply handing it to the girl. Next he picked out the robe, which was both too big and quite wrinkled from lack of care. This he laid out neatly, meaning to offer it as a change of clothes should she need it. After replacing the little bottle back in his sleeve, he sat back down to watch Mina, his head propped up with both hands.

"Being lost is only a matter of perspective," He said suddenly, "You're only lost if you think there's a 'correct way' to go somewhere."

Mina wondered about the boy, he was acting as if he had never seen a girl before. She wrapped up in the towel and wiped most of the melted snow off herself. She wasn't sure about changing into the robe yet . "How long have you been here? Thank you for the towel too." She was confused a little bit, the boy spoke as if he was much older than he looked. She looked back at the one lotus that she could have reached. It was so pretty, but inside she felt like it was lonely in a way.

She turned back to the boy and bit her lip a little before she would try to speak a little Chinese. "Why are the lotuses still around in the cold? Don't they get cold and lonely floating out in the lake?" She wanted to learn a little more about this place but she wasn't sure if she could pull together enough Chinese.

Lien Si contemplated the notion of time, wondering exactly how long he has been here. Before he came to a conclusion however, Mina had proposed a second, more direct question, and the child chose to answer that one first. He sat up slightly, returning his gaze to the waters and the blossoms upon it.

"These are flowers of illusion, empty blossoms of hope, wishes, and regrets. Dreams of the living, and of the deceased." Lien Si pushed himself off the table and made his way to the railing, leaning over to dip his finger tips across the surface of the lake. "Seasonal changes and temperature mean nothing to them, for in this form, they cannot feel it. But perhaps you are right," turning around to face the girl he said, with a faint but sad smile on his lips, "It does get lonely waiting for the right person to come find you."

A pause.

"Would you like to take one with you?"

Mina watched him as he got closer to the lake, his explanation of the lotuses seemed odd to her. She thought about it a little more and realized that it made sense in a way. She looked at him as he asked her about the lotus, she wanted one but she was nervous about asking. She rubbed her arm a little and thought about it.

" I really would like to bring one home but, I'm not sure how to take care of one though." She looked past the boy at the lotuses for a moment. " I mean it would be alright to take one though? Would it be ok outside of this place?"

Lien Si smiled upon hearing her concern, what a kind and warm soul she possessed.

"In the care of a person like you, there's no need to worry." He pushed himself up to sit on the railing before continuing, "Being dream lotuses, they do not need soil nor water nor light--all they need is a bit of incense burned in its name and your devotion. As long as you wish for it, the lotus will stay in bloom, and perhaps one day, will fulfill whatever wish you may have in return."

The child spoke softly, slowly, melodically. With a sweeping motion he gestured toward the lake, the blossoms, and the lights, "If you can take it, it is yours."

Mina looked at him and smiled, she nodded and stood up. She picked up the robe and held it under her arm as she walked towards the lake slowly. She looked for the one lotus she had seen earlier, something about that one felt right to her. She sqatted down and leaned foward over the lake a bit, trying not to fall in as she stretched out for the green lotus bobbing on top of the lake.

"Almost there." She grabbed it carefully and pulled it out of the water, placing it in the robe that the boy had given him. She looked at it curiously and smiled. "It's so pretty..." She looked up at the boy for a moment as she smiled. "I'll take extra special care of it."
