Wren snorted. "There's no bounty on my head," she argued, which was a good point. The real test being if it was good enough. Had someone seriously came to whisk Kai away, she would have backed down and let him be taken and in exchange would have honestly expected them to leave her be.
That in mind -- "What would you expect me to do? Jump in to defend some stranger? Why would I want to be involved then if I don't want to be involved now? And let's face it, dearest, I've nothing to gain by lying here. I'm not the one wasting time I don't have."
Lucky for that stupid prince she was being dishonest or he would have surely been killed or turned in by any captors.

Well, that was a fair enough point, she supposed. She didn't quite believe the story, but it opened up a well of interesting new possibilities. "Well enough," she said, and shrugged. She stretched, and ignored the sudden thrill of excitement that went through her as she realized perhaps there might be a little truth to this after all. Best to play it cool. Likely this would all account to nothing.
"Well, thank you for the information," she said, casting a last glance at her. "In exchange, I'll ignore you, as I said I would. But let me give you a forewarning -- if you want to continue on in peace, you'd be best to leave this area. My companions will be following after me, eventually, and they are all quite obnoxious."
And that was, perhaps, some of the friendliest advice she was able to give. She wouldn't wish Marion and Mars on anyone.
That said, she started off again, mulling over the possibilities. She only smelled two wolves here -- strongly, anyway. And she could still smell Kai, though the odor was fading with each passing minute.
Follow her nose, or trust the stranger?
Her nose, she decided. Her nose...for now. And then, perhaps, she might just double back and see what this odd lone was so keen to hide that she felt it necessary to lie so confidently...
