Caelan was about to respond to Ki's inquiries about his mate, when Agni seemed to come to a realization. He waited, listening in slight amusement at what was being said. He glanced at Aruna and laughed silently, knowing she could see him. "You're not worthy," he chuckled at her in a whisper, as the 'Daeva brothers continued to talk.

Aruna glared at her brother before returning the amused look of Ki's. She wasn't too surprised at Agni's reaction, but Ki made it sound as if they were mates or something. Which they weren't, right? They hadn't exactly talked about it, but that must have been how it seemed to Agni and Caelan.

Caelan waited until they were finished before speaking. "No, their mother isn't from Kurai, or anywhere near here," he replied with a shake of his head. "And I doubt she's going to join anytime soon." Speaking of mates, he glanced between Aruna and Ki, wondering if they were. Ki sounded as if he had just been joking, saying things to rile Agni up and whatnot, but he wasn't so sure.

Aruna's attention went back to her brother, and she smirked. "Is she their mother, or is she their mother and your mate?" She asked. He still hadn't told her much about his own relations, yet he wanted to know all about her life. How unfair! She refused to stand for it without any sisterly questioning of her own.

Ki listened to Caelan reply and speak of his children's mother. Sounded like he'd be raising them alone. Even though Ki was of 'Daeva blood, he still felt it was a shame for kit's to be brought up in a world without both of their parents to care for them. But he was sure that the kits would have a happy home in Kurai so he pushed the thought from his mind and awaited Caelan's reply to Aruna's question. Well, he waited until Agni cut in again.

There was just no way. No. Way. Ki could not care about her. Agni was trying to convince himself that his younger brother was just trying to mess with him.. and was failing. It really seemed like Ki cared about her. To fly her all that way. But surely he wouldn't declare them as mates... Right? Maybe if he asked Ki to declare themselves as mates and he didn't, Miss Flaming Ear would be hurt and leave. It was worth a shot.

"Okay, there is just one thing I need to know. And I need a flat answer, yes or no." Agni said as he stood up and stared very seriously at his younger brother. "Are you her mate?" Agni paused for a second before adding in, "Just so that when I run to father in the next few seconds, I'll know if my story is correct or not."

Ki was about to answer Agni in his usual way of twisting and turning things on him but froze solid at Agni's last sentence. Father. He was going to tell their father. Ki returned Agni's stare with a cold glare of his own. "No." He said it without looking down at Aruna. She had sort of played along with him up until now. And since it was becoming evident that he had feelings for her, he didn't want to see her reaction. Ki didn't know if she'd be hurt or not, but either way, it would hurt him to look at her.

Caelan glared at Aruna, and was about to answer and when Agni spoke again. Curious himself as to what Ki would respond with, Caelan waited to listen as well.

At first amused by Agni's question, Aruna glanced at Ki and waited for his response. The "death-glare" that appeared on his face at the mention of their father worried her a little. Judging by Agni's reaction, Ki's father probably wouldn't be too happy with this little tale, even if they weren't mates. And they weren't, right? Of course not, they hardly knew each other. So why was she sad after hearing Ki's response mimic her own thoughts? Perhaps because she wanted to continue messing with Agni.

Regardless of what she was or was not really feeling, Aruna's face remained calm -- humored even.

Caelan watched Aruna's reaction, and was satisfied by the small, amused smile on her face, that Ki spoke the truth. The moment seemed a little tense between the two 'Daeva brothers, so Caelan turned back to his sister and chose that time to answer her question. "Pandora is both their mother and my mate," Caelan replied.

Aruna looked back at her brother, for some reason not really wanting to look at Ki. "Pandora, huh? Nice name," she said. Though it sounded sarcastic, it really wasn't. "And exactly who are my other new family members?"

"Eireonite, Adonis and Blaise," Caelan said, reciting their names in order from top to bottom.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 11:54 pm

HAHA! Agni was excited to hear his brother say no. Because that was good. And then he was happy. And happy Agni was happy. And it was good. So he told them that. "I'm happy to hear that, Ki." Then he laughed. Because he was happy. For a moment he thought it was foolish of him to even think such a thing. Ki and what'erface. HAHA! As if. That'd never happen. And Agni was glad it wouldn't. Because that was wrong. And since Ki wasn't wrong, Agni was happy. He started to walk away when he heard Ki speak.

