"Thank you. Sometimes, after so long seeking, I lose hope." But there was a reason -- he was sure there was a reason. All in time.
"I would love to see the sea. I have heard some rumors of it -- tales from the walkers who go from sea to Swamp -- but I have never seen it for myself. Are you going there now?" The prospect of a long journey didn't seem to bother him at all. He shook his head carefully, to get any water out without dislodging the flowers, then stepped out of the lake and back into the hot air.

"Do not lose hope," Meets-the-Sea replied, her eyes kind. "The world is larger than what we know -- I'm sure your lake is out there somewhere."
Finding herself sufficiently refreshed by the water, the doe followed the buck back out onto the bank. She flicked her tail, sending droplets of freshwater flying, glinting in the sun. "I am indeed headed back to the sea," she nodded. "It ... it will be much cooler there. You are welcome to join me, if you like," Meets finished shyly. She did not usually enjoy company on her journeys, but this buck was a traveler like her -- and his presence had a calming effect on her. She would not mind his presence, for a while at least.

"Even the Swamp is too large to be explored by one kimeti," he agreed amiably, flicking his tail to get most of the water out. "It sounds a pleasant place. I would be honored to travel with you." And maybe he'd find that lake of his, somewhere out there.
(Sorry for the late tag; I think this could wrap it up.)
