Mocca whimpered as Darius checked the small area out, he'd sensed that something bothered the older wolf but didn't know what, he just knew he's seen a shudder and a lip curl as they'd been walking and for some reason that made him afraid and relieved at the same time. He watched with keen eyes, listened to what was going on around him with large ears but there was no trace, barely even a scent of his family left now, they had certainly not passed this way recently.

His whimpering got louder as Darius neared the den, he wanted to try and see if there were any traces himself but he didn't know what he should be doing. It was a good job that Mocca had stayed on the edges, since around the den were signs of the 'other' wolves, not of his family. They had left ... markers of a sort using parts of the family, to warn others of trespass. It wasn't clear but some of the bones DID look like they'd been chewed a little.

"Darius? Mister Darius! .. what have you found? are they there?!" he asked, his voice hopeful despite the increasing odds his parents just weren't there anymore.

Darius didn't have to search long until he found traces that led him to the main den.The fact that there was one confirmed that the family was Mocca's, for wolves usually slept and stayed out in the open, seeking shelter in a cave or an underground tunnel only when they had to, and caring for pups were one such circumstance. If any had come or gone since the pair's murder (and this, he now had no doubt of), it was hidden behind a choking cloud of blood, and he was glad Mocca was too young to smell it from his distance.

This time, he didn't even attempt to hide the furious, disgusted emotions that wrinkled his face and lifted his fur. His eyes were wide, his fangs bared, and for a moment, he seemed an embodiment of the creature writhing across his flank. He turned to the pup, hoping it would prompt him to obey the sharp, "Go!" he barked out, and he kept up this frightening visage until Mocca did as he asked, and wouldn't let the pup any nearer from his place on the edge of the area.

When he thought himself hidden from view, he began to clear the area as much as he could, digging up holes as fast as he was able so he could bury what had been left of Mocca's family. It occurred to him that he could have simply thrown them into the den, but the risk for them being discovered was too high, and he grimaced as he wondered how he would break the news to Mocca. It was truly a pitiful thing, to lose one's family in a single day, and in such a method, as well.

Mocca took a shaky step towards Darius, wanting desperately to find out for himself what the older wolf had found but too nervous to do so. He noted the look on Darius' face when he'd gone to the den and was worried, could mister Darius be one of those bad wolves his parents told him about? he certainly looked more scary now. He took another step forwards and was almost immediately terrified as Darius turned and yelled at him, his features twisted into something Mocca hadn't seen on another wolf before. He turned tail and ran, frightened out of his wits. If he hadn't emptied his bladder mere minutes before, he would have done so now.

He didn't go too far but he did find a fox burrow, which reeked of stale fox scent but it was narrow and dark and it made him feel fairly safe, his trail would be easy to follow to the hole, he reeked of fear himself. He curled in the back of the shallow burrow and buried his head in his tail, he cried for his family and with fear of Darius, he just didn't understand that it was for the best that Darius has done what he did. The pup would have been traumatized if he'd seen what Darius had.

Darius felt pangs of guilt strike him when he saw the fearful way in which Mocca left and heard his despairing whimpers from a distance. Hurting pups was not his way, and not something he would normally condone. It was not enough, however, to convince him that he had done the wrong thing, and he continued about his work, although much more quickly than before, for he feared another might be attracted to the cries of the small, helpless pup, and not the friendly kind.

When he was done burying the various parts of flesh as well as he could (so that if Mocca ever felt frantic to visit his old home, he would have a hard time digging them up, at least while he still had the limbs of a young pup), he stepped back, calmed, although not fully used to what he had just seen.

His next worry was the leftover scent of blood and waste on him and, although he longed to go to Mocca this instant and comfort him, he risked the chance of revealing what had truly happened if he went as he was. Still, he followed the scent for a little ways, ears lifted and alert to catch signs of potential danger, rubbing against the sides of trees, dirt, and any strong-smelling plants he passed by, knowing that with each step he took, he would get closer to Mocca, and would inevitably have to tell him of his parents' death.

Inside the burrow Mocca didn't know what Darius was doing, but so much time had gone past that he had stopped crying by now and was curious again, there hadn't been angry teeth at the entrance like he'd feared at first. Maybe Darius had seen a snake or something, he knew sometimes Adults yelled when they were scared you were going to hurt yourself.

He ventured a nose out of the old fox hole and sniffed around for the older male, "Mister Darius?" he called shaking a little.... was he going to be left alone again? It certainly felt like it at the moment.

As Darius grew near to the scent trail's end, clouds of doubt began to plague his mind. He feared he might have been too efficient in chasing the pup away (although he did not regret doing so, for he would not have liked to have seen what he did, much less anyone else, especially if that anyone else happened to be a pup and in close relation to the victims of the scene) and his presence would only cause the other to flee, and into more dangerous lands.

Thankfully, that did not seem to be the case, and he sighed in relief, quickening his pace in response. "Mocca?" he called as he did so, hoping his sudden appearance and words wouldn't make the pup change his mind regarding whether it was wise to fear him or not.

Mocca poked his head out of the hole when his ears caught Darius calling for him. He was relieved that the other male was looking for him, it meant he wasn't going to leave Mocca behind after all. He waited a moment before emerging fully thought, echoes of that snarl in his mind.

"M..Mister Daruis?" he called back, sighing a little and pulling his body out of the hole. "I'm here.... over here!" he called. He shook a little, waiting for the big male to see him s he tottered about to look for Darius.

Darius' ears pivoted towards Mocca, and he hurried to reach the pup, glad no harm appeared to have befallen him. Forcing his way through the bushes that separated him and the pup, he reappeared on the other side, a hesitant smile on his lips. There he stayed, appearing almost silly with leaves and twigs poking out of his fur, a mixture of emotions flooding him. Now that he was face-to-face with Mocca, he was happy, for the pup hadn't run away from him yet despite his actions. But it also meant he would somehow have to let it be known that Mocca shouldn't spend, or waste, the rest of his life searching or yearning for something he could never get back.

He sighed, and his breath came heavy with regret.

"Mocca," he called simply, shaking his fur free of the foliage. He stepped towards the pup, but found himself unable to continue. What could he do? What could he say? No matter what happened, the pup would be hurt, and it was never any easy business doing that.