Ki let his head drop in defeat as his brother laughed. He listened to Caelan say the names of his children and Ki realized that he wanted children. And he wanted them with Aruna. It was crazy, yes, he had only just met her. But he loved her. The fire in his heart burned for her! So he looked up and shouted at his brother. "No!" Then he turned to Aruna with pleeding eyes. "Aruna! I love you! Be my mate! I will never let you down baby!" and then without waiting for her reply he picked her up and flew off into the sunset!

And then Agni was not happy anymore.

((Original crack entry above, corrected entry below))

Ki shifted uneasily and turned his attention back to Aruna and Caelan as they continued the conversation about Caelan's mate and children. He was trying to remain cool but part of him regreated saying "No" to Agni's question so he couldn't help but fidget. Why did Agni have to bring up their father? Perhaps he was smarter than Ki gave him credit for.... Nah.

The younger Daeva's eyes drifted back to Aruna and the wheels in his head began turning again. It was true that he and Aruna weren't mates, but Aruna did seem to enjoy messing with Agni. Maybe, just maybe, she would actually agree to be his mate just to mess with their brothers, mainly Agni.

"Good names." Ki said, his normal amusement back in his voice. "You know, I think I'd like kids one day. But I would need a mate first." He turned fully towards Aruna, flashing her a sly smile he was sure only she caught. He glanced over at Agni quickly before returning his gaze to her. "It's been hard to find a vixen who's comfortable enough around my fire though. But that was before I met you, Aruna. I just told Agni that we weren't mates but how about it? Would you like to give being the mate of a 'Daeva a try, Aruna?"

Agni was fully satisfied with the answer his brother gave. The thought of him mated to that normal vixen was just wrong. And Ki was the 'smart one' out of the two of them so surely he'd make the right choice in a mate and this whole thing was just another one of his little games.

At least that's what Agni wanted to think. But his thoughts quickly started to chance as he heard his brother begin talking about children and looking at Aruna. No, no, no! Ki was NOT allowed to ask Aruna to be his mate right here in front of him!

"WHAT?! NO!" Agni fumed. "You are NOT allowed to ask her to be your mate." The older gave his younger brother a hard glare. He honestly didn't have anything against Aruna or her brother. But they were normal.

Aruna could tell Agni was happy with the response. Caelan seemed equally pleased. Good for them. Good for freaking them.... She really wanted to continue messing with Agni. Apperently. Presently, Ki repeated the "no," and she turned to him. Way to rub it in, Ki. Wait, what exactly was she thinking at the moment? Aruna mentally shook her head and tuned back in to the scene at hand, only to find Ki's eyes suddenly focused on her. The staring startled her a little, but what was more was the look in his eyes. What was it exactly? Pleading, of sorts? But what is he asking for?

Ki's sudden outbursts made Aruna jump in surprise, and simultaneously leap for joy. Without even a chance to catch her breath, she was carried off into the sunset! As they flew, she finally got a hold of herself. "Oh, Ki! You have no idea how happy this makes me! In fact, I hardly know myself!" She exclaimed. "But I do know that I can return your feelings whole-heartedly, and would love nothing more than to be your mate!"

Caelan silently watched the entire charade with wide eyes, raised eyebrows, and a gaping mouth. What exactly was going on? And what just happened? Why is Ki suddenly confessing these things? And for his sister, no less! Ridiculous! Inconceivable! He thought they hardly knew one another. Caelan just stared as they flew off into the distance, until he could no longer see them. Having nothing else to say, he glanced at Agni, who seemed to be fuming, though also frozen to his spot. Darn, and he was ecstatic just a few seconds ago. And now Caelan was kind of... left here with him. A 'Daeva. A raving mad 'Daeva. And Caelan. This would be exciting right? Hopefully more exciting than anything else. Might as well make the most of it. "So," Caelan decided to begin. "I honestly didn't see that one coming. You?"

