"I'll show you how competent I am!" Zo took a lunge and a snap at the other mare. Forgetting that she is suppose to be herd alpha and obeyed.

"You dare!" Thosi hissed as she dodged back. She growled and jumped forward, flashing her own fangs.

"I do dare! I won't let you ruin this herd." The dark mare skittered to the side, just barely avoiding her opponent's fangs.
What now? Zo thought. She had never thought it would come to this with the alpha. A fight like this would surely tear the tiny herd apart.

Zo hissed like steam escaping. She whipped her tail toward Thosi's face to blind or distract her.
"You wont let me, but you'll let yourself! Is that it?! I should never have let you become Alpha! Now I'll take it away." The black mare burned with fury. She could feel her careful control of her darker self slipping away.

Thosi stumbled back as she attempted to dodge Zo's tail. She still wasn't quite fast enough, and the tip nearly did blind her. Rather than replying, she snarling and reared up, lashing out with her hooves.

Zo laid her ears back. When she saw the sharp hooves coming her way she scrambles to get out of their way. Sensing she couldn't move in time, she pulled her wings back out of the way of the deadly strike. A broken wing is not something she could afford.
She felt the hooves impact solidly onto her shoulder. Her squeal of pain and anger rang down the tunnels. Zo wheeled quickly and took a stab at Thosi with her hind hooves.

Thosi tried to dodge but wasn't quite quick enough and snarled as the blow landed solidly. She lashed out with her whiplike tail, trying to blind or otherwise cripple her opponent.
