Anput flicked her hair back over one shoulder, then went back to staring out the window of the car.

"It'll be great. You'll make lots of new friends, I'm sure of it, honey!"
Her mother had a false, cheery voice, the one parents use when they tell you that the doctor is going to give you a shot, but it won't hurt. Anput just snorted and didn't say anything. She'd already had her meltdown when they moved from Colchester, and that hadn't done anything except get her grounded for a month.

They came to a stop in front of the school's entrance. Anput glared at it, mentally berating it for being a new school and not being her beloved Colchester High School. "Alright, dearie, we're here. Have a good day at school, alright?"

"Good. Right." With that, she reluctantly opened the car door and got out, pulling her backpack out and slinging it over one shoulder. Her mother waved, then drove off, leaving Anput standing alone in front of Osiris Academy. Everywhere she looked, it was the same uniform. Pleated skirts for the girls, long pants for the guys, and blazers and ties for both. She wore it too, and despised it. Anput was determined to hate everything about this school.

With a sigh, she straightened her shoulders and began walking through the students.

Why me? Why did I have to leave home? Her gloomy thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a boy landing directly in front of her, having just leaped out of the tree. She gave a small yelp, but he didn't even acknowledge her. He just ambled off, seeming to be in his own world.

"He could have at least apologized," she grumbled, but only she heard herself. No way was she going to draw attention to herself on her first day.

Anput pulled out a wrinkled piece of paper from her blazer pocket and opened it, doing her best to smooth it out. It was her schedule and her map. She'd already circled on the map where her classes were, and had a pretty good idea of where to go.

She slipped into her homeroom seat just as the bell rang and dropped her backpack on the floor. The students were noisy, chattering amongst themselves and relating their vacation stories. Anput glanced around, intrigued in spite of herself.

With a start, she realized the boy who'd jumped out of the tree almost on top of her was sitting right next to her by the window. He didn't notice her, since he was staring absently out of it. She made a face at him, but turned quickly forward as the teacher came in and started taking roll. Anput zoned out when he began making a speech about how glad he was to see them all back and thought about her best friend back home. They'd had a tearful parting and had promised to text often. That thought reminded her to pull out her cell phone and check. She wasn't paying the least bit of attention to her surroundings any more.

"Miss Neaht? Miss Neaht? MISS NEAHT!"

She snapped her gaze up with a squeak, finding herself at the center of attention of everyone in the class room. Titters ran among the students, and she blushed furiously.

"Ah, yes?"

The teacher glared at her. "Cell phones aren't permitted to be out during class, Miss Neaht. Since you are new, I will let you off with a warning. Put it away, then stand up and introduce yourself."

Anput fumbled with her cell phone, almost dropping it in her nervousness. Finally, it was safely back in her backpack, and she stood, nervously straightening her skirt.

"Um, um, my name's Anput Neaht, and, and..." She happened to glance at the boy who sat next to her and totally blanked out. He was looking at her, and something about his gaze was riveting. It was like he was looking right into her mercilessly. His eyes were unnerving, and it wasn't doing any good for Anput's confidence. She broke eye contact and blurted, "And I don't want to be here!"

The whole class burst out laughing and she dropped back into her seat, hands covering her red face. The teacher looked furious as he tried to bring some semblance of order back to the class. Meanwhile, Anput's thoughts were in a whirl. s**t, s**t, s**t, why on Earth did I say that?

¤Tarik Akil Mubarak¤
««----<¦ Known as ¦>----»»
*Richard Mason*

Tarik let his hands drop to his sides when the bell rang. He heard someone finally sit next to him; but didn't turn to look who it was. The person might start chatting him up for some reason. Actually, it was surprising that no one came up to talk to him since his friend left the room. Then again, his friends knew not to bother him at certain times and others were too shy to talk to him. When he heard the teacher come in, Tarik swung his legs carefully off the desk and sat up a bit in his chair. He didn't feel like getting yelled at for how he was sitting today.

"Richard Mason," the teacher called out.

Tarik raised his hand halfway before correcting the guy. "It's Rick," he replied in an even tone before leaning forward. His chin was now resting in the palm of his hand: being held up the elbow that sat on the desk. The teacher repeated the fake nickname as he wrote something on his paper.

Soon after, he called out a name the brunette never heard before. Not only that, it sounded a lot like who he might be waiting for. After all, it was definitely Egyptian. Dark eyes shifted to look at the one sitting next to him. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the person that wasn't addressing the teacher was sitting right next to him. Tarik was only half paying attention as he gazed at the girl. Was she really here? Sitting right next to him in homeroom? Things would be interesting indeed. Then again, he could be completely mistaken. It's not like he had a sixth sense for this kind of thing. If he did, he would have felt some kind of pull as soon as she sat down. Maybe she hasn't really awakened enough to make that happen. Ah well, only time will tell.