[More crack above XP]

Though technically conversing with her brother, Aruna's real attention was still on Ki, and he looked a little uncomfortable. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his mind, and whether or not it concerned her... Which it probably didn't. Must have something to do with his father, or maybe just Agni. Who knows, really? But Aruna doubted that it had anything to do with her.

Or did it? Because at that moment, Ki began talking about kits of his own. And a mate of his own. And vixens, and fire, and... herself? Admittedly, Aruna had tuned out a bit, still trying to figure out Ki's thoughts. It turned out she hadn't really needed to, as he was prestenly revealing all she ever wanted to know and more.

Needless to say, Aruna was stunned. It didn't take too long, however, to snap out of this daze and return her feelings whole-heartedly. "Oh, Ki! Are you serious? Are you sure? Because I would absolutely love to try my hand at being your mate!"

Ki's offer, Aruna's answer, Agni's response. Two thirds of this made absolutely no sense! Agni made sense. Ki and Aruna... Caelan had no idea they were suddenly feeling this way for each other. And though he didn't agree with Agni's reasons for disapproval, Caelan still couldn't fully agree with Aruna and Ki's reasons for suddenly deciding they should be mates.

"Wait, wait, wait," Caelan decided to voice his own opinion in tandem with Agni's. "Isn't this all happening a little too fast? How well do you both even know each other, again? I thought you two had just met!"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 17, 2011 1:12 am

Ki was scared about Aruna's reply because he thought she might not return his feelings and that scared him. But then he heard her speak up! And she was happy! And that made Ki happy! And so they were both happy as he flew them into the sunset! But the sunset was quickly fading into night so Ki spotted a cave and landed there.

"Aruna." He said. "I am so happy you love me to! I know it's sudden, but." He paused for dramatic effect. "I want to have children with you!" DUN DUN DUUUUN! And then he licked her. And then magic happened. And he was happy.

That did not just happen, right? Agni stared after his brother in disbelief. He couldn't believe Ki would do something so unbelieveable. It was so out of character that he just couldn't believe it. This was not good. His brother was now all eewy and together with a normal. How could he have done that?! And now Agni was all alone. And not happy. Because how brother was eeww and nasty.

"No." Agni replied. "No I did not." And then he fainted from to much sappiness.

((Original crack above))

Just seeing the look of shock and anger on his older brother's face made the whole "confession" of love totally worth it. Sure, this whole thing would get back to their father and mother and they'd be in shock or furious with him but in the moment, this couldn't get any better. Honestly, a big part of him was just saying this stuff to mess with his brother.

Aruna's answer, and the seemingly sincerity of it, took Ki completely off guard. She..... She actually did want to be his mate? Wait, what? Before Ki could even process what Aruna had said, Caelan had cut in and voicing his own disapproval. He had to agree, it was happening fast. But they didn't know the half of it. Ki had started having...feelings for Aruna about five minutes into their first conversation. By the end of that conversation and the flight here, Ki was pretty sure that he had fallen for the vixen and if he really thought about it, honestly wouldn't mind settling down with her.

"Yes, we are moving fast, we did just meet each other a very short while ago. But Caelan, you must see that your sister is a very extraordinary vixen. In the little time I've known her, she's managed to win my affections and make me feel like there is more to life than just taunting my less intelligent siblings." Ki's eyes fell upon Agni who was giving him a rather dirty look. He turned away from his brother to look back to the flaming vixen and her brother. "I am very serious and sure that if you would like to try and handle a 'Daeva, I will give you my all."

....Seriously? No, seriously? There was no. possible. way. this. could. be. happening. Agni's face turned into a snarl and he suppressed a deep growl towards Aruna. The older 'Daeva smoothed his hair back as Aruna's own older brother seemed to express his disapproval of the couple. At least he wasn't the only one who thought his sibling was crazy.

"Exactly. I agree with Caelan. You don't know each other and you're going to fast." His words were more of a suppressed growl than civilized words. He didn't bother keeping his temper from shining through them, he wasn't going to be heard anyway. Ki and Aruna seemed to be staring at each other with that disgusting loving gaze and completely ignoring reason. More than rage, Agni was deeply saddened. This normal vixen had turned his promising younger brother into some lovey-dovey normal acting fox. It was a disgrace.

