He might well have rambled on on that same topic, adding dates and details... But the other rocket succeed in distracting him. As he looked down at the ice type a very small, perhaps slightly sad smile crept over his usually impassive face. "He was a gift from..." a notable pause pause, "From somebody I used to know. I have had him for... fifteen years now. Just over fifteen years..."
He still remembered the small ribbon-wrapped box with holes punched in it. The scuffling noise it had made when he picked it up, and the soft squeaks from inside. When he opened it the young eevee had bounced out, looked around with wild eyes, and shot under the sofa. It had taken them a couple of hours to coax the scared little thing out. He remembered the first nervous little chirrs of pleasure as he stroked the soft ears...
'There, see, now you have two friends; aren't you a lucky boy!'
Yes, he certainly had been.
He wished he hadn't had to leave.

"Wow," she said, eyebrows raising slightly at the thought. Seven years? "That's quite a long time. I've only had Zeus a few months. I've had Odette for..." How long had it been now? She was 17 when she'd won the pretty thing as a Pidgey.. "Wow. Almost six years now. Has it really been that long..?" Apparently it had been. Odd..
"She wasn't a gift though," she admitted as she leaned her weight onto her left foot, humming thoughtfully for a moment. "I won her in a game of poker when she was just a Pidgey. Pretty little thing, too, all gold and white... I had to have her." Had to. She wasn't sure why, she just.. had to. So she did, and no one had proved if she used unscrupulous tactics to win or not, and whether she had or not, she'd never tell.

"Well..." Frost shook himself and cleared his throat, summoning his attention back to the conversation, and away from miscellaneous regrets. "Well there's something to be said for earning your pokemon in one fashion or another. Persephone is the first I've ever obtained on my own, and it was rather satisfying to capture her, especially after what she did to my dorm." He had spent all night tidying up the mess before anybody found out (his roomate had been 'staying with a friend'), but the victory and the new assets were definitely worth the lost sleep. Now he had something to deal with the pokemon types Skiron could not cope with...
Speaking of Skiron, the ice type was still patiently padding along the treadmill; Frost turned it off. "That will suffice for now," he informed his pale-furred friend, "you have done well. We will seek a training battle later, and if you do well there too we shall find you some sorbet."
At the word 'sorbet' Skiron's ears perked up, and he hopped down from the treadmill to stand attentively by his trainer's side; he was ready to go and get that battle and subsequently that reward whenever he was!

The young woman nodded and reached over to turn off Zeus' machine as well. It was time they left, too. "Agreed. Zeus was the first I caught, myself, which is wonderful since Odette is a bird. She isn't exactly thrilled, of course," she admitted with a dismissive wave of her hand as the Pikachu stumbled off the treadmill. Even after walking and cooling down, he was exhausted.
"Sorbet?" She repeated, looking down at the Glaceon who looked quite eager to get some of the frozen treat. "That sounds delicious. No chocolate for you," she added after a pause, directing her gaze to the electric-type at her side who had looked up at her with large, pleading eyes. Presently he pouted, crossing his arms over his chubby stomach. "We'll see you around then, and perhaps schedule a training battle sometime."

"Yes," Frost nodded acceptance, "I would enjoy that..." Not at lot else to be said really. Shrugging internally Frost made for the exit with Skiron trotting along beside him, looking like the very picture of a well-behaved little glaceon. With on hand on the door, however, something occurred to Frost and he paused, turning to face Claire again. "I hope that Zeus' diet goes well, and that your arm heals swiftly." There, that was a better end to the conversation. Nodding to the black-haired girl, he turned away once more and headed off in search of a battle.
