You're welcome. ^_^

Well...I'm off on the first of my first summer holidays.
My family and I are taking a day trip in the car (oh dear) to a sunny little lakeside town called Wanaka. Maybe my friends will still be there after New Years - so I may have some company of people my age!! Woooot!
That is if I survive the 3 hour journey. Oh well, I have some new music on my i-Pod from 'Mass of the Fermenting Dregs', '9mm Parabellum Bullet' and 'The Classic Crime' - so I'm sorted.

So...I survived the 3 hour road trip with the family (6hours return trip) yesterday and today, and I get home to find the internet runing at snail speed. STINK! But hey. There have been some positives....we stayed at the meanest hotel...I mean it was so cool! Big room, nice lake front veiw and a stella breakfast this morning. Plus it had three massive T.Vs, with Disney and Discovery Chanell. So..being a small minded 18 year old, I watched eppisodes of "The Suit Life of Zack and Cody" "Hannah Montana" "Fineas and Ferb" and "Sonny with a Chance."...yeah..and something about storm chasing...man I love shows like that...... I also made the most of mine being 18, I went to a liquor store and brought my first alcoholic beverage....didn't like it so much though...I may just save my money and buy anime boxed sets instead..... sweatdrop

So how is every one's new year going???? Aside from an uber annoying 11 year old brother home for the holidays and super snail speed internet mine is going great!

Guess who's back...back again, Stormgem's back, tell a friend!
Ahhhh...good times good times.......lol.

So went to the movies with my brother yesterday....and my Mum...I dragged them to Disney's latest offering - Tangled....I must say, I really did enjoy it!!! I love how far animation has progressed in the past few years....and the humor - I love MAXIMUS!!! I want one!!!

Today...well, I've mowed the lawn (3rd time in as many weeks) because the dandilions were popping up again...DEATH TO DANDILIONS!!!!....and I got sunburnt/tanned (HORRAY!!). For someone who only gets a computer screen tan this is quite an achivement. I'm going into town to buy new headphones...my old ones died and print photo's of last year - what an amazing year that was 2010, so many awesome memories - and then I have to wait for mother and the brat to finish swimming...hmmm....I also need a phone topup card........I keep forgetting I can't txt anyone!!! I wish they sold Gaia cash cards here in NZ...but they don't. So many super items I shall never have *sigh*

I think I might change the title of this thread.....again. It has become a place where I am almost blogging as well as rambling....ok I got it!! Stormgems Rambling Quest for World Domination!!!

And thats all for today folks!!! *is shot*

*IS SHOT AGAIN*

So for toadys rant/bump. I will be complaining about my younger brother and his many faults. (Don't get me wrong - I love him to peices...I just don't like him very much anymore...) So....probably my biggest issue with his 11 year old self is that he is a PAIN! He needs to use his own brain and quit stealing my ideas....he copies everything I do, whether it be poetry, short stories or even the stuff I buy. Exampel - I asked my mother if I could go and buy some new headphones - the little idiot, who got some for christmas, pipes up and says - "Oh, I need some new ones too!",,,,,,raaaaaaa!

Also - he is the most culturaly insensitive person on the planet, he has this nasty racist streak that needs to be beaten out of him - he's also a massive homophobe, which hurts a little, as not only is my best friend gay (such a neat guy by the way) but I am bi. I see love as something that is unconditional, and not barred by gender. I'm also a Christian (admitedly by the losest defintion) - my brother is too, but he is a litte zealous. Our town has a few nationalities and religions wandering around, due to the local Polytech and its combined international community plan and zero fees scheme, he just can't seem to cope. Most of the girls I worked with at the school library last year were Fijian Indian and from either Muslum or Hindi families....I swear I could feel the scorn rolling off the little brat in waves. Oh, and did I mention that he has the biggest case of 'Women belong in the kitchen or cleaning my room' syndrome? I swear, if I could, I would beat the crap out of him - but then that isn't always the best way to deal with things, but he needs to learn that people have a right to believe what they want to, and that it's people like him who are causing all the greif and war in the world.