Aruna felt the elation inside her as they flew until darkness fell upon them and Ki landed them in a cave. He was also, quite clearly, ecstatic about the whole situation. "Oh, Ki! That's so romantic!" She exclaimed, unable to contain her feelings of love and affection toward him. She heartily agreed to the magic that occured soon after his abrupt statement about children. Aruna was, needless to say, equally happy.

Caelan was watching Agni's reaction. He had sounded well enough, right before he fainted. Caelan just shrugged, examining the 'Daeva from a distance. Not wanting to disturb him, he began to wander off into the night. "Oh, he'll find love eventually."

[Crack~^]

At first, Aruna could only nod in response as Ki argued with Caelan for their love. And admittedly that just sounded very sappy in her head, but at the moment Aruna didn’t care. The vixen was suspended in a moment of bliss, that neither her brother, nor Agni could destroy with their dissenting comments. Still, she couldn't just stand there staring at Ki. Aruna had to find some way to help in their defense. She turned to glance at her brother. "Caelan, I've known Ki just today and already I feel more comfortable around him than I ever have with you, and that I know much more about him than I know about you," she said. "And that's considering the fact that my sole, original purpose in coming here was to find and live with you.

"And Ki," Aruna turned to him as she spoke, "talking to you, being with you, has all just come so naturally to me thus far. And I know that I won't be able to imagine life otherwise. Besides, you promised me fire."

Caelan couldn't help but feel a little hurt. She knew this 'Daeva better than she knew him? But Caelan knew that his sister had a point; it was why he had been so shocked to see her in the first place. Their family had never been the closest, and just knowing and conversing with a stranger for one day would have brought Aruna closer to any fox than she was with him. Frankly, Caelan was even closer to Pandora than he was to any of his other family members.

Deep down, Caelan knew Aruna and Ki were in the right, and lacked the ability to complain any more on the subject. After quite the silence, he just sighed, and then shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose, then, that there is nothing more to say on the subject," he finally said, after mentally judging each of their words. There was something about them, devotion, perhaps. I fiery passion in their eyes... No, don't be ridiculous, Caelan. That doesn't exist. Shaking his head of strange, sappy thoughts, Caelan turned his attention to the other older brother, Agni. "I'm afraid, then, that you are alone in your continued complaints."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:36 pm

((Sorry for the small reply))

"That I did. I'm glad you haven't forgotten." Yes, he had promised to heat up her life and show her some real fire. It was indeed very comforting that she was still up for it. That she was not some fox who feared fire, but he already knew that. Caelan seemed sadden by his sisters decision but it was clear that he would not argue against it any longer.

"Nooo!" Agni whined to Caelan. "I can't convince them alone! Don't back down! Do you really want to see your beloved little sister end up with some heathen like Ki?" Agni was starting to get desperate. He needed Caelan's help to break up Ki and Aruna. By himself, he knew he stood no chance and would soon slip up in his words and only progress their relationship farther. But Caelan could probably match Ki in smarts. Thus he could not back down now. But try as he may, Agni could see that the odds of Caelan joining back into the "fight" were slim and growing slimmer by the second.

Caelan raised an eyebrow at Agni's words. Heathen, he had called his brother. Frankly, if either of those brothers fit that description, it was Agni, but Caelan knew for a fact that that was the absolute worst way possible to go about this conversation. He looked back at Aruna and Ki. The more he thought about it, the better the idea seemed to him. His little half-sister could clearly take care of herself around Ki, that much was evident. And, well, at least he wasn't one of his other brothers.

Again, he turned back to Agni and shrugged. "Even if I didn't back down, and you got the rest of your family and the rest of my family here to convince them against this union," Caelan began, "I doubt it would do any good. They would only grow closer. Best way to approach this is to wait until they drive each other crazy on their own." Caelan had been joking about that last part, but if Agni took it seriously, then at least he might stop badgering them in order to see if Caelan was right.