Tarik let a small smile grow on his face when she looked at him. When their eyes locked for that brief moment; that was when he felt something. He couldn't explain it, but now he really felt like she was the one he was waiting for. Still, he can't be jumping the gun and giving himself away. It was a bit odd that she chose to look at him as she fumbled with her introduction. It probably wasn't because of his heartthrob status; after all, she just started going to school here. It was highly unlikely that they met before now.

The class burst out laughing when she continued her awkward introduction; but he didn't laugh. Instead, his smile grew as he lifted his head from his hand while letting his arm fall to his desk with a soft thump. His eyes no longer rested on her. She didn't need an extra set staring at her as she hid in embarrassment. It wasn't until their classmates calmed down, but weren't completely silent, that he spoke up loud enough for her to hear him. Tarik definitely wasn't being loud enough for the teacher to catch what was being said though. "I doubt anyone wants to be here...at least you were honest and didn't try to sugarcoat anything." He glanced at her just long enough to give her a soft smile after he finished what he was saying.

Usually, people introduced themselves and added pointless dribble that covered up any of their insecurities or individuality. There was no need for such things. They were just greetings molded to fit into what is acceptable in society. At least she broke out of that mold a bit: even if it wasn't intentional. After all, it was obvious that she was nervous and so she might not have said something like that under normal circumstances.

The teacher finally got the class to calm down so he started the normal beginning of the school year speech. Unfortunately, he forgot to assign someone to help the new girl out. It was also possible that he subconsciously didn't mention it as a slight punishment for her actions. Who knows really. It was no surprise that the teacher stated how the seats that they picked this morning were now theirs for the rest of the year. Tarik knew that was going to happen: that's why he sat where he did. Being next to the door was both a pleasant distraction and an opportunity to catch any activity that might be good to know about.

It didn't take long for homeroom to finish. As soon as it was over, he stood up and collected his things. Tarik made no effort to talk to the new girl again. Even though he had the urge to know more about her as soon as possible, it would have been a bit out of character if he spoke to her right now. The bad thing about being somewhat popular; was the fact that there was almost always someone watching you. If he were to speak to her first at this point, some insane rumor about him liking her might start and soon be blown out of proportion. He normally would mind, but in this case it was different. If the a-hole guard knew who she was and heard a rumor like that: they could become suspicious of him. That was not something he needed.

Tarik walked out of the room at a comfortable pace. There was no need to rush or to go slower than normal. He made his way down the hall until he arrived at his destination. The brunette glanced around until his eyes spotted a friend of his. Tarik made his way over when his friend waved him over. The guy mentioned something about how it was cool that they were both in the same class: among other things. The brunette gave an appropriate response as he sat in the chair beside him. He was sitting in the second row closest to the door in the second to last seat. Now he just had to wait for his Literature class to start.

Anput peeked out from her hands at the voice of her neighbor, but couldn't summon up the courage to say anything. After that whole embarrassment, even that little bit of encouragement wasn't helpful. Fortunately, he turned away, allowing her to glance at him. Now that his gaze wasn't on her, she was able to look at him better. When she did, she blushed again. He was so good-looking and she'd made a complete fool out of herself in front of him. Once again, she found herself wishing for home and her old school.

The bell rang and she headed out to her next class. It was trigonometry, which was a bore, but at least she could do it without much fuss. The equations would be so complex that, hopefully, the other students wouldn't have time to giggle over her faux pas of the morning.

Trig went swimmingly. The only odd thing was a boy in a blue uniform, standing out from the dark reds and blacks of the other uniforms like a swan among ducks. He had a sort of dreamy expression on his face, with his eyes half-closed, and was also very good-looking. Anput was starting to get the feeling that she'd enrolled in a school for beautiful people.

Soon enough, it was over, and she was headed to Physics. Her father insisted on high-level math and science courses, even though she was more comfortable with history and art. Actually, she was good at Physics, but only because she studied it like a fiend and spent hours memorizing things. In this class, there was also another person in a blue uniform, this time a girl. She was bouncy and cheerful, joking with the teacher and her fellow students.

They were assigned a lab, which was odd to her, seeing as it was the first day of school. Fortunately, it was just a safety review of how to conduct one's self in the lab during experiments. It required a partner and answers to questions the teacher handed out. She glanced around shyly, wondering how the hell she would work up the nerve to ask someone to be her partner.

