Randomly Greek My dad is awesome when he's not being a douche and backing up my mother when we're in a fight even if he knows she's wrong. But ilke, when my mom left for Greece last summer in February to be with 'her people' again because she was depressed or whatever lame a** excuse, my sister went out every night to see her boyf. So I felt bad leaving my dad by himself and we ******** BONDED, yo. So now either he will be like "no b***h ur rong lol" to my mom or agree with her, but then after be like ***** BE CRAZY YO. yooo that's what's happening with my mom, too! he's been defending himself and even me lately. ******** yeah : )! cool dads are cool.

I used to hate my dad. He cheated on my mum, and moved out, they were separated for like 6 years until they finally got the divorce through because it was so messy. Then 6 months after, he got remarried to his former mistress, didn't even tell anyone. I had to find out because I stayed at his flat for a night and found wedding photos. He didn't really see us often, and when he did, he'd just sit and watch TV. When I'd call him in an emergency, like when my brother had to get some surgery done, he'd just send other people, when we really wanted him to come.
In the last year or so though, from what I gather, his second wife has left him. No idea where she is. They're not officially divorced yet but she's not around, she's in another country. And without her around, my dad's so much better. Maybe he's just lonely or whatever, but he comes to visit us and he pays more attention to us. He's the only person in my family to really take an interest in what I'm going to study at university, and he's supported me throughout the whole process. He went with me to visit different uni's, he specially did research into philosophy so he wouldn't be totally lost during the talks. Yeah, he really made an effort.
As a person, he's stubborn as hell, which is especially irritating because he's usually wrong. xD He's knowledgeable about cars, sports, you know, boy things. He likes puzzles and riddles. He taught me how to play chess. I don't think he's naturally very smart, but he tries and works really hard to understand things. He had a difficult time growing up, so I admire him for overcoming that adversity. For example, he saved up for a bike with his own money when he was 15, but when his dad found out, his dad smashed his bike up. He only had his stepmother growing up, and it's obvious that she loved her own children more than him. Her children all went to university, they were given a house...my dad had to do it all himself, took night classes whilst working full-time. So I think he's a resilient guy, and he's quite independent.
So all in all, I think our relationship is improving. I'm looking up.

i'm hijacking this thread. this thread is now about how terrible our dads are. neutral
... tbh i think everyone in the guild with half-decent dads have already posted lol.

My dad is a good dad, even if I posted in the mom thread about how wonderful she is and how much I love her and how I'm a mommy's girl and closer with her, my dad has still usually been there for me too. But to be honest, I used to feel like he took Dar's side over mine (Dar is my step-mom) or favored my middle sister (Anita) over me and April, and even Dar's son Wes sometimes, but there have been times when he does stick up for me or take my side and it makes me feel better. Sometimes he gets a bit on my nerves, or I think we don't see eye to eye on some things, but over-all I think he's a good dad and I have no doubt that he loves me and takes good care of me.
