hmmmm probably the guy from pitfall on the atari you don't know how he got there and never manage to play through the entire game....seriously..i could never beat it id just get pissed off oh and probably boogerman cause he get yelled at by his boss then has to walk through sewage and his only power is throwing boogers or farting on people....yeah old school

Hands down, the protagonist from Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. Big spoilers here, btw. Okay, first off, he sees his father killed in front of him as a little kid, and is beaten within an inch of his life. He spends a decade in a slave camp, he gets married and has his wife kidnapped, when his kids are born, he's turned into a statue for like another 10 years, missing his kids growing up. Then, finally he gets to witness his mother sacrifice herself right near the end of the game. Man, that's rough.

Grayson from Bulletstorm, because everything just goes down hill from the start and doesn't stop.
Silent Hill Homecoming's Alex Shepherd, (Spoilers)because he watches his mother get torn in half or shoots her in the head himself (players choice), watches his father get cut in half by pyramid head, and has a flashback and learns that he killed his little brother who has been running away from you and betraying you through out the game.
Mason from Black Ops, because he had his brain ******** with, watched his entire squad die, had to go through years in a russian labor camp, and his only friend that survives all of this turns out to be imaginary and only in your head.
Sgt. Johnson from the Halo series because he dies in every one of the halo games but still manages to survive some how. Halo CE, he's fighting an elite when Pillar of Autumn explodes. He gets his a** kicked by Arbiter. He gets swarmed by the flood. and finally, he gets laser'd by spark. If you read the books you'd know that he survives the PoA explosion by escaping and he has a strange form of cancer so he's immune to the flood.