¤Tarik Akil Mubarak¤
««----<¦ Known as ¦>----»»
*Richard Mason*

Tarik had an uneventful first period. Before he knew it he was on his way to his second class: Physics. Of course he got distracted by a couple people on the way and was the last one to arrive. The first person he noticed was the bubbly Azure Guard member. "Tch," was the only noise that slipped from his mouth as he looked away from the girl. Those people were utterly annoying: the a-hole guard. Why was she in this class anyway? Wasn't she a junior or something? Either she likes the subject or is super smart. Then again, she could have been forced for some reason. Either way, it's not like she had to take this class. She could have picked Chemistry instead: most people her age opted for that over Physics. Of course he took Chemistry last year. This class was just extra for him.

Soon after, Tarik noticed that his other half was also in this class. 'Oh great,' he uttered to himself. This was a horrible situation. Assuming that the new girl was in fact his other half; it would be even more complicated to interact with her with that other girl in their class. As long as he acted normal it should be fine; but still. How annoying. Even so, he walked up behind her and tapped her shoulder gently to get her attention. "Fancy seeing you here..." he flashed a smile for a brief moment before continuing, "getting used to things yet?" It wasn't long after he asked that the bell rang and people rushed to their seats. She had plenty of time to give a short response, but that's about it.

Tarik sighed when he realized that they had to form a two person group to do a silly lab introduction. Of course it crossed his mind to partner with the new girl; after all, it would give them excuses to meet up. Greeting her like he did at the beginning of class wasn't abnormal; but asking anyone to be his partner was definitely out of the ordinary. He didn't know how much the guard really knew about him; but being one of the heartthrobs of the school was not going to let him do whatever he wanted.

Before he could even decide what action to take; he was swarmed by a group of people that wanted to be his lab partner. Tarik sighed softly to himself. Of course the people crowding him didn't notice in the slightest. His eyes glanced around the room before they landed on a friend of his that seemed distracted with something. Dark blue (so they seemed to look at the moment) orbs shifted to follow his graze. A smile crept onto his face when he found himself looking at the new girl. "Hey Greg!" Tarik called out as he raised his arm above the crowd. The people around him glanced at the guy before continuing their begging tactics. It was pathetic really. The brunette turned his attention back to the people around him: most of them being girls. "I would love to partner with all of you, but I promised that I would help him with this class." It wasn't entirely true but not a lie either. The fact of the matter was that he did say he would help the guy with math and science when he needed it. He knew that this class would be hard for Greg. It was only a matter of time before he asked him for help. Sure they weren't doing anything important today; but everyone knows that the partner chosen would be theirs for at least a whole semester. There was NO way that he wanted to be partnered with someone who is obsessed with him. That would be a bit freaky to say the least.

"Stop smothering him," a demanding voice boomed over the crowd of Rick lovers, "he gave you his answer so leave him alone." The girl had her arms crossed with a serious look in her crystal blue eyes. The group instantly got quieter as he began to back away from him a bit. Of course they weren't happy about it; but there was nothing they could do to change his mind. They knew it just wasn't going to happen. The blond that spoke up let out a heavy sigh and flicked her hair back a bit.

"Thanks Silvia," Tarik said before giving her a charming smile. She had to force herself not to swoon and gave him a slight smile in return before looking away.

Tarik made his way over to his friend before speaking again. "Want to be my partner? You know I will help you out," he shifted his eyes to the right as he lifted his head for a brief moment to show that he was talking about the new girl: not just about the class. This might prove to be useful for him. His friend liked the new girl. It was obvious that he had an instant crush. If those two talked and became friends; it would make it easier to interact with her without looking suspicious.

"Of course!" Greg replied with more enthusiasm than normal. He knew the heartthrob could give him some relationship advice. It's not like Greg was bad looking; he just was a bit on the shy side. Most girls didn't seem to notice him for some reason. Of course he knew that he would own Rick at some point. Whenever that time came; he would be more than willing to do so. That's just how things work between them. It didn't need to be stated. "I can't believe you wouldn't want to partner with Silvia though," he mentioned.

Silvia was one of the most beautifully popular girls in the school. She was the object of many peoples fantasies. The girl was one of the people that wanted to partner with him: she was acting more normal though. In reality, she was sneaky in her obsession. Most people, like Greg, didn't notice such things about her. Of course he knew: he was no fool. "Oh. She is too intimidating for me," Tarik replied before a chuckle escaped his lips.

"Whatever man..." Greg replied as he rolled his eyes.

"Why are you even taking this class?" Tarik asked out of slight curiosity. It prompted his friend to go on a short rant. It wasn't abnormal for him to do such a thing; but he wasn't nearly as talkative around people he didn't know or feel comfortable with.

Astrayl walked into his homeroom class with a smile on his face as usual. His period went by normally, introducing himself and glady listening to his fellow classmates. Each one of them seemed cheerful to him. When homeroom was almost over he stood infront of the class and made a couple announcements. "Late this year we are going to do some events, I hope that you guys are going to join us and help raise money."