Aruna was staring worriedly between Agni and Caelan. She was so relieved by her brothers words, but the 'Daeva clearly didn't feel the same way. Despite Agni's complaints, though, Caelan did not disappoint her. She sighed a breath of relief at his words. Knowing he was joking, she turned and grinned at him after his last comment. "Feel free to hold your breath while you wait for that to happen," she joked back, still grinning.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:01 am

Agni's ears dropped at Caelan's words. It was obvious that he had lost this battle. He was now going to be a step-brother to a normal. That flaming vixen had tainted his 'Daeva family and now there was no going back. Ki had made the decision to turn on his own proud 'Daeva bloodline. Perhpas that was the result of having a normal for a grandmother. Regardless the reason, Ki was going to make a mess of their family. He almost wasn't even a brother anymore. Ki was no better than the rest of them. For the first time, Agni saw Ki the same way their father did.

"You're really going to mate and one day have kits with that?" Agni asked one last time to Ki just to make sure there was absolutely no way to save his brother.

As Caelan spoke, a tiny smile played at the corners of Ki's lips. At least Aruna's older brother had some sense. Why couldn't he have an older brother like that? Caelan was actually capable of thinking, unlike his brother. And Ki was thankful of it. It seemed that Caelan wasn't too upset that Ki was going to mate with his little sister. Maybe this could help their relationship? Caelan could probably use his sisters help raising his children that would soon hatch. The thought posed the interesting idea of Aruna as a mother. The small smile on his muzzle grew as he thought of how much a handful his children would be if they ever had any.

Almost as if on cue, Agni spoke up. The look on his brothers face caught him off guard. It was the same look their father gave them almost his whole life. That look as if he was a disgusting bug or something that didn't deserve life, much less the presence of Osoreru. It seemed that Agni was taking this a bit harder than he expected.

"Yes. And I plan on enjoying every minute of it." The last bit he added in just to watch Agni make an almost queasy expression, as if he were going to be sick on the spot.

Aruna could see Agni's expression change gradually; it was pretty clear what he was thinking. He really was that disappointed in their union. Aruna worried for a moment that it might even shake Ki's resolve, but one glance at her new mate soothed her worries. Agni and his feelings held no power over Ki, he was stronger than that. The thought of that made her smile, and Ki's words made her laugh. "Hm, speaking of having kits, Ki..." Aruna trailed off with a sly smile and a sidelong glance at her mate. She was only joking, for the most part.

Caelan frowned. "Not completely okay with listening to things like that..." He muttered with a shake of his head. Not that he had expected anything different. Besides, she was only joking, right? Well, in his mind she was, and she will continue to joke until she turned up with actual kits. Until then, Caelan would remain in denial about his half-sister and her new 'Daeva friend.

[Would you want to time skip to toss their kids in at some point in time?]
PostPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2012 12:26 pm

"For once I completely agree with a normal. Do NOT want to listen to such talk." Agni said as he gave a small shiver of disgust. Uugggh! Now he had the mental image in his head of his brother with little normal kits running around his feet. So gross. Agni shivered once more and then decided to take his cue and leave.

"I'm going to go hang out with the rest of the family, that's hasn't lost their minds." Agni said defeated as he trotted slowly away. Before he had trotted to far away from them he turned back. "Let me know when the kits get here. 'Daeva or not, they're going to learn how to defend themselves by me." He gave his brother and his mate one last glare before turning back and leaving.

"Oh, and you're alright Caelan." He called out before disappearing into the fog that surrounding the boarder of their tribe lands.

Ki raised his eyebrow and looked at Aruna with a sly smile. He wasn't sure if she was kidding or not but he wasn't really going to argue either way. He couldn't help but chuckle at the words of Caelan and Agni. The younger 'Daeva couldn't place his finger on it, but he found a sort of satisfaction in Aruna making both of their brothers uncomfortable.

Of course Ki let out another chuckle when Agni spoke of their kits. Ki would have to take up his offer because Agni "teaching" anyone anything would be of great amusement.

"Well, Caelan, I think I am also going to take my leave. It has been nice chatting with you. Until next time." Ki said with a small bow of his head at the end. He turned to Aruna and nodded his head in the direction he was going with another raise of his brow, silently asking her if she was coming or staying behind.

