Shalar found himself distracted as he heard a groan from his father, he turned automatically to see the older stallion struggling back to his four hooves... it was the great down side to their large wings, easy flight hard to get up when you fell on your arse. He sighed.... the problem was that he didn't really have much respect for his old man, and eventhough he had seemed keen to help and prove himself a little it seemed he was far to clumpsy to be of any use... and that could get them all killed.

Shalar cursed under his breath as his attention was brought back to reality as his horn was tugged, he tired to stab it forward again only to be confronted with the hole that he had made... torn flesh, blood.... it was.... invigorating! His reaction shocked him, and in his mind he heard the whispers of 'kill the beast.... he doesn't deserve to live.... end him before he ends someone else' the darkness within him had awoken, the very thing Shalar had always feared about himself. He wanted to be a protector... not a killer.... yet the desire to kill was always there, strong and pulsing like a heartbeat within his mind. He growled, more to himself than to the kalona as he watched the golden stallion begin pushed away.

Now was not the time to debat within himself, if this monster died then he would not cry over the loss, for the world had surely not lost anything.

Attack roll:
1- Shalar lunges forward and strikes Demon again with his horn. (Moderate damage)
2- Shalar lunges forward but misses due to trying to avoid Ryuu Zu at the last moment. (Miss)
3- Shalar lets out a war cry as he kicks Demon hard in his freshly opened chest wound. (Minor-Moderate damage)
4-Shalar goes to kick Demon but slips in the mud slightly and skids away from the fight slightly. (Miss)

Ryuu Zu stayed focus, seeing the Kalona's move before it happened due to the flexing of the muscle that obviously controlled the beasts wing. Using his weight he slowed his push backwards until the kalona was forced to stop, and only then did he make his move.

His assessment of the situation was quick.

Attack roll:
1- Ryuu lunges forward and bites the muscle in Demon's wing that controls its movement. (Moderate damage)
2- Ryuu aims to bite the muscle in Demons wing but misses because he dodges the attack. (Miss)
3- Ryuu kicks Demon in the side in an effort to draw the Kalona's attention to himself. (Minor damage)
4- Ryuu goes to slam into Demon again but misses and skids slighly in the mud. (Miss)

Demon cursed under his breath... the attacks were coming quick and from all sides. He hissed as a horn entered his flesh, a new flow of blood trickling down his body.... he hated his own blood, the scent reminding him of a time of pain and capture.

He growled, the noise a fierce echo as his eyes narrowed on each and everyone around him.

Demon moved his wing, just in time to avoid an attack from the creature he had struck moments earlier... and as they continued to come at him he knew..... he had to get out of here, now! In truth Demon had faith he could take down several of them before he died, after all only one or two of them seemed to be trained in combat and Demon had been dragged up with fighting the backbone of his exsistance.... but he couldn't! He had a purpose and now was not the time to forget it and die.

So, Demon kicked off with all his strength, snapping his wings open and not carrying who or what they hit as he took to the air. Yes, several of them had wings but he doubted they would take chance... only those of his breed and those of evil intent tended to chase. He supposed he should be thankful for that.

When he was free of the group, safe in the air he turned to look at them all again, taking in the features of all those who had dare interupt him... who had stood against him..... he would get back at them one day, or find a use for them... which ever came first!

"Do not forget my face...." He growled, but rather than leaving a threat he took off.

Styx let out a hollow yelp as he saw the Kalona take flight... the motion was almost elegant, despite the beasts side he made the ability of flight seem easy... given that one had been blessed with such equipment. Still... it scared the crap out of Styx.

The darkness around him was closing in, threatening to consume the last sliver of his sanity. He continued to scramble backwards, his body anything but graceful in his current pathetic state. He could feel blood, could smell it too.... was it his? Most likely. Of course that thought did nothing to aid his bid for sanity, if anything it made it worst, something that was demonstrated by the long ear piecing scream that blew forth from his lips and echoed around him and those with him. He noticed the unicorn glance at him. But it was "Too late." There was nothing to be done to hold off the madness, it consumed him almost every night, and would not be sated so easily....

Tears trickled down the exhausted stallions face, his features grim as he thought about the "Mess" of his "Life." With each word spoken he nearly chocked.

Regulus had been watching the Kalona, fear leaking into the very air around him.... was this the end for all of them? He had seen several Kalona's in action over the years of his healing career. They were deadly, and had earned their reputation..... especially when cornered. Would this turn into a blood bath? Regulus hoped not, his emotional turmoil had left him exhausted and he feared he would not have the strength to heal so many let alone his self... and then there was Relia! He couldn't die here....

That was his last thought before he heard a skriek and a scream. His head snapped instantly towards his 'patient', who must have knocked a wound back open with his scrambling and scurrying away. Pity flooded Regulus's features as he made his way towards the male. "Shhhh..... shhhhh.... it will be ok." The creatures flinch didn't surprise him at all given the circumstances, and as Regulus risked focusing his mind on the wound to heal it he hoped he had not just left himself open for an attack that would surely end his life.... either way it was not in Regulus's nature to watch another suffer. And had he found the Kalona on his own, injuried and hurting he would likely have helped him too.... foolish perhaps, but Regulus had never believed himself to be a God, it was not for him to choice who his gift helped.