When the bell rang he ended his small speech to the class with a thanks and please enjoy the rest ofy our day. His next class was trig, a subject he wasn't really to fond of.

When the bell rang he soon walked to his trig class. Not really his best subject, but he tries his best in it anyways. Halfway into the class he felt like he was getting starred at by someone. When he looked up to find out who it was he noticed a girl. She looked new to the school, even if it was the first day. For Astrayl it was very easy to pick out the new kids to the school seeing as how he was president last year too.

He felt relieved once the bell rang seeing as how he was having issues with the first couple equations. He walked into the anceint history class glad that it was a subject he was good at. He knew most of the students in it seeing as how most of them are in his grade. 'Couple younger students, and a couple old friends. Looks like this class will be easy.'

When the period started the teacher began with a small lecture on how the class will be operated. As soon as the teacher was done he instucted the students to open their text books and begin reading the first couple chapters.

Astrayl finished the reading and soon some of the other students did as well. A lot of them started to talk among themselves about their summer vacations. Some of Astrayl's old friends soon sat next to him and asked him about his summer. Astrayl responded without changing his expression. "Well not much happened really. Lots of charities and lots of people I had to deal with." They laughed and one of his friends spoke. "Those parents of yours getting to you again." As soon as his parents were brought up a small frown showed on Astrayl's face as a dark aura appeared around him. "Those idiots gave me so much to deal with." fixing his expression Astrayl soon was back to normal. "How was your guy's summer." Soon a big conversation broke out among them all and plenty of laughs as well.

Anput turned towards the speaker, slightly annoyed at being touched by a total stranger, then realized it was the boy from before. She decided he didn't count as a total stranger, but she still didn't like it. There were boundaries one should respect, after all.

Rather than say all that, though, she smiled. "Small world and all that. I'm adjusting, but it's only been a few hours. Can't expect me to be right at home and whatnot." She had heard enough students speak by now that she'd heard at least six different accents, so she wasn't worried about being teased about her own British one. Apparently, students from all over the world came here to learn.

When partnering time came around, she didn't know what to do. She'd thought about asking the boy, but thought it was too forward of her. He'd also gotten mobbed by a bunch of girls who were obviously besotted with him. She felt a pang of something that she couldn't identify. Seeing all those girls vying for his attention made her a little angry at both them and him. It was almost like jealousy, but that was ridiculous. She hadn't spoken more than a few sentences to him. There was no reason to be jealous over a boy she'd just met.

Then there was the blonde goddess. Anput just rolled her eyes as she cowed the girls away from him. Silvia or whatever her name was appeared to be the Queen Bee around here. Anput had never been interested in what was popular and looked on those who followed trends with slavish devotion with faint contempt. The fact that the girls obeyed Silvia told her that they were those kind of people.

Fortunately, the boy had a friend and partnered with him, to the disappointment of the girls. Anput was a little disappointed, too, but pushed the feeling away, mentally berating herself for being silly. She looked around, still wondering who to partner with. She was curious about the girl in the blue uniform. If they were partners, Anput would have the chance to ask about it. But her shyness was a little too much to overcome at the moment.

((Normally, I don't double post, but I guess I brought it to a standstill on accident.))

Anput looked around, wondering if anyone would ask her to be their partner, growing impatient as seconds ticked off and people paired up with one another. Finally, she just couldn't stand it anymore and tapped a random student on the shoulder lightly.

"Excuse me, but do you think you could be my partner?" The student nodded and sat next to her, shuffling around in their bag for paper and writing utensils. She already had out her notebook and a plain black ballpoint pen. Some girls liked having super decorated pens, as if such things were extensions of their outfits, but Anput never bothered. The darn things never held enough ink or broke after a few uses.

The lab was easily completed, though Anput ended up doing the most of the work herself, as her partner was too busy talking with her friends about their summer vacations. For a moment, she wished she was back home with her friends, asking about their summer holiday. Her eyes welled up unexpectedly as it hit her yet again that she wasn't going back.

Wonderful. I've made an arse out of myself in homeroom and now I might break down and bawl like a baby in Physics. She swiped a hand across her eyes, dashing away the tears that gathered and trying not to sniff.

((Don't worry about it. Truthfully I was waiting on Beyond Autumns Gate to post but looks like that isn't going to happen anytime soon.))

History class soon started to reach that point where it started to drag on. Astrayl could feel the boredom while his friends continued to talk. He started to think to himself again. 'Hmm wonder how the others in the student council are doing. It would be interesting to go see them I guess.' He shook his head at the thought.

Soon he started to think of the Anubis person he is suppose to find. 'Lets see, there are at least 200 kids that go to this school. Rule out me and the other council members and you only have 195 students to search. Searching is going to be a real pain.'