((You can make your post and then my next one can be a time skip with the kits now introduced. How many of the kits do you want to bring in?))

An amused smile appeared on Caelan's face and remained there until well after Agni was out of earshot. Despite earlier complaints, Agni was pretty alright himself. And if Caelan could admit that about Agni, then how was he to justify not allowing Ki and Aruna to mate with his blessing. Ki left shortly after and Caelan was left alone with his sister for the first time in a long while.

He turned to her, once he was sure the two 'Daeva's were gone, and said, "Once Agni's done teaching your children to defend themselves, tell me. 'Daeva or not, they're going to need someone to comfort them after a long day of training with that guy." He smiled down at Aruna, a little because of his own joke, but mostly in an encouraging sort of way. "Well, run along then," he said with a sigh. "Don't want to keep him waiting, I guess."

Aruna was surprised by Agni's offer to teach her children; she had assumed he would really want nothing to do with them. Perhaps he wasn't quite so bad after all. One quick glance at Ki told her that her mate was really more amused by his brother's words than anything else. Well, if her children learned to protect themselves, then that would be wonderful. It made no real difference to her just who taught them, as long as they taught well.

Agni disappeared, and then Ki. She assured him hastily that she would "follow along soon," before turning back to her brother. At Caelan's words, she couldn't help but laugh in response. "I'll certainly hold you to that, Caelan. And thanks for everything. You're not a bad older brother. I know you'll be a great father. And soon an uncle, too!" With that, Aruna winked at him and scampered off in the direction that Ki had went.

[Okay, aaand I guess just Laythe and Maya as kits first.]
PostPosted: Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:14 am

[TIME SKIP: Still on Kurai grounds, Laythe and Maya are kits, I might bring Agni back in later.]

"Dad!" Maya hissed in her fathers ear. "Dad, wake up!" She paused for a moment and when her father didn't move, the small 'Daeva jumped onto his shoulder and then climbed to his head from there. "Daaaaaaaad!" It was almost a whine of impatience. Not knowing any better way to wake her father, Maya began to jump up and down on his head and neck until her father rose and shook her off. She tumbled off of him and landed on the ground with a thud.

"Finally!" She said getting to her feet, glaring at her father. "You promised to teach me hunting today!"

Ki was vaguely aware that someone was calling to him. But he was still so tired. There was no way it could be morning already. Desperate for more sleep, he tried to ignore the voice that was calling to him. For a moment, the voice was silenced. But it was soon replaced with the feeling that something was climbing up him. With a slow waking realization, Ki became aware of his daughter bouncing on top of him. He sighed inwardly and took a few deep breaths before raising to his feet and shaking his daughter off of him.

He looked down at her accusing glare and yawned. "I did." Ki gave a loud, long yawn and a stretch before glancing around for his mate, Aruna.

Aruna had been up with the sun and, more importantly, her children. They were both excited, and ready for an early start to their day of learning how to hunt. Of course, they would both have to learn slightly different tactics. At times, Aruna felt bad for her son. Being a normal fox surrounded by a 'Daeva sister and father couldn't be easy. Then again, Laythe wasn't completely normal himself. The boy's fiery green paw could burn as hot as almost any 'Daeva-produced flame. He already had quite the advantage over the rest of the normal fox population.

She made sure her kits were both ready to go before allowing Maya to wake up her mate. "Morning, Ki," Aruna said once she caught his eye. "Sorry to wake you, but the children simply wouldn't wait any longer. Besides, you aren't allowed to have too much more sleep than I do. I'll slowly get crankier and then become the 'mean parent,' and we can't have that."

Laythe circled their sleeping area while everything else was going on. While his sister Maya whined impatiently to wake their father up, Laythe dealt with the wait by practicing his pounce. He would crouch down low, crawl around in the grass a bit, then suddenly leap up and forward, extending his claws until they sunk into the dirt that he landed on. He had a bad habit of leaving scorch marks on the ground. Laythe couldn't really figure out how to control that flame just yet.

Finally, he heard his father's voice, proof that he was awake. Laythe took one more practice leap towards his dad, before closing the distance between them at a quick, running pace. "Time to go!" He said, nudging his mother forward with his head until she was standing.
