Since his muscles froze up and he was unable to move, the thunderbolt struck true. The Pokemon letting out a raspy cry, but the attack also managed to jolt him literally into moving. "Koooal Koal!"
"Vee vee!" Byakko cheered for her teammate as Nikki issued the next command. "Now, ember!" It seemed fairly clear to her that the Pikachu had the upper hand this time, but it wouldn't leave this battle unscathed if she had anything to say about it. Honu was still new and needed more training.
A spray of burning coals shot from the Torkoal's mouth, raining down toward the electric type.

Unfortunately for Zeus he was still close to the Torkoal, and because of his visibility still being impaired from the earlier smokescreen he didn't see the ember attack until it was nearly upon him. He had just enough time to turn so it wouldn't hit him right in the face, so the attack hit him full on the back. He hissed with pain as his ears flicked back against his head, his fur singed and smoking slightly. His instincts to act of his own accord were inching their way back into his mind and caused him to jump away to put some distance between himself and the To--
"Zeus," Claire said in a firm voice, obviously displeased with this behavior. She was glad he had the sense to not be a sitting duck, but he was moving in the opposite direction she wanted him to go in. "Back, another Thunderbolt."
The Pikachu immediately halted at hearing his name, then the next word told him which way to go - back towards the Torkoal. So, with a growl, he immediately turned and raced back towards Honu with his cheeks sparking before stopping near the fire-type, and immediately launched another electric attack at his target.

Claire had an interesting strategy, although it seemed the Pikachu had other ideas, it at least listened to her. She had a decent control of her Pokemon which was admirable, considering a lot of Rockets didn't from what she'd seen.
Honu ducked his head and readied himself as the Pikachu came back for another round. He knew what to expect this time, thus it was much easier to dodge the attack in the midst of the smoke cloud.
"Now, use Fire Spin while its close!" Nikki called to the fire type, who obediently belched out a stream of flames which were intended to trap the Pikachu.

Zeus paused to try and figure out if his attack had struck his target or not, and, taking his trainer's prior instructions further he dashed towards the Torkoal once more. A sudden burst of flame that quickly wrapped in a circle around him caused him to stop dead in his tracks with a "chu!" of surprise, trapping him within the thin funnel of fire. He gritted his teeth, ignoring the heat and the pain it caused as it singed various parts of his body, most often his tail.
Claire seemed wholly unconcerned by this, in fact she even seemed to expect it. It would be interesting to see how being trapped in a flaming vortex would affect his ranged attacks. "Thunderbolt through it," she called, and the Pikachu obeyed. He stayed there for a few extra moments, giving himself a little more time to charge up and shoot a powerful bolt of electricity through the flames. His idea for this was to compensate for any power that may be lost from the attack when it passed through the fire that danced around him.

As the fire spin continued to singe the Pikachu, the Torkoal took another hit from the electric mouse. "KOAL!" It barked out in pain, now teetering on the edge of consciousness. Nikki frowned slightly as she knew her Pokemon was close to fainting, butt here was no helping. It had been expected since he was her newest addition. Still this was some much needed practice for the flame tortoise.
"Smokescreen," she called out, planning to set the stage more favorably for the next Pokemon before this one was down and out. Again smoke poured from Honu's mouth, nostrils, and shell, filling the area with an inky almost choking blackness while the fire spin continued to do its damage.

The artificial shiny Pikachu smirked as he heard the Torkoal's cry, then flinched as he was singed again. Stupid fire attacks...
"Thunderbolt again," Claire commanded, tucking a lock of dark hair behind her ear.
Zeus didn't need to be told twice. He didn't need to look to see where his opponent was, since he could barely see through the flames anyway, but the smoke didn't help things. The Torkoal's cry helped him figure out the general area he was in, or at least the direction, so he loosed another bolt of electricity towards the fire-type.

The thunderbolt plunged into the black smoke, and for a moment.. it seemed as if it didn't hit anything. That is until there was a dull thud as Honu collapsed. A flash of light signaled the Pokemon's return, as Nikki considered her next one. She started to reach for a ball, but then Byakko managed to squirm out of her arms and jump onto the ground.
"Vee! Eevee!" She barked in challenge, wanting to be the one to face the Pikachu next. "Byakko!" Nikki reprimaned, until the white Eevee turned a stubborn yet pleading face to her trainer. She wanted to battle and prove herself! She could do this.
"Fine... all right," Nikki relented after a moment. "Get in there and hit it with a sand attack." "Vee!" The white Eevee cheerfully said back, before darting towards the Pikachu and sending a spray of sand in his direction.