While thinking, the bell rung and with that the period ended. Astrayl woke up from his deep thinking. Collecting his things, he stood up and began for the door. 'What class do I have now?'

He took out his schedule again and smiled when he realized what his next class was. 'The art of ancient combat. This will prove to be enjoyable.'

Putting on his usual smile, he started for the gym and soon entered the locker rooms to get changed. While getting dressed for some odd reason he could feel eyes of desire and jealousy on his back. 'I am used to the jealousy but desire, do I really seem gay?' He shook his head as he pulled his it through the hole of his gym uniform. Red shirt and black shorts, a uniform for the student council.

Soon all the students were in the gym and crowding the arenas. The class has a total of four arena, and you enter each one based on skill and experience. Naturally students would start out at arena one and work there ways up. There are a couple different ways to advance. First was to beat a certain amount of people within your level. Another way was to beat someone in the other arena, but you must issue a challenge. The last way was to be acknowledged by a member of the student council.

Astrayl sat at a bench and watched as the other students were cheering their friends on. It wasn't long till he was challenged by a senior who was ranking in the fourth and final arena. Astrayl just smiled at the senior and spoke, "Do you really want to do this? I won't fight someone who half-asses it." The senior cracked his knuckles and then his neck then spoke with a deep and irritated voice. "Anything to take down one of the members of the Azure Guard, especially the president who holds the record for the highest delinquent control."

Astrayl just smiled as he soon entered the ring with his calm expression on.

"I can't believe you know her already...well...I guess if it's you..." Greg commented softly. He had such a delicate voice anyway; whenever he spoke in a near whisper it was almost impossible to hear him at all. Of course Tarik was used to this so it didn't faze him at all.

"I don't. She just did something...interesting...in homeroom," Tarik replied quieter than normal. No one needed to hear their conversation. Plus, they'd get in trouble for not focusing on their simple introduction lab assignment. Everyone else seemed to be into their own thing; whether it was the assignment or the latest gossip. Greg made a comment about him being lucky; which made him brush it off like it was no big deal. They talked a little more here and there; but mainly focused on finishing the lab. The one thing the brunette noted about the new girl was the fact that she partnered with a random girl. At least it wasn't that uppity a-hole guard member.

Before he knew it, it was time to go to the next class: which was Physical Education. Tarik wasn't paying much attention to the new girl for multiple reasons: his friend came stealing secret glances, the queen bee was around and one of the guard members was here. He didn't even see her tear wipe and quickly exited the room. Even if he did, he probably wouldn't know for sure if she was in fact crying and probably wouldn't bother pointing out the fact that he noticed.

His PE class was fairly normal. There was the normal introduction thing. The teacher mentioned the activities that they should be looking forward to doing throughout the year. One of them happened to be observing and participating in the art of ancient combat. Tarik let out a heavy sigh when this was mentioned. Whenever it was time to join that particular class; he was already planning on skipping. What if one, or worse, more of those a-hole guards where in that particular class? It would make sense for them to take it and he'd prefer to never run into them. It's not that he was worried about giving himself away; they were just a pain in general. Maybe he could observe the class but not participate. Only time will tell.

Soon the class was told to get ready for their warm up class: whatever that was supposed to mean. Tarik walked nonchalantly over to the locker room and took his time to switch into the classic gym outfit. A few minutes later, he joined the group. Of course they were in a completely different area of the gym than the art of ancient combat class. What a distraction it would be to have those knuckleheads in plain sight.

Anput was one of the first to leave the Physics class, glad to get away from her partner's inane chatter. She didn't even remember the girl's name.

She threaded her way through the crowd of students, noticing how easy it was to get through it. At Colchester High School, passing periods were mad zoos as students scrambled to get to their next class. Here, while people were by no means moseying, they weren't crowding each other either.

Just how many student go here anyways? she wondered.

She found the way to the girls' locker room and entered it to find giggling girls in various stages of undress. She noticed that many wore cute underclothes that were frilly with lace and ribbons or had adorable patterns printed on them. Apparently, since there was a uniform that prevented too much fashion expression, girls tried to outdo each other in the locker room when it came to underclothes. The female teacher keeping an eye on the locker room spotted Anput.

"You're the new student, right? I've got your locker right here." Before Anput had a chance to react, her hand had been seized and she was pulled over to a locker. The teacher deftly unlocked the lock with a few quick spins and popped it open.

"You have ten minutes before PE to dress out and ten minutes after PE to change again. If you're not in your assigned area after those ten minutes, you're late and will be given a warning. If you're consistently late, your grade for PE will drop significantly. Always make sure you lock your locker so that nothing's stolen or messed with, and never give your code to anyone. Speaking of which..." The teacher slapped a piece of paper into Anput's hand, making her wince. "There's your combination. Memorize it, but don't lose it. I only unlock lockers twice per person. And don't get any funny ideas about asking me to unlock another person's locker. I know who has what locker. Now get changed!"