I am at a total loss at what to do, I don't want him to be a total asswipe forever. I've talked to him reasonably about it, smacked him over the head when he says mean or insensive stuff ect...but yeah, he's a lost case I fear. Which is sad, because he was such a good kid a few years ago. I know I may be worried over nothing, it could be just a phase - he is at that age- but he's never been the kind for phases. I really am worried about him - not only for the hurt he'll cause if he mouths off, but also for his safety. Up untill now, I've been there to give him the beatings that the other kids want to, if admitedly on a lesser scale to what they had planed, but this year I'm moving out and he's going to be left on his own. There are a few kids out there who apsolutly hate his guts - fair enough too, he's called them all sorts of names, done all sorts of terrible stuff - but with me gone he's gonna get the s**t knocked out of him. Possibly hospitalised. This could be good for him - teach him a lesson, but it also could strengthen his hate and fear of people who are not white and straight. Argh!!! All I can do is agonise over it. [/rant]

So yeah, that's my biggest worry at the moment.

And a 1, a 1, a 1 2 3 4......

Hello again! How's life? I'm working today - currently in my hour lunch break. Man alive my feet are sore! And my neck...ouch!!! My job involves hauling a huge knapsack (sprayer pack) around a paddock (feild) on my parents farm. So far I have done 4 hours this morning, I will do another 3 this afternoon, which will bring my grand total to....8 hours this week (I worked for an hour yesterday before it rained on me...). At $15 NZD before tax, I should have made around....$135.

I have two more days to work this week and then my family is taking me hostage...and to a camping ground up near Lake Wanaka. I can't wait. *Sarcastic overtone*. In all fairness though, despite being forces to share a tiny cabin and have to pay to use showers and washing machines, I will be catching up with cousins and friends I haven't seen in years. Oh and 1/2 way through I going to visit my friend who lives in the next town over from Wanaka, and stay the night...whcih will be awesome because she's like my twin sister and we get along better than if we were actually related......yay for no related relitives!!! - [/end post]

I am sunburnt. Ouch.....that'll learn me for working without putting sunscreen on. I shall now be called Rudolf, as my nose is red, my hair is short and the rest of me is strange shade of purple brown........nice. Sadly I can't fly....that must be handy. In other news...I just watched Ponyo for the 30th time in recent memory...ahah. Man I'm a little kid....

Well... I changed the title again...but hey - that's besides the point. Also it will be the titles last change. Promise. No really - pinky swear.

So - two more nights in my own bed untill my family drags me off camping. I've already had WW3 with my brother over who gets to take MY suitcase that I brought with MY OWN MONEY!!!!! He wants to take it, he said he asked Mum and that she said that he could. He's already put his stuff in it. I hope that Mum says that he has to unpack it all when she gets home, because I swear, I'm about ready to kill the theif. I've been ready too since he stole my spare radio that I was about to sell (alos brought with my OWN money). He said he picked it up at a garage sale with a friend, but mine went missing the same time that one showed up, and what do you know - same make, same modle, oh and what's this? MY INITIALS!!! the ones I scrached in it after I brought it about 4 years ago. I know I have to love him by obligation, but even this is wearing thin, I have no love to give a theif and liar. I think I'll have to point this out to Mum and Dad too when they get back, because it's becomming cronic. The toad is turning into a compolsive liar. Imma hit him one day, and if it's not me that's gonna hit him, it'll be someone else, bigger, and scarier.[/end brother rant]

So in other news - I had the crap scared out of me as I was walking past Starbucks today. I was in town to bank a check, and one of my friends saw me as she was waiting for her coffe with some of my other former classmates (we've all graduated as of Decemeber), so she comes hurtling out of Starbucks and gets me with this flying tackle hug. I just about died of a heart attack. So she dragged me inside for a bit, we had a good yarn with the girls, and then one causaly brings up that our final exams results, the ones that tell us weather or not we got into Uni, came out online today. That just about killed me again. So after prying myself from the engaging conversation, I ran to the bank, banked my check and then flew home in a rush to check my results. The good news is that I passed NCEA level 3 and have got Universtiy entrance, the bad news is, I didn't do as well as I could have. Apparently a lot of people failed this year, so I'm just stoaked I passed.

I am packed!!!! Nearly.....just my meds/tolitries and PJ's to go. Who knew packing for a week and a half holiday could be so fun???