Nisroc huffed and puffed from the effort of getting back onto his four hooves. He wasn't exactly well balanced in terms of body shape... something his son had inherited, well all of his children actually.... large wings that seemed almost too large for their bodies. He actually felt bad that they had inherited such features... especially when their mother was so fragile and beautiful looking. Her wings perfect, and not at all a hinderance when she shrunk in the manner of a flutter.

Still, now was not the time to contemplate such things.... no... the Kalona's eyes spoke of a promise of evil deeds, and it took all of Nisroc's courage NOT to bolt from the scene. Safety in numbers.... safety in numbers.... He said the words over and over in hims mind, hoping that they would give him strength.

The Kalona took flight. Nisroc froze.

Was this it? Would the beast attack now? When nothing but words came Nisroc couldn't help but show his relief.... even if the words struck home... he was sure he would never remember the face of this beast!

Shalar looked to his father, and nearly cursed at the look on the older stallion's face... fear was clearly written on his features. But he couldn't allow himself to linger on such thoughts for long... no. The Kalona was still a threat as far as he was concerned. He spread his wings ready to take flight after the beast, ready to teach it a lesson.... the dark voice within him egging him on. Go after him.... he is unworthy of life.... think of those he will kill after tonight if you do not end his life... you are helping the world.... go for it.... It took all of his strength not to, and he had to admit the words of the golden stallion helped.

Ryuu Zu saw that the strange stallion in pink and white was about to act... and he couldn't allow that. To do so would likely bring down the wrath of the Kalona. As it was the evil creature seemed satisfied to leave, self preservation Ryuu predicted, after all, what creature was stupid enough to stay knowing death would surely follow. That didn't mean Ryuu believed this was the end...

So, in an effort to calm the situation he walked towards the winged stallion and spoke softly. "Let him go.... but prepare youself." Something in the beasts eyes had given Ryuu the impression that he would once again see the kalona, but on 'his' terms... on the terms of a creature born of evil thoughts and intents. Death may not come from the encounter, but he was sure the beast would remind him who was on top of the food chain. That didn't mean that Ryuu was powerless, far from it, but the fact that the beast would be angry would not work in his favour on this occassion.... after all Kalona's thrived on malice and evil intents.

He sighed, letting his eyes linger on the retreating beast before looking at the group. "I believe we should part ways now. Get as far as you can, hide your tracks and scent if you can... and perhaps find others to linger with before that beast comes for you." Ryuu would go find the one mare that held his interest....

Styx gulped as a strange tingling ran through his body. "Not.... right..." he managed to say, eventhough the sensation was far from unpleasant, in fact he actually felt better... more whole, as if his skin was repairing it's self. But that didn't make sence....

In that moment he forgot that Regulus was a unicorn. Just saw a threat... in the darkness... everyone was a threat.

The golden stallions words barely registered in his mind... but still he found himself saying. "I... stay."

Regulus really feared for the kelpies sanity, but at the tone of the golden stallion he couldn't help but realise he needed to leave NOW!

It was a need to get away from here that Regulus's hooves moving, despite the pull towards his patient. Yet since he wanted to stay Regulus knew he could not change his mind....

"Gentleman." He said, nodding his head softly towards each in turn before looking to the treeline once more, "It was a pleasure. I hope our paths do not cross again.... or at least.... not due to my purpose." Regulus did not mean that as an insult, far from it... he went around healing those who were injured, and often near death... Regulus did not want to meet any of these stallions in such a situation. For that matter he didn't want to meet anyone in that situation.... but you could not have every wish.

Nisroc stepped towards his son to stop him just as the gold stallion did. It caused him to stop, and wonder for a moment how a small walk between father and son, a bonding exercise had turned into this... he had a feeling it would make their relationship even more strained... which was a shame.

When the golden stallion spoke Nisroc took the opportunity to approach his son. "I think the time has come... to return to your mother and sisters." After everything that unfolded here he couldn't help but want to return to her soft and warm embrace.

Shalar nodded to his father, "Ok..." Yet his wings were still stretched and ready to go after the Kalona, it was from sheer force of will that he closed them back to his side and turned to his father. "If that is your will." He said, nodding once to the golden stallion and the others that had gathered her... he wanted to look down his nose at the sniverling creature who had actually fought the Kalona. Shalar would be happy to leave here if only to get away from him.

Taking not one but two steps away from everyone, he only looked over his shoulder to check his father was following. True to form as always. Yet after today Shalar did have more respect for the stallion that sired him.

Ryuu Zu smiled slightly and nodded to them all. "Good day." Was all he said as he walked away from the group into the forest. His mediation had been ruined, but his modd still felt fairly light.... for now at least.