The teacher spun on her heel and began walking through the rest of the locker room, monitoring the girls. Flushing, Anput stripped quickly and pulled her PE uniform out of her backpack. She ignored the other girls until one gasped and pointed.

"Omigosh, what is that?!"

Anput glanced to the girl, then to where she was pointing. It was her birthmark on her back, shaped like an ankh. "Just a birthmark. Interesting, isn't it?" She smiled at the girl and pulled on her shirt, already in her shorts. The girl was pale and looking a little wild-eyed. The other girls surrounding her looked frightened. Anput frowned slightly, then let out a frustrated sigh and slammed her locker shut, clicking the lock closed and giving it a tug to check it.

"It's not a disease. It's just a birthmark. No need to get your panties in a twist." The girls said nothing, just watching her oddly as she left the locker room.

She wandered out to the PE field, wondering where she was supposed to go. Her advisor had placed her in something called "the art of ancient combat", though the reason had been unclear. Something about "a good skill for the near future". Anput looked around, trying to find the group that looked like they might be doing ancient combat-y things.

A hand gripped her elbow and she spun. A girl with slanted, golden eyes and white streaks in her black hair was grinning at her. She was wearing a lot of eyeliner that exaggerated her eyes, and her skin was a light bronze. She was tall and and her piercing eyes reminded Anput of a hawk or some bird like that. "You look a little lost, there." Her accent was American, as far as Anput could tell.

"As a matter of fact, I am. Where do I go for Ancient Combat?" Anput was tense and wary. The other girl looked at her for a minute, then removed her hand from Anput's elbow. She never stopped grinning and pointed. "Over there. You're gonna be with me, huh?" There was amusement dancing in her eyes. "Excellent, we'll beat the s**t out of everyone else together, eh, Anput?"

A chill ran up Anput's spine. "I don't remember you in home room. How do you know my name?"

The other girl looked at her oddly, then understanding lit in her eyes. "Huh. You don't know yet, do you?" She shrugged and held out her hand. "Probably better if you figure it out on your own. I'm Nicky, but you can call me Nephy."

Anput shook her hand gingerly and was surprised by the calluses on Nephy's slender fingers. This girl was no slacker, that's for certain. She followed the other girl over to the Ancient Combat group and, with some help from Nephy, began stretching out.

Her breath caught for a moment during one stretch as she spotted the boy from home room. He looked bored, his handsome features languid. It was at that moment Anput realized that she still didn't know his name. Nephy noticed her looking and glanced over. A knowing look spread over her face and she smiled slyly.

"Ooooh, so you like Ricky, eh? Most of the girls do." Anput blushed, but filed the information away for future reference. Nephy noticed that, too, and laughed. A mischievous look came over her face. Before Anput could say anything, she shouted, "Hey, Ricky, how's it going?" waving her arms madly. More quietly, she said to Anput, "Yeah, he's what you might call family to me."

A strange thing happened then. For a moment, when Nephy had mentioned family, there had seemed to be another women juxtaposed over her features. The women was dressed in ancient Egyptian clothing and had the wings and head of a kite hawk. There was a suggestion of flame and a bennu bird as well behind her. Anput gasped in wonder, recognizing Nepthys, the sister of Isis. At her gasp, the vision vanished, and only Nephy stood there, a sly look on her face.

"Ah, you're starting to get it now. Now come on, here comes the instructor."

Tarik didn't quite make it to his are of the gym before someone called his name. It wasn't just anyone though: it was Nephy. He knew her quite well. It didn't surprise him to see her in the ancient combat class; but that wasn't the only person there. The new girl was with her. A smile spread across his face as he made his way over. Normally, he'd just say hello from a distance and be on his way: but he hasn't seen her in a while. Plus, Anput was with her. It would be a bit easier for him if those two were to become friends. As he made his way over, he glanced around the room to find the president there. That was not a pleasant sight at all.

"I'm surprised to see you taking this class," Tarik commented with sarcasm dripping from his words. It was his greeting to her. He didn't feel the need to answering the actual question she asked; after all, it was probably easy to figure out in general. Then he turned his attention to Anput. "So we meet again," was all that he said before giving her a charming smile. He was starting to wonder if she was going to be in most of his classes. It would be nearly impossible to avoid her if that was the case: not that he was planning on doing such a thing; but still. Technically, they didn't have the same class for this period though. After all, he is just taking a normal PE class. Most of the time, they would only really see each other in passing. Then there was the fact that everyone that was taking a gym class eats lunch right afterward. It was highly possible that the three of them would be eating together often. Of course you never know really: it was only the first day.

