She wanted to continue the thread on the bear, for clarification's sake, but Oath held her tongue for the sake of listening to Rua's story. It certainly had a legend-like feel to it . . . "A compassionate creature that unicorn must have been, to give those wolves its horn with no compensation," she observed, and then added with a smile, "As I see its generosity has passed onto you. Wear it proudly, Sir Rua."

The Timeless River snaked northward, and she led him along its every curve so as to make sure he was not too disoriented. A moderately sized collection of rocky juts came into view, and Oathkeeper pointed it out to him. "That is Pride Rock, the center of The Realm of Light. The alphas' dens are there, and we like to hold meetings near the largest stone slab. Father sometimes is in, though . . . though more often than not you will see Kingdom Key." Ultima, Oath's father, had not been seen often lately. She fretted that his battle wounds were bothering him again, that Spellbinder was once more ministering to him in her gruff manner.

"Indeed it was. It was a powerful and noble creature and has been honored throughout the generations." Rua says with a nod and glances down at the sparkling pendant hanging around his neck. He listens to everything she says, keeping a mental note and trying to memorize where everything was. "Kingdom Key?" He asks politely, wondering what or who that was. He could help but let his eyes trail over everything since this was unfamiliar territory and he was very curious. But no matter how curious he was he kept looking back to her.

"Ah, my apologies. Kingdom Key is the second alpha to this pack," Oath explained as they approached Pride Rock. "She's from a sister pack we had many years ago that has since been demolished by our enemies . . . But she doesn't seem to act so downhearted despite it." Indeed, the alpha wasn't quite like any wolf Oath had ever met. "She likes to be called KK or just Kay, thought."

"Whot? Someone say my name?"

A somewhat shining wolf appeared from behind one of the larger rocky juts. She might have seemed to have been summoned by name purely, but the target of her attention came into view: a brilliant butterfly that fluttered up into the sky, carried onward by a cool breeze. "Yes, this is KK speaking!" the femme announced happily as she trotted to them, her necklace's charm bouncing with each step. "Wotcher got, Oath? This another lost puppy you want to take in?"

Kingdom Key took a good look at Rua and blinked. "Whot's this! You've got a rainbow on your head, boy~!" She laughed good-naturedly. "Any relation to Miss Not-So-Rainbowy-Lockish?"

"No, KK, Rua's new to the lands."

"Well y'could have fool me~" She smiled warmly at the male. "So! Whot be your story, lad?"

Rua puzzled over this new information for a moment, looking at Oath with even more respect now. "You are an Alpha? A Queen?" He asks with bright interest. Hastily he bows again, bonking his nose against the ground in the process. He snorted and shook his head, chuckling a little. "Sorry." He says sheepishly and wipes the dirt off his nose just as this other beautiful wolf bounded into view. His ears flattened and he bowed quickly again. "Erm!" He says, unsure of what to say for a moment.

He thought for a bit, then stood back up.He bobbed his head a little, another habit of his. He wasn't used to being around so much royalty and he was trying his best to be as pleasant and charming as possible. But he couldn't help but laugh at the rainbow comment, since it was true. "That I do." He rumbles and grins. This wolf was odd, but she seemed fun to be around.

"I come from far away. At least I think far away anyway." He muses, thinking about it. "After my pack died out, I decided to make it my life's mission to vanquish evil and make sure that tragedy never happens again." He says in a determined voice, his eyes suddenly flaming with passion.

Then, he tripped. On flat ground. He was going to reposition himself in a more comfortable pose when his paw hit a rock and he stumbled. He fell flat on his face, enough to sting his nose a good bit. This also happened to place him right between KK's front legs. He flushed and coughed, backing up a little and righting himself more carefully. "S-sorry Queen Kay, my deepest apologies..." He mumbles, thinking he looked like the fool he was.

And boy did "Queen Kay" have a riot of laughter for him, and thankfully the good kind. "This bloke's a charm~!" she exclaimed, her form shimmering with each giggle's shake. "Can we keep him, hmm? I'd so like to let him have at it with some of the youngsters - maybe put up a better example then some of that lot's got."

Only when Oath looked Rua over to make sure nothing other than a smarting nose and a stinged pride had hurt him did she chuckle some herself. "Only if he chooses to stay, KK," she responded politely.

"Well I certainly hope so!"

"Rua, I am no princess - only the keeper of memories," she half-reminded, half-explained. "My father, Ultima is the second alpha."

"And a fat lot he's done, no offense," KK injected, blunt with her opinion as usual. "I'd call you alpha myself if I didn't think you'd keep rejecting it. Being honest, my old pack made him out to be all this mass of a hero, and I'm getting right out disappointed. With no offense again."