The fiery vortex that whirled around the electric-type finally diminished before it disappeared altogether, and Zeus sighed in relief. And suddenly there was a white ball of fur coming towards him, then sand - he had enough time to shut his eyes before being sprayed with the hot sand, and he stumbled back with a sharp "chuu!" He desperately pawed at his face, trying to get rid of it, but the heat of the fire spin had made him sweat and the sand was proving extremely difficult to get off. As if all the smokescreens weren't bad enough, now he could hardly open his eyes. "Pika!" He cried in a distressed tone, unsure of what to do if he couldn't even see to attack.
"You have ears," his trainer said as her brow furrowed at his unnecessary distress. "Use them. Thunder wave."
The Pikachu growled - he would have greatly preferred if she could help with the sand stuck to his face, but she had shot down any hope he had for that. Instead, he kept his eyes shut tightly to avoid the sand actually touching his eyes, and perked his ears up to try and hear where his opponent was before dispersing small electric shocks in the area in front of him in the hopes that he might hit the Eevee.

The little white Eevee bounded away from the electrical waves, managing to avoid them as she dove into the still lingering smog. Despite her bright white coloring, the accuracy lowering attacks were doing their job. Honu having paved the way for Byakko and making it easier for her to evade.
"Lower its defense with a tail whip!" Nikki called out, having lowered the parasol she was holding for the Eevee's benefit. Darkfeather watched the battle with little interest. If he wasn't involved, he didn't really care about it.
Hopping closer to the Pikachu, she turned around and wiggled her bum in the air. White fluffy tail waving back and forth at the electric mouse.

"Thunderbolt," the young woman commanded of her Pikachu.
Zeus managed to peek through an eye and see a blur of white wiggling in front of him. Indignant, he growled before loosing another Thunderbolt towards the white Eevee, hoping he could hit her despite the sand and smog that clouded his vision so.

"VEE!" Yelped the Eevee as the thunderbolt managed to hit. Just because the Pikachu's accuracy was low, didn't mean attacks wouldn't hit at all.
Nikki looked on in concern, but Byakko managed to pick herself up and shake off. It seemed she was able to keep going. The little white fluffy Pokemon being determined to prove herself.
"Tackle!" Was Nikki's next command, which resulted in the albino throwing herself at the Pikachu.

Claire leaned her weight onto her left foot, watching the battle with interest. "Strength," was the next command she called out to the Pikachu.
Ah - Zeus knew exactly what that meant. He braced himself for the Eevee's attack, and once it hit he rolled over with a squeal. He was on his feet again in an instant and immediately jumped forward to where the attack was struck, with every intention of delivering a powerful blow in the shape of a punch from his paw. If he could manage to hit his opponent, that is - the sand was still clinging to his face and that continued to inhibit his vision.

When Zeus made the attack, the Eevee was suddenly gone, having evaded once more.
"Again!" Nikki called from the sidelines. It was certainly curious that Clair had put an HM move on the Pikachu. Not something that you typically saw since they couldn't be removed easily.
Again the Eevee shot out of the smoke and aimed to bash in the the yellow rodent yet again.

Zeus' fist slammed into the sand and he growled in frustration, ears flicking back, and Claire's eyes narrowed slightly. The Torkoal hadn't done a great deal of damage to the Pikachu, but he was beginning to wear down. She knew he would show no signs of weakening if he could help it, but he was certainly fine for the time being. "Thunderbolt." She had considered Thunderwave, but preferred to strike at the Eevee directly. Besides, Zeus' ability could kick in. Not that she had much faith in those, though - she would prefer using a paralyzing attack to relying on an ability that seemed to occur due to chance.
The electric-type stumbled backwards, ears flicking about as he tried to hear from which direction Byakko was coming from. Then he suddenly darted forward, managing to escape the brunt of the attack but the white furry pokemon managed to collide with his hip, sending Zeus sprawling onto the sand with another growl. He immediately jumped up and loosed another powerful bolt of electricity towards the Eevee.

Again the attack proved to not be very accurate as the Eevee once again managed to dodge. Nikki knew that Byakko wasn't a particularly strong Pokemon, but perhaps this way she might be able to stand a chance. If her luck held out that is.
"Keep at it!" Nikki called once again. Persistence was the key here.
Flattening her ears back, Byakko charged through Honu's smokescreens once again, and lept out at the Pikachu in yet another Tackle attack.