Before Tarik could really say anything else, he saw the teacher coming over to the group. That was his cue to leave. "As much as I'd like to stay and watch..." he trailed off for a moment before continuing, "it looks like it's time to take my leave." Of course the brunette was curious to see how Anput might fair; but he'd find out in time. He turned to walk back to his particular class and gave a brief wave. "Don't have too much fun," was his finally comment before he let out a short laugh. He didn't know about Anput; but Nephy loved to fight. In fact, if she didn't hold back on most of them: there could be some deaths.

Before he left the area, Tarik noticed that the president was about to fight. He couldn't help but roll his eyes: not like anyone could see from this distance. The guy was a good fighter to be sure; but he just didn't like him at all. If they ever got into a fight, he'd have the advantage because no one has ever seen him fight before. Well, not really anyone from school. It didn't keep his attention on the combat class for very long. Soon he caught up with his PE class. It looked like they were doing various activities today: warm ups, a jog around the grounds, weight lifting and then something of our choosing. He didn't really know what he'd end up picking. It was highly likely that some people will drag him into something. It didn't really matter to him: at least it would be easier to resist the urge to go fight. In reality, he loved fighting. It was even enjoyable to watch a good one. After ten minutes or so, his class started their light run around the area.

"...but I can."

When Astrayl entered the arena, a crowd was quick to gather. Everyone wanted to see if the president of the Azure guard would lose. If he did that meant giving up his title as the president. Whispers were quick to start among the spectators. He didn't pay much attention to them, all he cared about was what he was going to eat at lunch next period.

Astrayl and his opponent were standing face-to-face when the teacher stepped in to be the ref. "Ok guys, a clean fight. No weapons, no biting, and try not to gouge each others eyes out." Both of them nodded at the teacher. "Now boys, shake hands." Astrayl smiled and held out his hands to his fellow student. The boy looked at his hand in disgust and spat right in Astrayl's palm. Then with a extremely angry tone he spoke, "This match is payback for getting my brother a years worth of detention last year." Astrayl still had a smile on and then wiped his hand on his shirt. Without out even looking back up from his hand he said, "To be president means to show compassion and love towards each and every student."

The teacher soon got out of the way and blew a whistle signaling that the match has begun. Right at the beginning, Astrayl ran so fast, it looked as if he disappeared only to reappear right infront of his opponent. "Even if that love is tough love." The man only got angrier and went for a hay-maker with his right arm at Astrayl's head. Bringing up his left hand, Astrayl blocked the strike and took the chance to poke the man's arm in three different places. From the side it would look like his fingers were dancing along the man's arm. Then Astrayl used his right hand's pointer finger and struck the man in the chest.

The man started to falter backwards and the face he had one looked like one that was gasping for air. Astrayl retreated his hands back down to his sides to show marks all over the man's right arm and it soon became extremely red. His chest looked at is there was a large dent where Astrayl had poked him with his pointer finger. Struggling to stay up, the man was barely keeping on his feet, it was in plain to see that he was terrified and staggering.

Astrayl walked up close to him and then brought his arms around the man's head, from another's point of view it looked like he was hugging him. He whispered into the man's ears, "Tough love is still love, know that I cared for your brother with all my compassion and that I hoped he would reform. Now I say the same to you and a little more." Then the face of a angel started to take a more devious look. It wasn't in his facial expression but just his mere presence that changed. "Don't mess with my guard, and don't mess with the students that I care for with all my being."

With that the man dropped to his knees only to see Astrayl standing infront of him. Right before he passed out, he thought he saw a god before him instead of Astrayl. The teacher was soon to the victim's side as paramedics quickly gathered.

Astrayl just kept his normal face as he stepped down from the arena and sat back down at a bench. The crowd just starred at him wondering what kind of monster their president really was. Astryal noticed all of the stares he was getting and just waved his a cheery smile on his face.

Nephy winked at Anput as Ricky left, smirking at the girl's obvious embarrassment. Anput knew she was red, but tried to think instead what Nephy had meant by family. In ancient Egyptian lore, Nepthys was married to her twin, Set, god of deserts, storms, and chaos. She was daughter of Nut and Geb, and was claimed by some to have been Anubis' mother.

Right, I'm making one really big assumption here, let's not forget. I'm assuming Nephy is the goddess Nepthys! Which is absolutely ridiculous, of course. But then, why so mysterious?

Before Anput could ask the questions that were crowding in her mind, Nephy steered her towards the arena where one of the student council members was gearing up to fight.

"You're going to need to see this before I say anything more to you. Come on, let's go." Anput meekly let Nephy guide her to a seat with a good view of the small arena and focused on the combatants. With a start, she recognized the guy from her trigonometry class. Nephy said casually, "That's Astrayl. He's the student council president. He's been challenged. Your ranking in this class depends on your level, and you move up either by beating a certain number of people or by challenging someone higher up and defeating them. Astrayl is the highest ranked fighter in this class." Her voice held frank respect.