I didn't get MY suitcase back...I've been forced to use the tiny little one I had when I was in boarding school - but its all good, along with a sense of nostalgia it's a hang of a lot easier to manover than the other one. I mean, the one my brother stole has been to Japan with me, towed around Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Kumagaya station, packed to bursting but weighing only 20-25kg and haulled up several flights of stairs between platforms to make it to the Shinkansen on time and then repacked by my host mother when I couldn't get it shut - but the other one has about 3 years worth of memories woven into its battered blue fabric. So much so the stiching is slowly disintergrating on me....but it should last at least a week and a half of camping a Glendu Bay. I'm a little more excited about this trip now as I will be catching up with cousins and friends I haven't seen in years - but I am more stoaked about the fact I will get to visit my 'sister/twin' halfway through and stay the night at her place in the town over from where we are going to be staying.

You know those people you have this really weird, but really strong connection with? Well she's one of these people. She's a year younger than me but a hang of a lot more mature. She's the ordered almost OCD one while I'm just a little bit crazy and slightly (ok...really really) hopless at organising anything. We ballance each other out. She's boy crazy - I couldn't care less, she studies her but off during exams and passes with the highest marks, I play video games, watch anime and then sit my exam and pass with high marks. But the thing that really makes her so awesome is she is always there for me when my life falls apart - like last year when my ex dumped me for no apparent reason and one of my close friends commited suacide, she actually brought a bus ticket and came down and visted for 5 days during the holidays so I wouldn't do anything stupid. People like her need a medle - or at least a pay rise. Did I mention she works 3 jobs, sings in her school chior and does volunteer work at the local shelter????

So super pumped I get to see her, slightly gutted my brother stole my suitcase, a little put out that I won't be able to access the net for a few days - but other than that...BIRNG ON MY LAST FAMILY VACATION BEFORE UNIVERSITY!!!
PostPosted: Fri Jan 21, 2011 10:34 pm

Wooooooo!!!!
I'm alive...after 8 days of internet depravation and camping with my family in a sub-par room smaller than my bedroom at home...I do belive I deserve a medle....

Well actually I lie...I have been internet free for around 8 days. But I nicked off on day 6 from the camping ground and went to see and stay wit a friend who lives in a town nearby. That was good...I had a decent shower and caught up with her...hopefully with me at Uni this year we will see more of eachother. Her younger brother is actually not too bad. He played x-box 360 with me when she was OCDing about how messy the house was, and we traded favorite bands ect. So yeah all in all a preettttttyyy good holiday.
Now I need to prepare for my next trip away which is in 3 days. I'm going to Parachute Music Festival in Hamilton with my cousins...again a camping trip, but much more exciting....

But beach camping is the best!!!!! I mean, the ocean is so much more fun than a lake...and the sandflies aren't so bad...but then there is the sand fleas....hmmmmmmmm......
I live in NZ - we're only ever at most150km from the coast no matter where we are..haha.

And cheers! I'm sure to have a good holiday now!
I may post pictures if I meet famous people this next holiday!!!

So its that time of day again....HDL aka Stormgem is going on a massive rant about how much her life sucks....or not. Today/the past coupple of days haven't actually been so bad.....I really need to keep a hold of this sunny disposion - it makes me a much nicer person.

Top news is....I've been replaced and I haven't even left home yet....darn it Mum!! My mother is a keen track cyclist - for those of you who bother reading this rant page google Veledrome Cycling and you'll get a good idea what she does at the grand old age of 47. Well...anyway, Mum offers to have people stay a lot since Invercargill has the only Veledrome in New Zealand. So she get;s pretty involved with all the up and comming young cyclists. It's cool in a lot of ways - except she keeps trying to push me to get into track cycling...I have no idea how many times I've had to tell her NO, I'm a Karate Kid!!!! So that's the beauty of having the curent billet. She's my age, a little younger, like by a month....she's aiming to get to the London 2012 or the Rio 2016 Olympics so she's down here training with the development squad. She's epic. I don't actually hate her for replacing me, because she and Mum get on so much better than I do, which is nice for Ma cause I feel like I can be a bit of a dissapointment to her. Anyway, I think having the billet here will help Ma and Pa get over the fact that I'm now an adult and can fo whatever I want, and that there is in fact a life away from cycling. So long story shrot, I'm 18, off to Uni, I haven't even left home yet (21 days!!) and my parents have found a new 'daughter' who is everything they hoped I would be, but instead of being bitter about it I feel a fair deal of FREEDOM!!!! Plus the brat has someone else to annoy.....