Ah, she had wished the alphess had just left her father at that. The only sign of her discomfort was her ears twitching back, slightly defensive. Oath loved her father deeply, as he was the only family she knew still alive - and even that had almost been taken away from her in the war. Even if he was not out and about as much as the rest of them, she still thought of him as an alpha; yet she couldn't help but feel a little shameful at KK's words. "Yes, well . . . Everyone has their own place in the world, Key. If you don't mind, I must lead Rua to a spare den," she said, forgetting the promised meal in wake of this. She motioned for him to follow her again and began to leave to the northeast.

KK, who as per usual did not see the result of her ill-chosen words, wagged her tail a little. "Well alright then! You know where to find me if y'need me. Hope your stay's good, Rua. Good and long~"

Rua was still pretty embarrassed, but he got over it quickly. he was good at bouncing back from bad things, since his whole life had been one bad thing after another. It also helped that Queen Kay hadn't made fun of him for his clumsiness. He wagged his tail cheerfully and couldn't help but break out into a grin. It was just too contagious for him to deny.

"I can stay here?" He asks with interest. He hadn't thought of staying here permanently before, but the idea intrigued him. If he could stay here then he could protect the lovely Princess Oath...The thought sent happy shivers down his spine. His grin got wider and he bowed respectively again. "I would be honored to stay here, Queen Kay. Thank you." He says and bows for a moment longer before Oath trots off. He grins excitedly and bounds off after her, his tail still wagging like a puppy's. "So I can really stay?" he asks in a chirping tone, as if trying to make sure he'd heard right and hadn't gotten anything wrong.

"If you'd like," Oath answered, less defensive now that they were away from KK and moving. "And if you do, then tomorrow I should give you a tour of the lands and let you meet some of the others. We are a little scattered about to the different areas and . . . are an interesting bunch." To put it lightly. They walked for some time, the trees beginning to crop up more and more until they were in a forest. Still a branch of the Timeless River snaked its way through, lending background gurgles to what silence pervaded between them.

Not far from the river was a den dug deep enough to comfortably fit even a large wolf, which was where they stopped. "Here we are then. You might also be interested in the upcoming tournament we will be hosting," Oath added abruptly, as if her mind was on something else and she had forgotten to lead up to it. "Something to think about while . . . . Ah wait. I have completely forgotten your meal!" Her cheek were tinged. A shaman of memories, forgetting something so simple! "My apologies, Sir Rua, this is not like me at all."

Rua was quite content to be besides Princess Oath. He was getting more and more infatuated with her as time went on. He trotted with her, lost in a dreamy state as he thought of various things. Nothing dirty though, he wasn't that type of guy.

He snapped to attention though when they reached a snug looking den. He wagged his tail and smiled at it, giving it a curious sniff before looking back at Oath. "This is a wonderful abode, I thank you for allowing me to inhabit it." He says with another bow. he bounces back up and grins at her with all the charm he could muster. "A tournament?" He muses, greatly intrigued by this. A tournament was a great thing! "I will gladly-!" He was in the process of declaring when food was mentioned. His stomach cut him off with a loud growl and he flattened his ears sheepishly. "A meal would be most appreciated..." He says with a mumble and a nervous laugh.

Ah, she could not help but smile at that odd charm of his, though her face still had a hue of pink to it. "But of course! A warm meal for our newest member, coming right up," she chirped in response, tail wagging slightly. "I won't be long. In the meantime, make yourself comfortable."

She then turned to leave, dropping darker thoughts in favor of the more positive possibilities - she did think of the future as Rua did, but not in the manner he was dreaming of. This was the sort of wolf Gullwing needed: strong, cheerful, a white knight in all aspects. The very antithesis to Winner's Proof, the way in which the poor small female could find happiness and maybe re-piece her family together - specifically the kids. There was too much tension there, between mother and father, and the children even; worst among them being Conquering Hero, whom she knew was not as horrible as he made himself out to be . . . A positive figure in both that litter and Hero's would do them well.

She smiled more to herself as she trotted to the hunt.

Rua grinned and bobbed his head in a nod. He was famished. He paused to examine his new den when he realized what a dolt he'd been! To get a Princess such as herself to hunt for him! Unforgivable! He looked around for her wildly but saw she was gone.

"Princess!" He barks, but she was already gone. He felt guilty for making her do that when he could have easily scrounged something up for himself. He fidgeted a little and heaved a sigh. He sat down heavily outside his den and decided to wait, then he would apologize, apologize, then apologize some more.