Anput stared at vague-looking young man and puzzled at him. He didn't look like that big of a deal to her. Then the fight started and she was stunned by how fast he moved. She was just barely able to track him with her eyes. With an economy of motion, he'd brought his opponent to his knees in less than a minute. A chill ran up her spine as she saw the seeming of cow horns and a sun disk come over the president. Those were symbols of Hathor, goddess of love, but also of her dark aspect, Sekhmet, goddess of war. She suspected that she was seeing the war aspect in this case.

As paramedics gathered around the fallen challenger, she watched the president warily as he returned to his seat. The seeming of a god has left his features, just as it had left Nephy a moment earlier. She spun towards the other girl, a thousand questions leaping forward all at once.

Before she could start blurting them out though, Nephy stopped her with a glance. "We can talk about it during lunch. Now isn't exactly the best of times." Anput glared at her, feeling frustrated beyond belief.

"Now, see here! I don't know anything about this school and I very well can't learn anything unless I ask questions!"

Nephy raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Oh, Lady Night herself demands answers!" With a more serious tone, she said, "The fact that you don't know anything is exactly why your questions will have to wait until later. For now, just trust me." That shut Anput up, and she was stuck with yet another thing to think about in her already busy brain. How had Nephy known her nickname?

Tarik had a nice run through the grounds. It was sunny out; yet there was a little breeze to keep you cool. Most of the time the path they took was surrounded by nature. It was quiet: besides some murmurs of the more lazily ones in the group. Next was the weight lifting. For this class, they had to go about it a certain way. It was supposed to be the optimal way to workout on the machines. Things were always more orderly during the first trip to the weight room; after all, the teachers normally let you do what you want after that first time. Of course you had to be working out in some fashion.

After all that was over, it was a free period more or less. It wasn't long before a few people came over to him in order to get the guy to play a game. In the end, he picked the sport that asked first: basketball. Tarik seemed to be a natural; but he wasn't the best on the court. There was no way he'd show he was extra awesome even if he was. Trickles of sweat flung off his face as he made a quick turn around on of the players. Then he planted his foot before pushing himself up into the air. The ball left his hands and swooshed into the basket: nothing but net. It was a simple three pointer: nothing that special really. With that, the game was over.

The teacher gathered up the class and had them cool down before saying a few things. The kids were all itching to leave; after all, it was time for lunch. After that workout, anyone would be hungry. As soon as he dismissed them, the group hurried off to the locker room. Tarik followed at his usual pace. He headed to the shower area as soon as he entered the locker room. There was no way he was going to walk around for the rest of the day all smelly and sweaty. It was one of those communal showers: he picked a random spot to clean himself off. He knew there was someone secretly watching him: it didn't bother him even if it was out desire. He closed his eyes as he let the droplets hit his creamy face and slither down his naked body. Brunette hair now flattened to his head. After a while, he turned the water off and started to dry off as he walked to his particular locker. One plain white towel was wrapped around his waist while the other was being used to dry his hair. The whole time he was doing this; he didn't really concern himself with the president. It was almost impossible for them not to cross paths in the locker room; but they never really had a real conversation before. The guy seemed more interested in his "duties" and his fellow guards.

After he got all dried off and dressed in his normal outfit; he made his way out of the locker room. Tarik made it just in time for the class to be over. Soon he exited the gym and started to the lunchroom. It was time to feed his growling tummy.

Stuck inside the council room, Callirae sat in her designated secretarial desk and continued adjusting the schedules for the yearly events. Organizing every tad bit of it. And fast.

'I missed the opening ceremony and my first subject, but I can't miss my second class at the very least!' Sighing, she remembered she also needed to discuss with Astrayl and the others about the upcoming seasonal events, but she needed everyone's ideas for it. Holding that thought, she agreed with herself to better attend her next class.

Her second period would be Ancient Combat. She remembered that Astrayl is her classmate for this subject. She didn't like the subject much, but then again she may consider it. She is very good in fighting for that matter. 'My brother would be pissed off if I didn't keep up my shape' She remembered her brother's glaring face and chuckled a little.

As soon as she entered the gym, she saw the president at a glance who was fighting in the arena. 'Mmm...impressive.' It amuses her how amazing their leader was. He was highly skilled, and handsome at that.

'I'll watch this'. With that thought, she sat beside a long black-haired girl who seems to be enjoying the show. It didn't take long before the Astrayl finished off of the match. 'Nice one.'

Still astounded, she waved her hand up shyly to Astrayl - who went to seat on a bench across her's while smiling, waiting for him to notice her.