In other news I shall be away again for a while - from the 26th of Jan to the 2nd of Feb - so you'll all have some peace and quiet. The reason being is....IM GOING TO PARACHUTE MUSIC FESTIVAL!!!! I'm suprer excited!!! Flyleaf were going to be playing there this year but Lacy is pregnant and cant fly - I'm gutted for myself but stoaked for her! But Skillet, Seabird and Brian Head Welch are playing at the festival so I'll have a ton of fun...plus I'm going with my cousins...who I haven't seen in years....and we're camping...which is always fun...uncomfortable but fun. Hopefully I'll be able to get a photo with someone from one of these bands...but hey, my chances aren't high. I'll put a photo up here if I do. So anyway....I have to pack tomorrow.....this time I will get MY suitcase as the terror is not comming.....YUS!!!

On a downer sort of note, I had to go to the orthadontist today...OUCH! Murphy's law hit hard and fast. So by the end of it both myself and the orthadontist were pretty pissed with my teeth. I've had braces for just over a year now...and my teeth still aren't quite right. Almost, but not quite. So anyway, he's trying to put a bigger wire in and it wont fit, so he leaves it for a while just to see if my teeth will move a fraction to let the wire in, not a plesant expericance but hey, I was up for anything that would get these food traps off ASAP. After half an hour of waiting, he comes back and sure enough the wire goes in. Then about a minte later one of the brackets snaps clean off my tooth. Go figure. Anyway he glues it back on, and sticks a thinner wire in, with the bracket upside downt to increase the torque on the problem tooth, and the ring is loose, so he has to glue that back on. Fortuneatly that was the last issue of the day and an hour after sitting down in the torture chair I am relased. And I should get my braces off sometime in March/April.....YAY....but I have to get my semester schedual first...I don't want to skip lectures if I can help it.....

So thats about it really, I mowed a third of the lawns and did 3 and half hours of work today. So a total of around 4 hours work = $60NZD before tax....thats one more week of eating in the near future!! Yay!

So..I hope everybody has a good week/few days untill I get back and begin ranting about how (hopefully) good Parachute was and complaing about my somewhat disfunctional family.

Soooooo....I'm back again. I would like to thank those of you who donated to me while I was away!!! I'm getting closer to my goal...but sadly market prices on Gaia are just like the real world......inflation sucks!!!!!

So I went to Parachute Music Festival in Hamilton - which is in New Zealand. I flew all the way to Palmerston North from Invercargill to go up with my cousins youth group.....2 hour plane trip + a 6 hour bus trip = good times!!! No seriously...it was the bomb!!!

The festival itself was amazing!! Admitedlty it rained heavily on the first night, and the person in the tent behind us had to move in with us because her tent got a little flooded...but other than that it was totally amazing!!! I went to a coupple of really good gig's the first night my most favorite was a kiwi band called Atlanta Fall - these guys really know how to party!!! Here is an example of their music.

I also go to see Seabird preform on the first night of the festival....far out they were awesome!!! Even if it was raining so hard I got soaked, despite the fact I was wearing a rain coat....I waited in line for a good hour to get their autograph and a photo with them....
User Image

I am obviously the one looking like the drowned rat.....

The next few nights/days were awesome too! I got to see Skillet play - and also lined up for ages in the cold to get them to sign my CD...but they weren't doing photographs as it would have held up the que....gutted much? Yes, Yes I am...but stoaked that all four of them shook my hand and said hello as I handed them their album cover to sign....hahaha...such cool people...they're playing in Japan at the moment...lucky beggars!!!

I also got my fringe dyed pink...see below a phot of me and my cousin playing with nerf guns......hahahahaha....man I love those things.
User Image

Oh...I got home today after a particularly bumpy flight....and found a whole lot of awesome gear on my bed. One of my Mum's friends had left me a whole heap of her old stuff, now I have no need to go clothes shopping!!!! Yus!!! Hope you all had awesome week ect....

I'm going to cheat and post this in all my quest threads...as I need to unpack...ahahahahaha....ha....so many clothes to rehome!!!!
