Devicius tried to ignore her words, but they bit at him nonetheless. He wanted to wash the guilt away, tell himself that he had no fault in the situation, but he knew that he would be wrong. For his whole life he had ran away from problems, abandoning supposed love and breaking numerous hearts. Now his faults weighed on him tenfold, and he realized that even he, an Angeni, was not pure. Might as well consider himself cursed!
He didn't expect the weight crashing into him from his side, and even less the sharp sting of something cold and metallic at the base of his wings. He yelped, pulling away, though he nearly fell over his own feet as he sidestepped. One ankle twisted awkwardly, and he growled in anger and pain, turning to face his attacker.
There she was, cleaver in mouth, her true form. How she always should have been.
"Jessamine! What are you doing?!" He shouted, trying to back-peddle but limping awkwardly on his strained ankle. He glanced back at his wings, noticing a large cut in his skin, and a few of the base feathers chopped off at the roots. The blood trickling down his side startled him--he had never been attacked like this. And he was definitely not used to defending himself!
"Get away! You monster!" he shouted, half panicked, half angered.

As the feathers she had cut off drifted to the ground her gaze snapped from them to her former lover.
A crazed glint had entered her eyes and she let a smirk spread across her lips. The sight of his blood made her crave it and she wondered if she could move fast enough to get a taste. He was on his guard now however, pity that.
"Devicius, love, this is me. In all my glory. I suppressed it for you, it is only fair that you experience the full package before we part, wouldn't you say?" she spoke in a lilting voice, mocking him.
She laughed as he tried to limp away. She would allow him to leave, she hated him anyway. It was high time that she have a proper meal and he was only distracting her. Not good for the children to be malnourished after all...
"Monster? Perhaps. I had fun, Devicius. Go, I can't stand to see you any longer..." some of the pain pushed its way back to the forefront of her mind and it cleared a little.
Suddenly she was exhausted again. Only a hazy memory of attacking him floated in her mind and she just wanted this night to end.

Devicius grimaced, watching her warily in case she decided to attack once again. But she seemed to back down, as if she was exhausted by her burst of violence. Still, as he came to a safe distance, he looked back at her, one last look. So this was her true self--cleaver in mouth, eyes half blood-lusty. He had never imagined her so.
He simply shook his head, wings drooping. "I will leave Jessamine. I now know that no matter what, this was never meant to be. You... you're not normal. I will hope that you find better one of these days."
He turned, limping upon his injured ankle, teeth gritting. He wanted to get away, disappear. He never wanted to see a female again, much less lust for them. He had made his mistakes, had payed dearly for them, and was now a fool. Laughingstock of the spirits.
He groaned and moved away, disappearing into the forest, old life left far behind.
